He named Lyanna the something something queen of beauty or something like that when he won a tournament and gave her a blue rose. He was married at the time as well and he still didn't give a shit. They eloped. The kidnapped part started with Robert because he felt there's no way she would run off with someone and choose them over him. Even though Rhagar has been described many times as pretty much the best looking piece of man meat in Westeros. I rewarched and I swear she said something then "Targaryan".
Where you are born. "Waters" is for riverland. "Snow" is the North, "Sands" is for Dorne. Can't remember any others off the top of my head.
It's based off where the mother is from. See: Great bastards of Aegon IV. Bloodraven (Brynden Rivers) mother was from the Riverlands (House Blackwood). Daemon Blackfyre (born Waters) mother was from Tyrosh. Both born in Kings Landing http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Aegon_IV_Targaryen
I'm not quite sure what he's talking about. No one knows who his mother is, let alone that she is of the North.

Also, it makes sense now why Ned told Jon they'd talk about his mother the next time they saw each other. By then Jon would be a sworn brother of the Night's Watch so Ned could tell him the truth and lift the burden of the secret because he'd be protected in the Night's Watch and a non-threat because of his vows.
I believe you guys n all, but: http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Bastardy So which site is more universally accepted?
Wrong yeh canadian bastard Bastard surnames are dependent on the region a child was born in, i.e. where the mother is from, not where the father is from. For example, a noble lord from the Stormlands could father one bastard child in the Vale, and another in the Riverlands, but neither would use the surname "Storm": the first bastard would use the surname "Stone", and the second would use the surname "Rivers."
i'm assuming you're reading the books. see, i didn't and just jumped into the thread middle of last season. i can't imagine watching this show in the dark, so to speak, at this point.
Yeah it wouldn't have mattered with Jon because Ned never said who the supposed mother was or where he was born or where she was from or anything. He basically told everyone to fuck off and just called him Snow and everyone said "ok" and fucked off. Even his cunty wife.
No, I'm barely going to start. But I had friends fill in the gaps or give additional details as I got caught up to season 4, then again with 5. So I'll be reading some decent knowledge of things already.
Clearly the Jon situation is not the norm. My only thought from earlier ITT was what could possibly happen (as far as the Northern houses is concerned) when he's outed as a Stark/Targ. Then when Dany comes around to find out there's another Targ.
It's not going to matter much by that point. He's their leader regardless of whether or not he's a Targ. The point remains he's the only one who can lead them against the white walkers and whether or not he's the Lord of Winterdell or King of the North, it won't matter because he's their leader regardless. He'd gladly let Sansa be the Stark in Winterfell so long as he has command of the forces. He's not playing anymore games about that shit. Jon isn't the same Jon as before he died. He lost a part of himself. Beric talks about it in the scene where he is brought back. There's nothing else but the war against the WW. That's all it is now.
No one, meaning no one in Westeros (except Howland Reed and now Bran). He's Jon Snow because he was raised in the North, not because Lyanna Stark is his mother. If it strictly went by the mother's heritage, it would not make sense for Ned to have him go by Jon Snow because it was commonly accepted that he fathered the bastard from a southern girl.
Predictions Bran marries Meera Reed Jon marries Dany Sansa dies by littlefinger's hand Jaime strangles Cersei and will marry Brienne of Tarth by shows end Dany's 3 dragons burn the white walkers away (death by fire is the purest death) Bronn marries Tyene Sand because he needs the bad pussy (they make warrior bastard babies) Arya - i have no idea
He's Jon Snow because Ned named him that and that's all their was to it. Ned didn't talk about shit to begin with so he said "His name is Jon Snow" and that was that. It's not like it's up for negotiation or anything. He could have named him Jon Pink Flamingo and no one could say anything about it because he's a Lord. Robert was the king and couldn't even get him to talk about it and knew to just let it go because it's Ned.
You're missing my point. Jon needed to be a bastard that Ned sired during the war (in the south) because he would've been killed if his true lineage were known.
While no one knows his true parentage everyone knows Ned brought him home from the war, making it common knowledge he wasn't born in the North. Obviously no one objects to him going by Snow. But the "his name is (whispers)" bit confirms to me that he is a true born. Why purposely hide it from us if all Lyanna says is 'his name is Jon please don't let anyone hurt him'? The missing parts that Ned/Bran heard and that I assume will be revealed later are his actual name/title (_____ Targaryan, _____of his name, ect). The way Ned treated Robert during season one was always odd for how great of friends they were supposed to be even given Ned's stoicness. Makes sense for that if Ned's withheld that kind of secret from him all those years because he promised his sister to never tell 'him'. Also as mentioned it makes much more sense for three of the best swords in westeros to be hundreds of miles away from the war protecting the next in line to the throne rather than simply the prince's lover, especially since you would think if they'd be guarding anyone, it'd have been Elia Martell and her children.
He said it's Snow and refused to talk about it so if he says its Snow then it's just assumed the mother was from the North. Why can't a Northern girl be in the south and get knocked up and have a bastard? Kid would be a Snow. I just meant he doesn't have to explain shit and didn't because it's just a bastard. If he really is a bastard and her and Rhaegar weren't married then he is still a Snow.
Lyanna was at the Tower of Joy with Rhaegar Targaryian and died giving birth to a kid. That's been well established that he was the one with her there whether by choice or by force he was with her there and she had a baby, so with the cut scene to Jon he's either Rhaegar's or one of the Kingsguard that was there.
It's been mentioned multiple times on the show that Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna. At least everyone in Westeros assumes she was kidnapped. There's the theory that they were in love and she ran away with him.
It's been on the show a bunch. Little finger talks about them with Sansa in the crypts either this season or last when they're in front of Lyanna's crypt.
So Bran can see the future? This Artiicle mentions some references that I didn't catch whilst watching inebriated. Watching agin now. http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood...backs-season-6-episode-10-the-winds-of-winter
Robert also has a line to the effect of "the history of a war is written by the victors" when swapping battle stories with Ser Baristan and Jamie.
It's a long time till the start of the next season some you need to go back and watch from the beginning. Even in the first episode Ned and Robert briefly talk about it in the crypt.
