I think it will actually ruin the series for a lot of people if Jon is dead. He's the great hope for a happy ending, which is what everyone wants ultimately in the end... It would be a tremendous mindfuck and I think an obvious change by Martin to the whole plot if he is truly dead.

It all sets up for his return... We will see what comes of it.

It's hilarious that we got all of 10 minutes of interaction between Jaime and Bronn on their bro intervention to Doene AND no hint of the training that Jaime begins in the fourth book.

I think he's coming back in the books, but at this point I'd be surprised if he returns in the show.

It doesn't ruin the book or show series for me if he doesn't, but it definitely hurts it IMO.

If he's coming back in the books, he's coming back in the show.

I wouldn't put one ounce of credence into what any cast members or showrunners say leading up to next season.

Grantland has a book reader back and forth between Concepcion and Rubin with some really interesting casting call discussions. Rest of it is just same old theory talk.

I don't see how he can come back in one and not the other if he is AA reborn and plays a significant role in fighting the Others.

I could see them giving his role to someone else, or cutting it altogether as they've done with multiple characters/plot lines. Not saying I agree with it, but there's no reason for the actor to say definitively that he's done with the show.

Uh, there is a very simple reason for the cast to keep saying "Yeah he's dead." So people are fooled into thinking he's really dead. Smokescreen for as long as possible until filming for S6 is impossible to hide.

And I have a better chance of hooking up with Missandei than Jon Snow being recast with a different actor, or being killed off in the show when he stays alive (or comes back) in the books.

He would have had to be a very pious septon for years to gather the following sparrows that are so loyal to him. It would have had to have been before the war. Plus in the books cranogmen have all green eyes and that would have definitely been something that would have been mentioned about the High Sparrow.

From a show perspective, Jon is a lot more important to viewers than LSH. Catelyn's arc was complete.

Jon still has his parentage, he's our only eyes to the wall and beyond, and his death/rebirth is the only thing keeping Mel in the show. He's def coming back.

hes definitely coming back. My concern is that he wont be a real boy any longer and be some kind of sentient zombie killing machine character that cant really die or make babies. I guess its pretty gay but its how i feel.

The fact that Beric Dondarrian came back as essentially the same person, minus a few memories, makes me think Snow can/will return in the same fashion.

I think the time it takes from when he dies has a direct correlation on how much of himself he loses. if it's done quickly I think it will be similar to Beric, wait too long and it might be more like Catelyn.

Jon Snow and Mel are going to have a dinner date at the night fort with the Night's King and his down ass white walker bitch and form an unbeatable alliance of Fire and Ice. The Night's King is a distant relation of Jon anyway and he has got mad respect for Jon after he dropped one of his henchmen.

letting Jon through the Wall with all the wildlings just to kill him is asinine. up there with the Boltons neglecting Stannis on the battlefield.

If she had killed Stannis they would have shown it IMO. Knowing Brienne she probably felt bad for him seeing him lying there as a broken man both literally and figuratively. We haven't seen the last of the mannis IMO.

In one of the links someone posted they talk about how they had to show just enough of Ned losing his head in order to convey it to the audience that he is indeed dead. They didn't want to leave it with any doubts. The Hound, Stannis, and Jon are all "dead" but they didn't leave it as a definitive thing and I like to think it's on purpose.

They got lazy as fuck this season and glossed over it with a white walker battle and dragon riding, simple as that. I'll still tune in every Sunday at 9 but this was by far the worst season as far as quality story telling for me. I know it is a tv show that is trying to stuff 80 pounds of shit into a 5 pound sack but the absurd coincidence level skyrocketed along with just flat out awful acting and character choices.

I know a previous poster was slammed for pointing some of that shit out, but they managed to put out a quality product without so many lazy coincidences in every season prior to this. Sure, some of it is unavoidable but at least spread these instances out and combine them with quality acting and believable dialogue. Jamie and Bronn fumbling around in broad daylight in the water gardens while the sand snakes cornily recited the words of their illegitimate father's house was just so amateurish. The ensuing fight and Bronn/fat titties magee story line was only saved by said fat titties. Brienne waiting weeks for the candle only to turn around a second before it was lit was lazy, as was her stumbling upon a wounded Stannis in the woods with no (living) Bolton men to be found. The overhead battle view showed a small force of men on foot being completely encircled by men on horseback in an open field - cut to Stannis by himself in a fucking forest.

I can forgive the Arya/Meryn bit, they needed to cross paths somehow.

Out of all the coincidences why is Arya and Meryn considered one? She spends every day on the docks. I can understand the ones to do with the North being sort of a wtf.

Yeah that is why I can actually find that one in the realm of possibility. How else would they have introduced those two? We all knew he was going to get murked the second Cersei sent him to Braavos with that buffoon.

The Dorne scenes were bad, I agree, but I'm just glad they cornballed those scenes instead of the Greyjoy story line. Had they elected to focus on that instead, I could totally see some horrific Pirates of the Caribbean-type shit for the Victarion scenes. Would have been a shame.

If done correctly the Greyjoy storyline holds some good potential IMO, I just don't trust them to do it correctly after Dorne. I know there are whispers of the Greyjoys being cast for next season but the same thing happened this time last year with Mads Mikkelsen being photoshopped into Euron Greyjoy (how awesome would that have been though?).

They've likely advanced the Dany storyline too quickly (which is an improvement on the books, to be fair) and ignored the Ironborn for too long to bring that back into the fold now.

having a crannogman turn to the Seven would be phenomenally bad writing. they're intensely connected to the old gods and his own son had the freaking greensight. it'd be like watching your kid turn water into wine or raise the dead then taking up Buddhism. they're small, green-eyed people because they bred with the CotF, they're as attuned to that way of life as any people.

I don't think it's crazy that he's just hiding in the swamp or biding his time. he sent Jojen and Meera when the time was right and if he's the one who reveals R+L=J then he'll also know when to do that and I highly doubt it'll be when he washing a pauper's foot and just casually saying "hey, there's a Targ/Stark kid running around".

I know the High Sparrow is short, but Howland has green eye balls. I'm sure someone would have commented on it. Cersei would have referred to him as a damn bog devil frog eater at some point.
