Yea I agree about Husk in general. The one in Savannah is still a great meal, but felt like the Charleston and Nashville ones were better. Savannah is a good market for it. And they have a nice building theyre in.
Saw Flock the Wok mentioned by Condé Nast. Looks like a bunch of stuff is closed on Sundays so Husk is the choice. Plus we are west coasters and I wanted some good Southern Food.
the pimento cheese toast is great, and the strawberry dessert is absolute flames if they're still doing those from a couple weeks ago. the gardineria vegetables are very spicy but good if you can handle the heat.
I absolutely love Sean Brock but the Savannah location has really stepped up since he left the franchise. I still love the original in Charleston the most, but the building in Savannah is better and they are keeping his food alive even after he left. The upstairs at the Savannah location is beautiful. Nashville is the lesser Husk, imo, but that also has to do with personal visits and is still a good meal.
Getting to Savannah Wednesday night. Staying at Talking Head's house. Planning on hitting up Alley Cat Lounge, I have a Husk reservation and tickets for a nighttime ghost tour. Probably go to Moon River Brewing at some point. Leave Saturday. What am I not including that I need to do
In the process of booking reservations for an upcoming Savannah trip. Common Thread, Pizzeria Vittoria, and Cotton & Rye are 3 of the 4 dinners so far. Does Olde Pink House still suck?
I've lived here for 5 years and had zero desire to go to Pink House. Wife and I really like Mint to Be Mojito Bar. I really like their empanadas. They have a speak easy in the back that opens around 5:30 each day.
Flew out of Savannah and my flight was delayed an hour because they didn't have enough ground crew to load luggage? Shameful
Try... Stone and Webster for a steakhouse Madam Butterfly for Korean ETang for authentic Sichuan chinese I still love the pink house but elizabeths is great too as someone else mentioned.
Thanks for the info, folks. ETang it is. I chose Cotton & Rye over Public because they accept reservations, but it was basically a coin flip. Is that a solid decision?
Going to Savannah next month for my sister in law’s 21st bday. Been a few years since I’ve been there. Assume we’ll be hitting up Savannah smiles but what are some other places we should look into? Bars and restaurants.
Savannah Smiles is great. This is also a blast for 21st bday, its a dive that can get seedy/rowdy. https://mcdonoughslounge.com/karaoke/ restaurants you should be covered by whats been posted itt
Mint to Be is a pretty good Mojito bar with really good empanadas Wife and I rotate through Treylor Park, Hitch, and Double Wide when we go Downtown. Sister of the New South is really good, too You can also go the touristy route and do Pirate House. It's expensive for what it is, though.
Headed to my parents for christmas and will be driving up to savannah for two days with my gf. She made us a reservation months ago for olde pink house for our last night, so no changing that. I have a Husk reservation for the other night. Think I'll do Flock the Wok for lunch one day. Any recs for a casual lunch and/or breakfast spot? Looking for a biscuits and gravy type spot. Guessing that's most places.
Breakfast and Lunch I still love Collins Quarter for the location. Little Duck Diner too has good breakfast. Lunch, Zunzi's or Zunzibar is super casual. Crystal Beer Parlor is solid too. Sorry Charlie's Oyster Bar good lunch too. I would also check out Plant Riverside's restaurant offerings. Right there on the river. New development with sorta an outdoor mall feel.
