While it is, and also how I understood it, the diff Cornyn is missing is that Dobbs removed rights, while other overturned cases granted rights.
I feel this way too. I used to be “pro choice” now I’m pro abortion. If a woman wants to use it as a method of birth control she should be a able to whenever she wants and however many times she wants. I know (from being told) getting an abortion is a painful difficult decision so if a woman wants one it’s no body else’s business.
I guess I really don't know what their end game is with restricting abortion, but I feel like whatever it is the outcome is going to be the exact opposite of what they want
One comment of “The Dems will overplay their hand like they always do” rings hollow because it’s always underplayed
Feel like the endgame is the feeling of winning a game, whether it ends up being a dog catching a car situation or not
It’s true if you assume 48 current senators are ready to get rid of the filibuster for it, which I guess to your point is probably not actually true
Depends. If stories of women dying or something re incest goes mainstream weeks before an election, it will matter
if the Dems got two pickups(with no losses obviously) in say Fetterman and Barnes in Wisconsin you'd have 50 senators for codifying Roe and nuking the filibuster
And there you go. I been beating the fuck the democrats drum as long as anyone on this board. It warms. My cold heart to see so many joining me.
I’d have to look and that’s why I deferred to Lyrtch so I am not attempting to say I know for a certainty. I just always assume the worst when it comes to the democrats and them keeping shit the way it is. I obviously hope I’m wrong and he is correct.
So Manchin is no on both and Simena is no on filibuster? It's insane 2 people can hold so much power. I wish some things could just be put to a national vote.
Plot twist they won’t even try to do shit until at least November to gather votes and then even if they get the votes they still won’t do shit
he was ok with a narrower measure than they voted on, but I don't recall the details of the bill because it was doomed
Ahh. I read some bullshit from him yesterday saying he'd be in favor of passing it even though he's pro life so wasn't sure if there was someone else or not
As a Catholic, I was raised pro-life and will always consider myself pro-life. But I have come to accept that my definition of pro-life may not be someone else’s definition of pro-life. I believe that exceptions should be made in instances of rape, incest and when the life of the mother is in jeopardy. But let me be clear, I support legislation that would codify the rights Roe v. Wade previously protected. I am hopeful Democrats and Republicans will come together to put forward a piece of legislation that would do just that.” From manchins website. Guess he changed his stance because he's a moron like Susan Collins
they all change their stance once it comes up to being a deciding vote it's why I do not believe they have 48 senators part until it's actually on the floor with a meaningful vote
She's not really saying that they're optimistic about getting 8-10 Rs to sign off on codifying Roe, is she? I mean, I guess they'll say anything to get the press off their case.
I can’t believe it isn’t obvious but he’s saying that the decision is freedom for the unborn like freedom for blacks. He’s an idiot but he isn’t calling for segregation.
