Going to be in Savannah from Fri-Sun for a wedding. Probably going fishing Friday, but will have Friday night and all day Saturday to do whatever I please. Any cool bars, restaurants, etc. I should check out?
Savannah Smiles is great. 37th Street is a blast! Not really, it's the ghetto. River Street and City Market are lots of fun. They are not far from each other. Maybe a quarter mile. Eating, I would go the Chart House. But there are plenty of other options.
I'm not sure exactly. My wife booked it. I know it is close to the river and has a rooftop bar. Cotton Sail, I think? Any good places to watch the derby?
We stayed at the Hyatt. Right across the street is a place called JJ's I think. It's a hole in the wall sports bar, cool place and I'm sure they'll have the race on
Was there last weekend. Was kind of disappointed. Drove to Tybee Island one morning to eat at The Breakfast Club and walk around the beach. It was pretty good.
Thanks fellas. Apparently, I'm going to Vic's on the River for dinner Friday night. Probably just wander around Saturday and see what I can find.
Buzz over to Tybee Island and hit the Crab Shack. It's about 15 miles outside Savannah, but it's well worth it.
Although aware of the MB situation my point is accurate in regards to HHI. I'm there once a month for work & every 3rd plate is from Ohio.
My understanding was that it was nicer than Tybee and not much further of a drive. We were only there for an afternoon.
I'm not personally much of a beach guy, I'd rather take a week and go see some historical things in Boston or DC but I know the Outer Banks, Hilton Head and Myrtle are very popular destinations for Ohioans. I thought it was quite nice though
has anyone done St. Patty's day here? thinking about it for a bachelor party but I don't know many people that have gone (the two that did loved it). for people who have done it, would you consider it a good bachelor party destination? also, any idea what the roundabout cost for lodging would be for the weekend? are there large houses available for rent? we would probably have about 15 guys.
ehhh, not sure about bachelor party destination. St. Paddy's is cool but its just a smaller Mardis Gras in a lesser town.
hey buddy. Go to Vic's on the River or Olde Pink House for dinner The Florence is Hugh Acheson's new place in Savannah and is supposed to be awesome Vinnie Van GoGo's for pizza B&D for burgers Six Pence is an awesome Irish pub McDonoughs is another solid pub that has karaoke The Public is a cool bar/restaurant with good food Pinkie Master's Lounge is the diviest of dive bars - and was the local HQ for Jimmy Carter's campaign back in the day. great pics on the wall. Circa 1875 is a great upscale bar spot for pregame and late night drinks Treehouse is a solid upstairs bar Churchills and Tondees are both on Bay street and are good spots go walk on River Street during the day to get the scene in, but it's overrated that should do you well for a weekend.
DERAIL!! I will be in Columbia and Charleston in middle June to see the GF's sister. Recommendations for either? Think we are staying at the King Charles in Charleston.
I was there last week and saw a shirt in a window that said "burr it's cold in Ohio" also an "official" OSU bar an "official" Browns bar
Its a great time, but not sure its a bachelor's day spot. Great place to drink and Im sure there are good golf spots. Tybee Island's beach sucks compared to Hilton Head.
Agree with Vinnie Van Go Go's for some good pizza and people watching. Kind of an under the radar place, but big fan of breakfast at Clary's Diner. Slightly more touristy, but fan of Mrs. Wilke's and Pirate House.
Is Mrs. Wilke's worth the wait? Wife and I will be in town the last week of May and are thinking of doing that Wednesday for brunch.
I guess. I've never had to wait longer than about 10-15 minutes. I thoroughly enjoy it and leave feeling incredibly fat any time I've been there.
Ok, everything I've read says you should get there at ten to be part of the first group in or the wait ends up being an hour and a half.
Vic's on the River for dinner one night. It was great. Got burgers and afternoon drinks at B&D. There are two, we were at the one with a big patio. Went to a rooftop bar at Cotton Sail one night. It was pretty sweet. We hit up a bunch of different bars walking around one day but I can't remember the names. Just walk around and you'll find plenty to do.
