No. Daynes look like Targs. I forgot what book it's in but there are 3 different types of Dorninsh people and the Daynes are the type that look Valaryian.
I don't think they can do a prequel season. Just the sheer size of this cast, and the amount of money they'd spend paying the new and old cast for a year would be absurd. Any prequel season would have to be done simultaneously to the main series IMO
Because it reminds me that the chances of him ever finishing the series get lower every year. He's 66 and has been working on TWoW for 5 years now.
Old cast? Seeing how there would be a 15 year age gap, they would have to completely recast everyone.
Good casting but pretty dumb to cast a guy for two minutes of screen time just to change him two seasons later. Just bad foresight
could have been that von sydow was unavailable for just one ep or the parties decided that he could come on later for a full series
Not to mention less money and less getting someone of his caliber involved for two minutes of screen time a couple years before you need him.
they re-cast constantly. off the top of my head there's Beric, the Mountain(twice), Tommen, Myrcella, Daario, and Rickard Karstark. some of those were re-cast because they had to be so the stuff with Tommen and Myrcella didn't get ultra-creepy but others were just mainly placeholders probably done because the character had to be introduced but they hadn't yet sat down and decided enough about it to know how to cast it. obviously arguments to be made about whether they made the right choice with stuff like Daario and the Mountain but their casting is more or less top notch so I'm fine with this. I honestly didn't like looking at old Daario and the current Mountain is the largest human being I've ever seen. Mountain #2 was some thin rail of a man but I was OK with Mountain #1 because his angry face was damn fitting to that character. I can see why they finally settled on the huge Nordic guy once it came time for Mountain vs Viper and going forward with Robert Strong since now it doesn't matter who makes a better angry face and the more pants-shittingly huge you can make Robert Strong the more terrifying he'll be. he's seriously looks like he's going to rip that septa's skin off like Pyramid Head next season, it's going to be brutal.
seriously people are complaining that they just added MAX FUCKING VON SYDOW???? that is like adding a 5 star recruit and being pissed that the two star guy got told to find a new home
I'm just glad they are redoing the character. I always pictured him as like inside the tree and shit. The other guy just looked like he was caught in a hammock
Recasts for the Mountain were done bc of conflicts in the actors schedules. The 1st mountain left to be the bad guy in the Hobbit movies, which were later changes to cgi. I think the current mountain is perfect. Daario was recast bc the actor left to go be in the a new Transporter movie
Walter Frey coming back http://watchersonthewall.com/david-bradley-confirms-walder-frey-will-return-to-game-of-thrones/
I haven't kept up itt so SAIP but... are we getting some Tower of Joy / Robert's Rebellion flashbacks?? WiCnet English actor Sebastian Croft has been cast as a young Ned Stark for #GameofThrones Season 6! http://t.co/DkMh16kVsh http://t.co/Fg9BVu6kcM 8/9/15, 2:31 PM
There has been a lot of smoke that it's happening. A filming location for next season looks like the Tower of Joy is described, and a casting call went out for someone who pretty much has to be Arthur Dayne.
Yeah, it was only 20 or so years ago for TOJ. They'll probably just use Sean Bean again. I'm interested to see who they cast as Rhaegar.
I almost feel bad for GRRM that his big reveal is going to happen in the show before the books, but it's his fault.
I'm obviously just guessing as well, but I don't think they'd show the TOJ without showing some Rhaegar/Lyanna backstory. If anything, just to show Jon is a legitimate Targ and not a bastard. Or maybe I'm just hoping.
In a perfect world, s06 is a flashback season to Roberts Rebellion & Blackfyre Rebellion. Sets up the storylines for the rest of the show, gets GRRM to publish and s07 picks up @ WoW Boom. Problems solved. Spoiler I'm sure I'm not the first to think of that. But as I said, I just jumped into this thread.
No casting calls have gone out for any characters at this point. Hell, they haven't even casted Connington/fAegon, so safe to say they don't have that much time to do these flashbacks.
I was thinking they have to do something on Myr to tie in w Dany. Sets up the Golden Company. They skipped over them in the show, but could introduce later. My original post was just a wishful show hypothetical that isnt going to happen anyway.
are casting calls always that detailed? I almost feel like that's too on the nose and we're being trolled.
weren't they casting someone who sounded like septon meribald? seems like using the hound to establish meribald would be a good move.
Next up: Priest, in his 40’s or 50’s. A gruff ex-soldier who found religion. Now a no-nonsense rural priest who ministers to the poor of the countryside. He’s salt-of-the-earth man who has weathered many battles. Sounds like Septon Meribald, although it’s a little surprising we’d see him next year instead of this year. If it is him, that hints at someone surviving the season. http://watchersonthewall.com/game-of-thrones-season-6-casting-has-begun-and-heres-the-list/
Why do you need anyone else? Everyone knows the hound. He becomes the viewers link to meribald and we see how he changes or whatever from the relationship with the septon. Edit: to elaborate a bit more. The book needed brienne or some other established pov character to introduce the septon and hint that the hound is still alive because it is told through pov. The show doesn't. Now you don't want to just introduce someone totally isolated from established characters, but the hound is established and can introduce meribald. The fact that the hound isn't a pov character doesn't matter. Show watchers are very familiar with him. And because we actually see people on TV, you can't really hide that the really strong gravedigger is actually the hound. Plus, I doubt that an island of silence would work well on TV, so you let meribald sort of take on that role. Let him make the hound the devout, non angry dude or whatever he becomes as the gravedigger. The hound becomes the champion of the faith, and we get hype cleganebowl!
