Contrary to your belief, Nick doesn't talk about other schools on the trail. The kids themselves say as much in interviews with these site goobers. He'll go into "you're going to hear this about playing time, or this about my retirement" but never specifically mentions schools. He doesn't really need to, though.
Kiffin isn't ever getting offered the job, it has nothing to do with his potential as a coach. I say ever, maybe if he maintains 2021 Lane for the better part of the next decade he could, but it's unlikely.
Any coach would be idiotic to follow Saban unless your an UA alum. Dabo fits but why would he ever leave Clemson? He walks on water according to Newspring. Unless you win the natty and/or have a heisman player, then you’re underachieving. No win situation.
I have no idea. Most of it is just fan speculation. But just the way they all talk about each other, it doesn't appear that Kirby and Nick are still close. Maybe because Kirby has come closer than any former assistant in besting him. Again, I don't see why Kirby would want to come Bama anyways. So it doesn't really matter.
Exactly this, which is why I find the definitive statements pretty funny. At the end of the day Bama will go after whomever is the best coach available, no matter the previous history. We heard for years that Kirby had burned all the bridges for coming back to Athens and all the boosters hated him.
all that is nice in a world devoid of irrational human behavior but Alabama is going to basically be able to pick whichever coach they want to replace Saban. The question is who would Alabama want.
Believe what you want, man. One sells unprecedented NFL draft success and championships, the other sells an up and coming, "future powerhouse" and uses what he needs to get his equal share. I don't know why you guys are sensitive about this, I don't blame either for their approach.
on the flipside they will pay you a shitload of money to coach a 50 five stars with the best facilities and support staff in college football. For the first few years at least you aren't going to find an easier place to win.
If he still has Georgia humming along then I'm sure we make the call. I just don't think the fit makes a lot of sense and I'm not sure why Kirby would be interested. I don't think Dabo fits either.
I mean, okay, sure. I sat down and listened to the man's pitch with guys like AJ, Destin Hood, Mark Barron, and Ivan Matchett, but I'm just rivals posting, mb.
we will be targeting NFL coaches with college experience. Basically try to replicate Saban 2.0 and go down from there.
We all know Gruden is going to take over after Saban retires. He had his hair parted on the side in an interview the other day.
All college football coaches are idiots, and all of them think that they're capable of far more than they are. Being a megalomaniac is part of the job description.
What I will say is I have no idea how he would handle the situations if the scripts were flipped, but I still remember basically bumming a trip off of them to go see the facilities/meet him when they were being recruited (I was barely a starter on the HS team). I went into it thinking about what he was going to say, and I still vividly remember - being a Bama fan - that I'd tell them how he was going to take over the SEC and beat Urban Meyer consistently. He'd gone 7-6 and 12-2 respectively in their classes ('08/09), and neither time did he ever mention Florida or Urban Meyer. The guy cockily sat there and in convincing fashion more or less told them Bama was going to be the premier program in the country and was the best place for their development on and off the field, and they were going to win titles. Mark and AJ were closer to going out of state than people realized, his approach on that first visit in '07 kept Mark from likely going to Florida.
This actually made it even more impressive and it was smart as hell to hire briles Pittman was smart with his hires
alright, whatever you guys say. I've shared stuff about those classes and guys in our thread going back years now, but you're right, I can't for sure say what he does now. I can only tell you what a pitch from him sounded like back then. I'm the one posting like I'm on rivals, btw. Once again, the Georgia fans are insufferable during the season if you mention anything that slights their precious coach/team/program. We just need Shook and Euro back to complete them.
I love making fun of Kirby on here, and I really want to dislike him, but he was shockingly normal and likable when I met him. He’s terrible at blackjack.
Really has nothing to do with Georgia or Kirby. Just saw a dude post kind of weird stuff on a message board so I made fun of it. I'm sorry, I thought that's what we did here.
Sure It's weird to recount a story about a recruiting trip 12-13 years ago, noted. Definitely one of the weirder things I've seen posted on here tbh.
Yea. Your post was weird. Your idealistic view of Saban made me think of the wrestling guy. I appreciate your post though it made me laugh.
For a guy that basically only makes vanilla comments about golf or complains about people disrespecting Georgia, I suppose it would be a little weird.
Sure man. It reminded me of the stuff old ladies post about Auburn on Facebook. But this is America, you can post weird shit all you want.
100% there will be a long line of applicants to be the next head coach at Bama. Best job in college football right now. My point is why leave a place where you are making close to $10 million a year, treated like royalty, have your own legacy, etc to take a job that you can only hope to match the previous coach’s success. I guess it’s more quality of life than prestige but Dabo would be an idiot to leave Clemson for Bama. Statistically, the next coach will fail. Impossible to follow a legend unless the legend has lost a step. I think the discussion was based on if Bama hired a coach right now, who would it be? If Saban doesn’t make the playoffs for a couple years and everyone is ready to move on, then it becomes a totally different discussion. Pittman is perfect for Arkansas and a great example of how tricky it is to hire the right coach. Very few people in the media were excited about that hire. Congrats to all the hogs. Hoping Beamer works out long term for us. Lot of work to do based on this past weekend.
I figured there for sure would have been a futurama jarred Saban head on the internet somewhere but instead I stumbled on this
Can y'all do this in the SEC thread? This is supposed to be about Pittman. I will say I hope he does a better job of hiring asst coaches when we lose OC/DC than Bert did and we blow it up
