Primarily in the context of the census, and therefore representation in the House of Representatives. There was no real organized abolitionist movement in the U.S. until the late 1820s. Prior to that, it was basically just quakers and evangelicals.
We’ve treated the Supreme Court like they’re some great council of wise people above us all and above the political machine for far too long. And they’ve projected themselves as such. They’re people just like the rest of us and always have been. The sooner we recognize that and stop treating them like infallible sacred cows the better.
I generally agree with your point, but the court has gotten remarkably worse/more partisan in the last thirty years. And that has been by careful design.
It's all up for grabs. This one fucking body of deviant fucktards is about to change the entire country for the worse.
GOP is looking to blow Pennsylvania. They're very close to putting up the extremist/insurrectionist ticket for GOP/Senate in Mastriano and Barnette.
That's the hope with this right wing movent that absolutely insane people win primaries but hopefully can't win a general
GOP has cost itself numerous Senate seats from this in past: Akin in Missouri, Mourdock in Indiana, O'Donnell in Delaware. They're pretty good at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. GOP primary voters are unbelievable depraved lunatics.
What used to be a bit of a backstop now results in people in Congress who have harassed sandy hook parents
That's it. GOP voters are extremists, but there's still a portion of floating voters who are only willing to vote for the extremist party if the candidate is packaged properly.
It’s just a bunch of dumb people that don’t understand how anything works and no longer feel like they should defer to experts on anything. That’s the GOP. Not just their voters, it’s the people they put on the Supreme Court too. That’s their party.
I'm a new clown, and you've not been wrong in succinctly pointing out my posting flaws. I've a huge respect for your pointed and reserved shares of legal, and general, perspective. I would love to know if you have a legal podcast rec, beyond maybe suggesting someday you'd endeavor
Back off, I'm taken. Whatever, man. Trying to send my respects. He thinks I'm a dolt. So do you. Have fun
Sure, but again, this isn’t 2022 Missouri. Pennsylvania may be trending more red, but it’s not even close to a GOP state.
My wife is 16 weeks pregnant and we just found out that her body is producing antibodies that could could result in the baby becoming toxic to her. I don’t even want to think about what will happen if it does. And then this is looming over our heads and who knows what it will be like in Arkansas. It’s gut wrenching.
ow fuck man, my wife and I are on nearly the exact same schedule and If wed get that news now Im not sure how we could even deal with it. Hope things will work out well
Am I understanding this correctly? If your attorney does not present all evidence in your defense in state court you now can’t claim your 6th amendment rights were violated?
