Jackson made it clear on social media that he was not a Rihanna fan. “She’s made a career of spewing degenerate filth while badmouthing America every chance she gets. Why is the NFL showcasing this crap? Rihanna SHOULD NOT be the halftime performer!!” Rihanna has a long-standing dislike of Trump. Surprised no one has mentioned the Aerosmith, Mary J., nsync, Spears and Nelly. The guest performances alone made that one a lot of fun. Any halftime performer that gets conservatives exposing themselves for the racist, misogynist pieces of trash they are is a good performance imo.
I dunno, I enjoyed it despite not being a big fan of any singular performer. I guess I just enjoy surprise guests more than most.

I mean, stadiums can have really bad acoustics from a concert standpoint, and with how big super bowl halftime shows are, of course the performers lip sync. There's no way that you could pull off a show like that, in a stadium like that, and sound exactly like you do in a recording studio. Literally impossible -- unless of course, you lip sync or use a backing track. I'm not blaming the performers, because I get it.
They've been making them lip sync it for years. Hell Chili Peppers didn't even plug their instruments in during the Bruno Mars performance.
Her performance was visually stunning. When she ended with her alone on the platform, I had some feels. That was some powerful shit. Prince will always be in a category of his own. But I’d put Rihanna up with anyone else, including Beyoncé.

Weird to think that anyone thinks Rihanna didn’t or doesn’t use backing tracks all the time in her performances. They are prevalent in all genres of commercial live music now. This is not a knock on Rihanna (or any other artists). You pretty much believe in Santa Claus if you think that pop/rock/country/rap, etc. act you saw live used zero tracks.

Prince was better than, like, Bruno Mars or Aerosmith, but he’s transformed into an act people say they liked to establish their musical taste bonafides and his popularity amongst our generation is 90% attributable to Charlie Murphy.
