Took a long break from this finally picked it up again. My offense is rough but my goalie/ defense is on point.
Save a replay, use the PS share while watching it and upload that one. I'll try and grab one of mine in a little bit of mine, had a 3 save/3 goal outing the other night that was pretty fun I think I saved. Edit - I did not, all I have are crap old ones.
Timing timing timing. Also not sure how I ended up in prospect ranking in 1v1. I won 8 out of 10 and averaged 5 goals a game...scoring as many as 13 in one game. Not sure I get the ranking system.
Still taking the overall rating into account with your MMR, so if you haven't played a ton, will start you in prospect. Then you will advance quickly though if you're putting up those numbers after the initial 10 games.
I thought I was almost through Challenger III before the last update, nope, pod II out of V. This fucking game, I mostly took 10 days off to finish up Witcher and start Far Cry Primal and back to sucking again.
Rocket League has cost me one so far. Gave it the Gronk spike sometime last fall. NM, upon further review, closer to end of last summer ...
So, what's more important for ranking up? Indiviual score or winning? I'm consistently on top of my team but i'm getting teamed up with so many trash players that i cant get a good win streak going. I just want to get away from prospect so i dont have to deal with so much incompetence.
I think winning is a little more important, don't know for sure though. I like to play off of the ball a lot on offense and that usually means hanging around midfield waiting for something to open up. I'm pretty consistently on the lower end of points, but have gotten good at stealing possessions defensively and getting the ball forward for counterattacking. Doesn't often get rewarded with points but it helps keep your opponent off the scoreboard.
Here's prob my favorite goal to date. Not the most skillful, but I thought it was coo https://gfycat.com/MiserablePettyIndianpangolin
It's 100% based on winning and the ratings of the people you're playing against. Individual performance has zero effect. Friend and I who played PC carried our other friend who didn't play until RL released on XB1 to Challenger Elite in standard. He probably averaged less than 100 points a game. It's really not good for him though since if he goes to play by himself he's going to get destroyed. Because of that I've mostly been playing on alternate accounts the last week or so with him to try and allow him to improve against people closer to his skill. I just center the ball a bunch and act as a safety net, try not to score too much. I zoned out last night on an alt account and scored 9 goals on 10 shots and had over 1,700 points though. That was unfortunate.
It's only for ranked though. If he plays just standard non-ranked, his hidden MMR or whatever it's called will put him with people closer to his skill. If he runs ranked though, he will be getting killed. Have an alt account also to play with some noob friends who hated playing with my regular account because they wouldn't even have a chance to hit the ball. I basically go at 50%, no aerials, just clear and center and watch the chaos.
I can't shoot worth a shit lately. Assists and D is fine, but I am missing routinely easy shots or putting them wide. Frustrating.
You guys use the default controls, or did you switch stuff up? When I first started playing I found it easier switching boost to A and jump to B. As I'm starting to learn new tricks though I'm thinking of maybe moving boost to a trigger or bumper (xb360 controller on PC). Also, another good vid to help you get up quicker for aerials.
I think I am going to move towards doubles. Kinda learned to dribble, solo stuff is too many goal sitters so thinking actually the 2vs2 is the right way to play this game. Solo Standard relies so much on the luck of the draw teammates, I think doubles is the way to go.
I change air roll to LB. I don't really use it for aerial hits or freestyling like ultra pros do but it's very useful to make sure you land right side up.
Hardest thing to get, besides aerials, is rolling off the walls. If you can get used to, which I cannot, holding away (left or right depending on the side) and making contact, can do some amazing shit. I am still going too far underneath and fucking it up.
Players can pass through the net, but the ball can't. It just ramps up the net for dunks. Fucking awesome. Although Psyonix said it will be out later this Spring, which could be tomorrow or fucking June.
You should really work on making passive/aggressive comments to the people you play with. It seems to work for me. Am I right Karl Hungus?
Nice! Have a friend in Detroit who is only Xbone, was out there for the City/Pool game two weeks ago, he had just bought this so we played some split screen and just massacred. Not sure if possible, but hopefully can eventually make cross-platform grouping work.
PC, PS4, Xbone level 52 on PC 23 on xbox in the teens on PS4 EDIT: I see your PSN below your avatar, I'll add you.
