I went to look where Wilson should be placed all-time and saw Matt Ryan is 10th in career passing TDs. I didn't realize that at all
Kind of ballsy for Wilson to act like the org is the one hurting his legacy when his awful INT cost himself and his org a second ring.
I don't think it is crazy. I just don't really understand the dispute. He got a big contract. Is this about organizational decision making? The roster? Regardless, I think Seattle is crazy to trade him unless they replace him with Watson or someone equally talented.
I'm not gonna make a list and argue like this is MJ v. Lebron. But I don't think it is hard for anyone to imagine that Russ could end his career as one of the best to ever play QB. Moreover, I don't think it is "crazy" that RW believes he is one the best QBs ever. Don't we expect all athletes to have that sort of belief?
At least we're finally seeing the real Russell Wilson after a decade filled with cliches and motivational quotes every time he spoke.
I went to the Cowboys-Seahawks playoff game in 2019 and watched Seattle run-run-pass until crunch time, at which point they unleashed russ like they shouldve all along. he almost singlehandedly won it Russ has covered up years of bad drafting and shitty playcalling. Hes also more valauable than Carroll. Thats not debatable
Sure. Russ is awesome. Over the last 3-5 years, he's been hurt by a lack of talent around him on both sides of the ball. He was also helped by absurd talent around him on defense, in particular, for the first half of his career that helped him win a SB and almost got him a second. It's hard to win in the NFL at the highest levels for a decade straight, and it's harder when your QB is making $30M instead of $1M like he was back then. On the whole, it's hard for me to believe that the Seahawks have held back his legacy as a QB. If he wants to say he doesn't think Seattle can help him with that moving forward, that's fine, but does anyone really believe the Bears or Cowboys are going to do much in that regard, either?
I don’t get paid like Mickey Loomis does. That’s his job. Don’t you ruin this for me. We released our punter today, so we are on our way.
Yes, winning at a high level consistently is impossible, but to a QB with a 30 million price tag, it almost doesnt matter. Salary cap woes arent *their* problem. Thats for the FO to deal with. Offensive-minded HC, talented roster, smart front office. More control. MVP recognition. That's what they want. You get that with guys like Lafleur and Shanahan calling plays, or Bruce Arians ceding control to Brady. I cant fault Wilson for wanting to try something different later in his career, plenty of Seattle seasons have in duds with him playing the good soldier, so why not try something different?
No one can deny Russ is a great QB. One of the top 5-7 guys in the league over the last decade. But he's not Mahomes or Rodgers at this point. Russ wants to be the face and put up numbers and I understand why, but last year when he did that he turned the ball over 17 times. Rodgers and Mahomes have each combined for 15 turnovers the last two seasons. Also, the first two coaches you mention are both run-game first guys. Russ doesn't seem to want that anymore. I guess I just find it fascinating that any QB would go to these lengths to leak or even publicly state on the record that everyone around him is holding him back from being recognized for being how good he is, and he's doing it knowing he's probably going to eventually walk back into that room with those players and coaches next year. How often does that happen? And it's especially interesting coming from someone who has been Wilson's level of conscious about his image to date.
You seriously can’t believe there’s anything resembling a rational argument for him being a top 5 QB of all time, right? I’m not saying he’s not a superstar and one of the best to currently do it, but that’s not what he’s talking about.
QBs better than Russ over the last decade or so. Rogers, Brady, Brees, Manning and I’ll go ahead and say Mahomes. You go all time and the list gets longer. Russ probably a top 15 all time guy and maybe top 10.
I saw on Twitter something like Cam Jordan for Russ, but Cam's only on a 3 yr$52M deal. We'll give you Analzone and white Michael Vick, tho
Bottom-three pass blocking OL five times as a pro and never had an OL in top half of pass-block grade. Yikes Seattle had some seriously overrated front office types
His interview with Bill Simmons was the most boring, generic QB interview ever. He is painfully uninteresting
His OLs have been flawed but trying to run around and extend every play puts them in a bad spot as well. I know edge rushers always enjoy playing Russ for this reason and I’m sure that’s only grown as other QBs have been getting rid of the ball faster and faster. That said, Russ is awesome and I’d like to see what that weirdo could do somewhere else.
is the OL really that bad or does it look worse because he insists on scrambling around for 12 seconds every play trying to extend everything
Rodgers, Breese, Mahomes, Brady and probably Big Ben are all guys who played last year ahead of Wilson on the all time list currently.
Wilson doesn't help his OLs with pass blocking, but Seattle has also spent some of those years starting converted DL on OL and generally going cheap up front. When Wilson says his OL has sucked, he's not wrong.
Brady Montana Marino Elway Unitas Favre Rodgers Mahommes Manning Brees He has zero argument of being anywhere near that list Starr Roethlisberger Young Aikmen Kelly Warner Moon Fouts Eli He is at best towards the bottom of this list
John Schneider has a couple great drafts and then it all dried up. They can’t scout OL for shit and have little draft assets. I’d rather cut them and keep Russ. I don’t trust JS with first round picks
How does it all work with the draft, is Schneider making the board and then Carroll making the pick? The way they are set up makes it difficult to point fingers. They sure don't operate much like Schneider's mentors Ron Wolf/Ted Thompson. In some ways for the better and in others for the worse.
My son is a Seahawks fan and is going to lock himself in his room for days when Russ gets traded. The roster is such a mess though the Seahawks don’t really have a choice at this point if they want to rebuild.
