The Lannister army wasn't destroyed, just the tail end right? Now she still has Euron's fleet and the Gold Company.
The Lannister army has been fighting wars and losing battles for years. Half of whatever is left of it just got roasted by a dragon. The Gold Company isn't in Westeros and the Ironborn fleet won't do any good when the battle is on land. Arrayed against Cersei is... the North, The Vale, Dorne, and the Riverlands (who knows what's going on with the Stormlands and the Reach, but they definitely aren't her allies). Plus the Unsullied. Plus the Dothraki. Plus the dragons. Dany could have taken King's Landing episodes ago if she wanted to and suffered minimal losses while doing it.
We got close enough with him then Brienne confirmed it we really got nothing hinting that Tormund or Beric is dead
Gendry ran from the frozen pond to Eastwatch in half a day. It took the Night King and his army weeks to cover the same distance. This shit is so fucking stupid.
1. It's Cersei. As was said about Baelish, He'd (she'd) burn the whole realm down if she could be queen of the ashes. She's never going to be logical or compromise on anything when it comes to her rule. That's completely in character for her. 2. Dany and Jon need anything they can get and even if they have everything they still don't know if they're going to win. They can't just be like "Well we don't need them and can just ignore them while we deal with this." Come on dude. You're complaining just to complain at this point.
Also were pulling the dragon out. And also were potentially waiting for the rest of the army to get there.
who ever said the NK was on a crash course to get to the wall asap? maybe they were gathering up there?
as an outsider, it seems like a chekhov's gun thing. the existence of dragons + a villain that builds his army by reanimating dead things = undead dragon
I don't know what your point is. You responded to a post laying out exactly how Cersei has a small army and no leverage. The fact that she is illogical and unwilling to compromise is irrelevant. If she was logical she'd still have no army and no leverage. Dany and Jon basically already have everything they can get. Cersei has nothing to offer them. Unless the writers are going to say that the Lannister army has been able to magically replenish itself and replace the tens of thousands of soldiers they've lost in battle over the course of the show. And that would just be more shitty writing that glosses over glaring logical inconsistencies.
They showed what looked like tens of thousands of Lannisters march into Highgarden for the rout a couple episodes ago. The dragon didn't take out half of the army, it was only the rear end supposedly.
1. Yes she does and yes she does. You previously thought she had no army and just weren't paying attention. 2. No it's not. She knows the army of the dead is real and is hoping it and Jon/Dany's armies will just kill each other and then everything will work out. Jaime even explained to her that whoever wins is going to come for them next and she didn't care. 3. Yes she does. The rest of her army, Euron's fleet, and money to buy mercenaries. Soldiers are soldiers at this point and Jon/Dany are desperate. They need anything they can get. Everything makes sense in that. Jon and Dany don't care that she doesn't have her full army anymore. She still has soldiers, Jon/Dany need anything they can get, and they need to not be fighting 2 forces, however small/less powerful the other one is.
What are you not understanding about the fact that Jon and Dany are not in position to "not" try to get every soldier they can find and "not" try to make sure they aren't fighting more enemies than they already are?
I said Cersei has no leverage because her army is small. You respond with "yeah well she's illogical and won't compromise." I said her personality is completely irrelevant and has no impact on how big her army is. You respond with "she's just hoping the white walkers and Jon/Dany kill each other off." I then said that it's still irrelevant when talking about the size of her army. Cersei does not have much of an army. Neither her mindset nor Jon and Dany's needs have any impact at all on the size of the Lannister army.
You claimed she has no leverage because (false) she has no army. You listed off all the people that are against Cersei as a way to support the fact that she has no leverage because she'd get beat. I then said that she is illogical and will not compromise, so the fact that she is fighting a losing battle doesn't matter to her. She's still going to fight to the death for the right to rule and ensure the future of their house because she'd rather die than be anything less than the queen of westeros. That is why it is relevant. If the US was fighting Mexico separately in addition to the Axis powers during WW2 and the Axis powers were going to try to conquer them both, would it make sense for the US to not try to form a truce with Mexico? Fuck no. She has leverage because Jon and Dany need more soldiers. She has more soldiers and money to hire other soldiers. She also has leverage because Jon and Dany want to not be fighting the lannisters while fighting the army of the dead. fin
What do you think that snow falling on Jaime signifies? I think it harkens back to Stark motto "Winter is coming." Well, guess what Jamie? Winter is fucking here!!!!!
Jon Snow is a literal retard. He saw the Night King less than a day's walk from the Wall and decided to go to Kings Landing. All he's been talking about the entire series is the battle against the dead, did he think the Night King was going to wait for him to return to attack the Wall?
Nah man, he could have just whistled for his army to come fight against a 6 digit undead force led by a dude that just sniped a dragon with an ice spear while trying to pretend another army to the south of him that's also trying to kill his doesn't exist
Probably should have been manning it with his army in the North and the Wildlings while Dany's army marches north. It doesn't really make sense to sail south when you know the enemy is so close to the Wall. The writers needed a dragon to bring down the Wall and they created possibly the dumbest storyline ever (capturing a wight to bring to King's Landing) to make it happen.
He did send a portion of it to man the wall. It would have been completely stupid to spread out his entire army along the wall. Kind of a France in WW2 situation when the Germans broke through they were fucked. and he had to sail south to secure allies
His army would get run over and they'd all be dead by the time Dany's army got there, meaning he would just be adding thousands more wights to the undead army while theirs gets smaller. The only way they have a chance of winning is if they have everyone there to fight. I doubt they have the dragonglass weapons with them in the north either. The show isn't perfect but I swear some of you avoid thinking just so you can call "shitty writing."
Why hasn't his army been ready? He's been preaching about this fight for years. The Lannisters aren't marching north to kill him anytime soon, especially when winter is coming. The whole motivation to get Cersei's help in the war is a contrived storyline that's just come up this season even though they've been worried about the Great War for the majority of the series.
honestly I can deal with all those issues, I just can't stand Theon. Everything he touches is awful, ruins every scene, just so unimportant and no one will care if/when he ever gets redemption because he's so unlikable in every way.
Truth. Everything else is just so much bigger than him that his whole situation seems so insignificant to even get air time. Wonder if he just plays some important role in the endgame so they have to show these scenes/get him somewhere.
Seems like he's going to lose a shit ton of his army now that the Walkers have breached the Wall and he's just now leaving King's Landing. I swear some of you take it personally when people criticize your favorite show. Isn't the point of a thread like this to critique the show or are we just supposed to tell each other how awesome it is and awesome we are for watching it?
What the fuck are they doing when he's marching from Winterfell to Eastwatch sailing down to Dragonstone and back to Eastwatch?
Or he could tell his army to march south if the walkers beat Dany's to winterfell? We have no idea where he is on the trip to the north at the time the wall goes down and winterfell is still pretty far from the wall. But I guess it would make more sense to march his army with no way to kill the wights/walkers to their death instead. Maybe they could light a bunch of sticks on fire and try to play tag?
Training I guess he had the wildings man the wall if he sent the rest of his army to do the same they would have been too spread out to be effective Id say hold the main force back so you can send them to where the eventual breach happens
