It'll be fun to watch some of the young position players to see how they progress. Massey, MJ, BWJ, Vinnie all appear to be future regulars. Jury still out on everyone else though. Looking at the projected Opening Day lineup and the OF looks like
I don’t know who does the KCSN Royals pod (seems like all the pods are shuffled now), but they had a cool stat from spring training. Obviously stats in ST mean Jack squat but a nice trend. Last year we had the worst K/BB rate in the majors with like a 2.2, so far in ST were 7th with like a 3.4. Sounds like Aldred’s “each AB is a chess match” has finally been scrapped and the news staff is saying “throw some fucking strikes”. Next step, find some pitchers that don’t suck.
Salvy got his triple!!!!!! (Another double and he advanced to third on the throw, should rule it a triple for more fun.) Now 4-4 and 5 RBIs in the 5th.
A week out from Opening Day. Predicted lineup? 1. Melendez (LF) 2. Witt Jnr (SS) 3. Perez (C) 4. Pasquantino (1B) 5. Reyes (DH) 6. Olivares (RF) 7. Massey (2B) 8. Dozier (3B) 9. Isbel (CF)
What’s a realistic aim for this season? Top 3 of the division? Or is our pitching going to be too much of a dumpster fire?
None of the projection systems like us. Vegas doesn't either. And it's hard to blame them. Unless we get some crazy development from our young pitchers, the staff will be subpar. The bottom half of the lineup is going to be really bad. Bullpen should be ok. If this team somehow gets to 80 wins then we should consider the season a success.
Hunter Dozier has been scratched from Thursday's Cactus League lineup. Dozier took a ball off his lip during batting practice, but it's not a major concern. He should be back to normal in the next day or two.
Yeah, this just speaks to how awful our outfield will be this year. It's going to be an offensive trainwreck.
