Hafley needs to happen and would make me postpone killing myself
I don't think any of yall will ever truly appreciate the despair of being a Rutgers football fan
Its not just about being incompetent or sucking. I've followed other sucky incompetent regimes. It doesn't get more incompetent than Billy King's Nets. The guy mortgaged more than half a decade of the teams future for a single second round playoff appearance. But still despite that it still wasn't as bad as Rutgers. Billy King for all his fault was trying to improve the team the best way he knew how. Rutgers on the other hand does not give a single fuck about about improving anything. The school president does not give a single fuck about athletics. If it was up to them they would just cash those B1G checks and disband the program. They had to be dragged kicking and screaming into big time athletics and despite seing the fruits of its success (B1G invite sold out stadium etc) are more than content to piss it all away.
Basically what they want is to have an athletics department that makes no noise causes no scandals(still fail remarkably at this) and does just enough to get by and not have fans yelling at them. There is no initiative to succeed or be competitive. If fans weren't rioting they wouldn't have fired Chris Ash. The problem is fans are starting to not care any more. They've lost like 30,000 season tickets and I'll be surprised if anyone is in the stadium next year. So they can hire the whole campanile family and have grandma pack the lunches if they want because people are tired of trying to drag them out of their own way.
Looking forward to the NY Post headline...
“Five Families Coup at Rutgers”
Because they published the term sheet. If their hang up was personal use, then it would be pretty easy for them to limit it since it wasn’t a part of the agreed upon terms.
I’ve been speaking this into existence since 2011
I don't know what kind of opportunities are out there for defensive coaches in this era, but I have to think Hafley would have better options than Rutgers in the next few years. If nothing else, he can probably get a NFL DC job and have a path to being an NFL job within a year or two if he wants it.
Didn't see the term sheet, admittedly. Just speaking from prior experience, it's a common hang up.
Hiring the position coach brother of the current interim head coach sounds like the best move.
This actually sounds really wholesome and lovely. It could bring the whole “lunch pail” player thing to a new level.
Long time lurker, first time poster here.
Hafley would be a great hire for Rutgers on paper with his resume and north jersey connections but I think that as good as he is he would be in over his head just the same as Chris ash was. I feel like you can be the greatest recruiter ever but you’re always going to have problems being successful in keeping New Jersey kids in-state. I think it’s only gotten harder since they have joined the big ten too.
In my opinion Rutgers screwed the pooch when they failed to land a legitimate head coach after Schiano walked the first time. The momentum of the game 2006 season was gone by that point, yes. However it was still a decent job to have and rather than splurge on a big name hire then, they promoted Kyle flood and it all went to hell after that.
Barring a miracle whoever Rutgers hires is going to be set up to fail from the start and that’s a shame.
Wait are you a rutgers fan? We have lurking rutgers fans?
hire butch davis you cowards
With the resurgence of boomer coaches that attained some level of success in the 2000s, I wonder what Charlie Weis is up to these days.
He's on the committee of the board of homeowners association in Palm Beach County. He's originally from New Jersey. #Rutgers Scarlet Knights GIVE THE MAN A CALL
If we call now he could leave tomorrow and get his Hoveround up here in time for Spring.
and his son can be OC/HC in waiting!
hire larry fedora you cowards i want to enjoy watching that loser fail
This guy starts off with a "you haven't been paying attention" and then compares Rutgers' refusal to throw big money at a coach to Illinois.
Illinois' AD fired Cubit his first day on the job and quickly gave Lovie a 6 yr/21 mil deal. And then we extended him and got mocked.
If anything. we are dumb for paying too much. We definitely aren't tight-wads like Rutgers
I mean I’m not as invested as some of the other folks in this thread but sure I like to see them do well. Especially when the local pro teams are as poor as they have been.
This is kinda what I was trying to explain earlier. People are done
He hosts The Opening Drive on NFL Radio on Sirius every weekday with Bob Papa. He's actually pretty good.
Chad Morris is a available and can start immediately. He also has a QB in his back pocket
Oh god. It’s looking like Addazio or Moorehead
Not dead yet!!
Bring Gary home!
In full force a whopping 900 people raised 250k, a whopping 1% of the amount of money needed to sign a 5 year 4.5 million /year contract!
does the AD resign now, too?
Lmao I think you owe me an apology
Congrats to our #Rutgers Scarlet Knights posters!
really good hire for them, obviously. probably not gonna recapture the magic of his first stint, but they desperately need someone who can at least restore a modicum of respectability to the program.
we just needed an adult
Six to midnight
Now get to cruiting
One would now have to imagine that Rutgers AD Pat Hobbs is toast.
There's no way that these two can coexist after A) Hobbs took Schiano's demands public in an effort to make him look like he was greedy and B) the fans/donors saw through it and rallied to Schiano.
Typical NJ shitshow, but good on Rutgers for getting him back.
That “promise” to look into building a football- only facility seems awfully non-committal.
Hey coach, we looked into that facility and it turns out they are really expensive. Sorry!
They could have had a bat bitch lol
Schiano Back to Back to Rutgers
Looking into it is the worst kept secret about actually not looking into it and do nothing. This sentence is one of the last one I can rely on to not do what my gf asks me to do. Let’s not ruin it by making it notorious.
It seems like everyone gets a turn eventually, how long you stay there is the question. During the Brewster era a lot of people turned off the Gophers for what seemed like for good. 55 years of sub par football
