Depends on who you talk to
Yeah I don’t think you will find any Knight fan that didn’t expect Frost to leave for Nebraska at some point. We knew that eventually someone was going to back the money truck up to him and UCF wasn’t going to be able to compete financially with it. None of us fault him for going back to his almamater, we fault the Nebraska admin and fanbase for their shitty attitude and process. Things like having secret negotiations while on a road trip, coming to our games with signs about him leaving, husk media coming to our pressers asking about what players he was going to bring with him, announcing the hire during our conference championship game, claiming our Peach bowl win as a husker win, publishing a Frost origin story comic book series that made it look like we were so happy he got to leave to coach at a “real” program. So no offense to the Husks on here that are generally fine, but fuck the rest of them. Damn right I enjoy seeing them drown in the ocean of their unrealistic expectations.
We’ve won 12 games in the last 3 years and people still pack the stadium. What sort of expecatations should we have? We all know it’s not the 90s anymore. Honesty Pelini level results would be good at this point if it were Frost and not Pelini. Nobody expects national titles.
It wasn’t great at all, but now we’re at the point where the same stuff keeps happening on the field, the already suspect AC hires appear to be in over their heads, and recruiting seems to be pretty meh as well.
I liked Riley, and supported him for as long as possible (especially since he wasn’t Bo), but that experiment turned into a straight up disaster so no doubt it should have ended when it did.
Yeah that isn’t too hard to puzzle out
There’s one salty ucf fan, let’s pump the brakes.
Why would we be salty? We have lost 3 games in the Huepel era and 2 were by like 2 points because our stud freshman qb acted like a freshman.
The most concerning thing for Nebraska fans should have been when he brought his entire group of 5 staff to Nebraska. Pretty much all the coaches that do that fail hard. Brady hoke did it, then wouldn’t fire his buddies. Then after hoke got fired all the assistants ended up at places like CSU-Pueblo and Indiana state.
shows a resistance to new ideas and a desire to remain in one's comfort zone, where you're less likely to grow. G5 to B1G is like night and day. Frost probably fed from breast till he was 4 or 5
Knowing what I know about Carol this explains a lot
He couldn't decide what to name his kid for like 2 weeks. Thats after having like 7-8 months of knowing one is coming to figure it out.
“Untitled Coach Scott Frost Project”
I've been pretty consistent with this. Why would I be salty anyways?
Our defense was garbage despite having NFL talents on it and we told everyone the D coordinator was not good. People took that us being salty. We literally had a generational QB that refused to lose carry us to wins while the defense got routinely shredded.
Lol that'll really help on the recruiting trail
It's all about stocking the cupboard.
He needs a new staff.
I don't follow Nebraska well enough to know but I thought general consensus when Frost took over is that he would need years of recruiting and developing to get them ready to compete for division.
That’s probably true, I think the issue is, he’s continuously bitched about the previous regime (whom was rightfully fired), and put up the same results. Also while getting out coached consistently.
That’s kinda what we thought until he told everyone about how he turned UCF from winless to undefeated in 2 years and that he would do it here too
When is he gonna get started on the recruiting and developing parts?
It’s hard to recruit the Florida kids he want to Lincoln for some reason, I don’t know why
“It’s hard to recruit kids to Eugene, OR”
“It’s hard to recruit kids to a G5 school”
“It’s hard to recruit kids to Lincoln, NE”
Maybe it’s just hard to recruit when you’re an awkward guy with shitty charisma. Apathy probably doesn’t help either.
Why win 9 games with Bo when you can win 5 games with Scott?
He needs to start cruiting
Thank God we told this guy to fuck off
wasn’t this team preseason top 10?
I believe #25 in one poll
not when that G5 P6 school is in Florida. We are flush with talent in this state. It’s a big reason he came here. It was easy for him to get fast athletic kids to run his system
why do I recall the husks being ranked high and everyone skeptical
unless I’m confusing the team ranking with Martinez as a Heisman candidate
When Tennessee was hiring, Frost was the guy I wanted and was worried Florida would get. Course this was before I knew Frost wanted to take his whole staff with him.
Though, at the time, I remember Florida fans doubting my sincerity when I wasn't at all bothered about Chip Kelly at Florida. Course if Chip went to Florida, Mullen would be at UT and our AD would still be John Currie.
Yeah, Martinez odds were bet up to like 6/1 or something which made him 3rd or 4th best odds. I believe he was around same odds as Hurts. Oops.
Martinez was committed to UT for a long time under Jones, and switched to Nebraska after Pruitt. I remember Nebraska and UT fans fighting about whether Pruitt wanted to keep him, and not caring.
Haven't seen Martinez play since his first games last year. But I was confused as hell when Frost pulled him and wasted 40 seconds of clock for this skinny white guy named McCaffery (who I correctly guess was Ed's boy.) What was that?
Pretty sure Martinez is garbage
He was very good last year and a broken shell of his former self this year
Shit went haywire when we subbed him in, which caused the ref to go stand over the ball to allow an Iowa sub. Postgame Frost said he was fine with the clock running in hopes he didn’t leave any left for Iowa. Again, ooops
I actually want Martinez to be good as possible. Pruitt has as complete different system to Josh Dobbs not finding anyone open, and taking off.
I mean, Fulmer had Tajh Boyd and Bryce Petty committed when he was fired and Kiffin literally told them to fuck off. Brought in no one.
That is quality trolling.
My question is more about why it was an idea to sub him in the first place?
Is he a better passer or something?
Martinez sucks. He fucking sucks. He can’t throw. He can’t run. He can’t check down. He can’t throw. And he can’t throw.
He can coach speak like a mother fucker though.
I like the Nebraska posters on this board, but I can't say I care about whether or not you're ever good at football again.
Though, I will say. The 1997 Orange Bowl, even with Peyton Manning, was the most through ass kicking of a very good UT team I've ever seen.
That I don’t know. Definitely one of those things if you’re going to bring him in just do it, don’t half ass it and do it on a random 3rd down of a game winning drive.
Kind of sums up the whole Frost era so far, just a lot of pussy footing around with decisions that matter.
When it was clear Frost was getting hired I remember looking at his ACs and their resumes. It’s embarrassing.
When I’m bored and depressed tomorrow morning I’ll share some highlights, but iirc one dude was coaching like Arena League and HS pre-UCF. The QB coach was at Northern Iowa for like 20 years and we wonder why Martinez looked better after not playing since his junior year in HS compared to one off season with these clowns.
Celemo 's boy had a good point
