It’s Marin County. The apartments and low income are drawn into one or two elementary in every school district. Calling them Gerrymandered would be being kind. High schools are can’t miss though. I’m at Sir Francis Drake high school right now.
Depends on time. I drive from Novato to the financial every morning in 35 minutes leaving at 4:30am. I’ve left at 7am and it’s taken 1.5 hours.
Snap judgement: either she divorces me for not agreeing to the move and a dream job or I go broke by moving. Win win.
Second most densely populated city behind NYC so it's extra crazy. I work with people who live in the East Bay that make brutal commutes, either over the Bay Bridge or at the mercy of BART But I personally enjoy driving around the actual city a whole hell of a lot more than Boston, Philly, NYC or Atlanta. I don't go over the bridges at rush hour times and actually rarely drive in rush hour at all because I use MUNI so much, so that skews my perception I'm sure I used to get anxiety about simply having to turn left in Boston at any time of day. But here I go on evening and weekend drives pretty often because I legit enjoy cruising around the Sunset, Twin Peaks, Pacific Heights, Castro, Richmond, Haight, NOPA, etc areas. Within the city, the Financial District is a nightmare but out near me 19th Ave is really the only street that gets super backed up IMO It seems very grid oriented here which many of the older cities in the NE can't claim
what would it cost me to get you to take me on food tour in chronological order based on your posts in this thread?
a 1/4 of Venom OG from BASA Collective and a 1/4 of Mendocino Nights from Harvest but I really only eat one meal a day so that would have to take place over a couple weeks/months uhh the City might ban vaping sales?? https://www.sfexaminer.com/the-city...val-in-sf-setting-stage-for-referendum-fight/
Spent much of yesterday reading at Ocean Beach. Hoping to do so again today. Breakfast at Tennessee Grill
the fog is back and everything is comfy again because I'm in a hoodie and sweatpants Here are five cities perfect for exploring by bike because of their well-managed infrastructure (designated bike lanes, roadside rentals, international airport access), sense of biker-friendliness (from both drivers and pedestrians), and visual appeal (easy to look at and get around). San Francisco While famously hilly, San Francisco rewards cyclists with stellar views and sensational cuisine. Over the last decade, the city has invested more than 100 million dollars in cycling infrastructure, establishing more than 200 miles of bike lanes. Although both Portland and Seattle are known for being excellent commuter cities for bikers, neither can compare to the City by the Bay. Trip tip: Zigzag through “The Wiggle”—one of San Francisco’s iconic paths that gives cyclists scenic views of the Golden Gate Park and the famous “Painted Ladies” row houses of Alamo Square. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/travel/lists/activities/urban-biking-best-way-see-city-lessen-carbon-footprint https://www.nationalgeographic.com/...erica/united-states/california/san-francisco/
in this week's installment....do you like going to concerts or impressing girls by making it seem like you have good taste in music? Julia Holter is at The Chapel on August 2nd and Nilufer Yanya is at The Independent on October 1st. Both will sell out pretty soon so get tickets ASAP. Those are two perfect shows for a date. Or solo. Whatever floats your boat, just go to them and be sure you wear earplugs! out of curiosity I looked up the fines for various parking/traffic offenses in SF, holy shit this city (or state) does not mess around. You commit any number of offenses with regards to a handicap spot and you are paying $875 first offense A $100 fine for commercial vehicles idling while parked, awesome Kaiser Permanente is gonna spend like $1 billion to build a big complex on some vacant lots near the 19th St BART station in Oakland, that seems pretty huge
$76 if you park during street sweeping. $1,200 if you get towed for a parking violation. My company gets a few trucks towed a year. We had a guy get $800 in tickets in month. Hard to do with a commercial parking sticker
I don't know the specific language of it, but I know that they use the "obstruction of traffic without permit" rampantly which is pretty vague obviously on the face - and that is something like $600. I think it was intended for people actually blocking major traffic lanes and they have just extrapolated it to a lot of other areas but not sure (only going off my seemingly savvy uber driver's expertise on a ride in SF).
Frankie Montas getting suspended was such a bummer. Weeknight trips to Oakland to see a top 10 pitcher for like $20? You can't beat that. Thankfully we still have Matt Chapman in our lives heading to the Coliseum again today because going to games there >>>> Had wings from Kezar Pub last night. Man they're great
looks like SF is the first city to ban e-cigs and vaping product sales https://sfist.com/2019/06/25/san-francisco-becomes-first-city-in-us-to-outlaw-e-cigarette-sales/ and the board of supervisors also rejected an appeal of the 200-bed homeless shelter (Navigation Center) that has been proposed for the Embarcadero area https://www.sfexaminer.com/the-city...e-200-bed-homeless-shelter-on-the-waterfront/ I'm excited for the Pride Parade this weekend. Sunday June 30th at 10:30 AM PT. Market St from the Embarcadero to the Civic Center will be sweet I was down by City Hall on a long walk last night and it was in rainbow colors, pretty cool
SF Chronicle had a couple awesome old pictures from way back in the day. Lone Mountain on what is now the USF campus but was at the time I believe a women's college crazy how there is nothing behind it
I'm going to be traveling to SF for work alone in August and I'm looking for recommendations on a few high end Japanese restaurants. Most of the top ones I'm coming across from Yelp, etc are intimate places with tasting menus only. Those are fine if I'm with someone but a bit of a weird vibe by myself. Looking for somewhere I can order off a menu and sit at a bar/sushi bar. That being said I reached out to Benu to see if they take reservations for 1. I'm staying at the Ritz on Stockton St - Any other seafood restaurants with a decent bar area would be appreciated as well. TIA
The saga continues and during said saga, they’ve fallen more in love with Mrs. Block. She just wrapping up two days of meetings in the city and they’re adding more direct reports and money to her potential role. Looking like the Block family may be packing our bags soon.

Going to do a few days work in Palo Alto in August. Wife wants to tag along with our 6 year old. Is there stuff for them to do or is this a terrible idea?
Of course there is a ton, you can head to SF, go to Oakland/ Berkeley, drive 90 minutes south to Monterey aquarium, head over 17 to the beach at Santa Cruz, San Jose is 20 mins away ur pretty central to everything.......stanford campus is pretty much a large park in itself they will be close to a ton
Thanks. I’ve taken them on work trips before when I would drive. I’ll have to see what I can work out.
Bring the little one to Stanford and get some pics of him or her romping around their huge and lovely campus. Stanford Dish Loop Trail would be worth checking out The Blackfish get a late-night drunk burrito somewhere in the Mission. Can't beat that IMO Do you like The Grateful Dead? Walk through the Haight-Ashbury area, down the Panhandle to Alamo Square and get photos of the Painted Ladies and see all the amazing Victorian houses Golden Gate Park is a great way to kill a few hours: Strawberry Hill, Conservatory of Flowers, deYoung Museum, Japanese Tea Garden are all well worth checking out. And you can shoot over from the park to the 9th and Irving area for great low-key food options in the Sunset Go to the Embarcedro and take pics of the Bay Bridge. Walk down along the piers to Coit Tower. Check out the sea lions at Pier 39 by Fisherman's Wharf. Walk to Ft Mason and to Crissy Field. Then check out the Palace of Fine Arts. Then go to Ft Point and see the Golden Gate Bridge. Would be a wonderful walk, especially with some vape cartridges or edibles Powell St, Market St, California St, Lombard St, etc all have elite architecture. This city is right there with NYC, Boston, DC, Chicago in that regard. Be sure to just soak that in We also have the best Chinatown and North Beach is a sweet Little Italy so tons of food options there
I was in SF area last weekend. Drove 2 hours north and hiked the trails at Bodega Head. Also did a wine tour in Sonoma. Enjoyed both but the hiking was p awesome. Not hard at all and great scenery
San Rafael is pretty expensive if your looking to buy a house it’s about a million for your average home and rent for a 1 bedroom 2300-2500 or so.........nice little town I know it like the back of my hand if you need to see if a area is good or not.......Novato about 10 mins north is still crazy expensive compared to the rest of the country but a tad bit more affordable for Marin County
Thanks man! That's what I was wondering . . . . basically, I'll need to ask for a San Francisco salary and comp package.
