I mean I get this this specific announcement is mostly performative but going to guess all of these corporations offer maternity leave
What? Of course they offer maternity leave. It’s just cheaper to send (qualifying) employees on a jet set to a blue state to get an abortion than to provide it.
so we shouldn’t applaud their moral character when it’s an economic calculus, and the tweet isn’t inaccurate
I mean christ disney and comcast treat their employees like shit this shouldn’t be treated as anything other than them trying to save money
I’m having a “discussion” on Twitter with a guy who denies that there was an ideological shift between the D’s and R’s thanks to the Civil Rights movement. His proof is that Wallace and Byrd were Democrats ME- why did the Deep South go from voting blue in 1960 to red in 1964 HIM - Wallace and Byrd were still Democrats!
God damn this gave the reply guys ammunition to reply to every single thing known to man too the worst of both worlds
so i know this to be a stupid question but most of the conservatives on the SC answered an edition of the roe vs wade question with something like: "i believe it to be settled law" or something like that. Why cant they be trialed for perjury as they clearly lied under oath
which we know is a lie, but then again, half the things "i like beer" said during his hearing were lies
saying “I believe it to be settled law” is not a commitment not to overturn it in the future. It’s incredibly difficult to sustain any kind of charge about lying when the alleged lie is about future conduct, and impossible when you’re talking about convincing 2/3 of the Senate.
I was thinking a criminal conviction for perjury as it would be way funnier, but yeah, this lying you can jsut get away with sadly enough
You would have to be a moron to believe that lie anyway. Which reminds me - I’m pretty sure Merica believed those lies.
Their response to black people having voting right attacked was to wear kente cloth. Nobody misses a moment quite like rich, white Dems.
Nissan just announced 16 weeks (8 paid, 8 unpaid) for either/both parents for births and adoptions. Wonder if they will do what these other companies are for abortions as well. Not super relevant to this topic but that tweet made me think about that.
I had taken an edible and looked at the photoshopped picture of Nancy with a giant lip disc and the neck rings set over the Saharan sunset and laughed for about an hour.
The ship sailed a long time ago, but you'd think the Ds would at least try to educate people about the magnitude of what's happening. Eat Arby's I guess.
8 unpaid is pretty terrible for the mom. But my employer is one of the best in the US relating to this. 4 weeks for birthing mom paid plus 10 weeks for child bonding for either mom or dad. Feel like progressive companies in the US 4+ paid months is becoming the norm with a lot going to 6 months.
