The season died when we lost a hundred 1-run games to the Tigers and Yankees. At least that's what it felt like.
Outscored 43-12 in a 4 game sweep to the A's. Ouch. Still proud of this team for keeping it a little suspenseful until Mid-September after all the injuries that happened. Looking ahead to next year, I've gotta think Volquez is done. Rotation should open up: Duffy - Kennedy - Ventura - Vargas - TBD. The FA pitching market this year is pretty awful so I don't know that we would go that route unless it's on a 1 or 2 year deal to a veteran. So where does our 5th starter come from? Pray that the Strahminator can start? Aside from him, none of our pitching prospects appear to be Major League-ready.
just would like to point out that the royals demise is in direct correlation with the changing of the thread title
Can't count on either one of them to stay healthy. If they're healthy, that's a nice bonus but not something I'd depend on.
I want to take my old man to Spring Training next year. Anyone gone? What's the best approach for tickets or hotel or whatever? Any advice is much appreciated from you dudes.
went this past year although i stayed in buckeye, az w/ a buddy's in-laws. tickets through the royals were pretty affordable. went to a day game, had tickets behind home plate on the 3rd base side (royals dugout is 3rd base) and was in the shade the entire game
So it was awesome, is what you're saying. I assume we can just get down there, and then buy tickets to a couple games on the day of? Not hard to get?
It was great. Spent the first 5 innings glued to my seat and then explored the stadium once they subbed in the scrubs. I bought tix a month before the game and had my pick of the litter. The closer you get to the day of the game the price increased.
Tomorrow the broadway bridge is getting renamed the Buck O'Neil bridge. What blows my mind is that it's been 10 years since he died. Insane how time flies.
A lot of stories about Moore and his comments that we have to shed payroll. He has close to a lifetime pass but Soria, Kennedy, Young deals really f'd us and we won't be able to get out of them.
I wouldn't say the Kennedy deal is thaaaat bad. He was one of the best pitchers in the league in the second half and if he performs well moving forward he'll opt out anyways
I agree. He was a pitcher we wanted and targeted and we paid the market price for him. If he opts out great. If not, not so great. One interesting thing Jon Heyman said is that he wouldn't be surprised if we picked up Wades option then shopped him. For the packages closers were getting id be 100% behind that.
Looking more and more like Wader is on the move. I trust Dayton will jack the asking price up high enough. Wish we could move Moose and Esky as well but it's not looking like there's a good market for them. Dufffy and Cain's names getting thrown out a lot. Haven't seen many Hosmer rumors yet.
I'm hesitant about letting Duffy go because I'm not convinced this organization can ID and develop starting pitching talent. Everyone else is fine as long as we get good returns.
I think we should be aggressively shopping Davis and Cain, but Duffy? That one doesn't make sense to me. A controllable guy at a primary position of need who is by all accounts a fantastic clubhouse guy for an organization which values clubhouse guys more than most? Yeah, go ahead and try to keep Duffman please.
Cardinals Polls@cardspolls Report: MLB Radio Reporting Royals Cardinals talking Davis Cain Escobar to STL, Bader Rosenthal Wong others to KC #STLCards
I don't see any way that happens(that particular STL deal that is). Moore said last night that he didn't see us trading away a lot of the roster
Fine with trading Wade for sure, if there's one thing I trust Dayton to do, it's build a bullpen. Cain, as much as it pains me, I'm fine with trading as well. Anyone else doesn't make a ton of sense unless we're selling everybody or just getting way too much in return. Kind of afraid the only player we keep from the core is an overpaid, overrated Hosmer. I have no basis for this whatsoever.
It might be all you can get. Soler will eventually cut down his swing and be an encanarcion type run producer
