I’m not sure about our current judges, because I haven’t attended the federal bar events here in a while, but when Judges Susan Dlott (D appointee) and Sandra Beckwith (R appointed) we’re chief judges for the Southern District of Ohio, they made it a policy that judges had to pay for their own lunch just to attend the annual federal bar association meeting.
A Dem is Oregon is found to have been doing some side work for a weed company. Forced to resign within a few days bc people on both sides lose their shit. A SC justice is found to have been living a life of luxury for 25 years and the right is all "hey nothing to see here" and we just keep it moving.
Will be curious to see which state straight up says they will not abide by scotus rulings until something is done about the court’s corruption
The foundation of the Supreme Court rests on them being impartial if bias judges of the law. The facade is over. They’re political operatives plane and simple. Jamelle bouie convinced me that we don’t need to appoint lawyers to the Supreme Court as much as we do
We could literally appoint people off the street, any random people and they would no doubt do a better job than the current scotus. The scotus as it currently is doesn’t represent the make up of this country at all and is a group of extremists hell bent on destroying the country
It wasn’t just some side work. She was getting paid 10k a month as a consultant then calling other states using her connections as Secretary of State to contact lieutenant governors of other states to get information on how to get her cannabis company into those states. She would then receive a 30,000 bonus for each state they entered. She also worked 6 hour work days regularly being done by 2 pm.
I love playing the game of “how much more corrupt can this get??” And always losing when I answer “none. None more corrupt”
I didn't say she shouldn't have been forced to resign. But compared to Thomas, her infractions were minor. The fact that Dems rightfully call out their own while the right flat out ignores it on their side is the point. Dem infractions get bi-partisan calls for action while chud infractions only get calls from the left so nothing happens.
the full statement is actually worse than just that snippet. He admits that Thomas actually reached to Crow for help
I feel pretty confident that all that money is just wasted too. Thomas sucks so much he was probably voting that way anyhow so this is just a bonus for him.
pretty sure that boarding school lost its accreditation and was shutdown Ginny shouldve just homeschooled him
him and Alito are true believers. I don’t think he would have voted any differently than he has. and in no way does that excuse what’s happened.
Nice to hear that Republicans believe any child without a spare $150,000 lying around and therefore having to attend a public school is “a child in need.”
The blue checkmark really has become the scarlet letter for assholes, it’s amazing what Elon has done to that platform. This statement is just perfectly laying out how CT covered everything up to dance around the laws. Assumed parenting role of a child but didn’t adopt him because then all gifts to their dependent would be reportable. Didn’t speak publicly about their generosity because they weren’t being generous, Crow was, and they didn’t want to draw attention to that obvious red flag. Crows payments went directly to the school so CT didn’t have to disclose the gift. Maybe he didn’t break any laws, but it’s very clearly corrupt. And to say Harlan Crow didn’t have any business before the court is a pretty obvious stretch, if not a flat lie.
Sorry guys, checkmate. Getting paid for books you wrote and that income being reported is the exact same as paying a relative's private school tuition.
It's always funny doing the whatabout because most people on the left are like yeah fuck em idgaf. But that's impossible for rwnj to understand because they're conditioned to defend their own at all costs.
I’m not going to bother reading this nonsensical spin but public school wasn’t an option for this kid?
I bet the grandnephew who lived with Thomas and his wife since he was 6 feels really good about Clarence letting everyone know this was NOT his son so it's all OK
If I'm in a position of power in which it is vital that my ethical makeup is beyond reproach, I'm not letting a friend buy me a fucking can of soda.
yeah, hows come none of my so called friends ever paid my relatives' tuition to elite schools or paid my parents' mortgage off for me? no good sack of shit friends. better off without them iyam
