I know we aren’t allowed to talk about stupid writing in here but ima mad af if anyone important dies in the crypts. It’s just so fucking beyond stupid at this point
the more I think about it, there's no way they Night King doesn't survive next week somehow. they can't kill him this early.
Um, he's still around technically. End of last season Sandor even stands face to face with him and tells him something to the effect of "You know who kills you."
He’s a mindless zombie under the control of Qyburn/Cersei. The guy that shoved the Hound’s face into a fire as a kid isn’t there anymore.
Didn't Melisandre go back to Volantis to bring The Fiery Hand (Rhollor guard) back to Westeros to battle against the Night King (Great Other) ?
Any of you guys that have played the Witcher 3 the scene where they were all drinking and brienne getting knighted was incredibly similar to the drinking before the fight against the wild hunt at kaer morhen
As stated below: I don't think the pauses were just the writers trying to inappropriately inject tension. Jon is probably torn at this point. He's never wanted anything, because he's never been entitled to anything. But that's all changed now. And while I could still see him saying that Dany should be the one to rule, his honorable nature (he's more like Ned than any of his natural born children) has to make him question his responsibility to his birthright.
To Dany's point about only Bran and Sam knowing the truth about Jon's lineage, where the fuck is Howland Reed? I mean, if he doesn't show up at some point to validate what's been said then what was the point of even introducing Meera and Jojen as characters?
The writers have said since the show aired his silence is shock because Dany cares about the throne more than the fact she's in love with her nephew, which makes sense I suppose. While Dany actually doesn't care about it at all because it's common practice among Targs. Still a very dumbass Stark move to tell her the night before a battle where he needs her full support to have a chance of even putting up a fight.
This goes back and is supported by the convo Dany had (w Tyrion?) after she told Daario Naharis that she had no use for him. Fuck men if they get in her way
How would you have written it to get the army of the dead past the wall? We already had 100K wildlings vs. Castle Black... did you want that to get rewashed or did you have another means to get an army south of it??? There were really two fucking options: Skeletons playing cliff hanger or _____ making the wall come down. Having a converted Ice Dragon (which they may do something badass with, or obviously could meh it up) take down the wall was better than whatever bullshit anyone else could come up with to "get the ball rolling" And everyone ITT knows damn well the Jon/Dany dragon ride was made for long time fans who have been asking for that exact scene since I've been reading GoT shit on the internet. If you didn't expect that at some point I don't know what to tell you. I agree with the first sentence, but the bolded is fucking retarded. I'm guessing you'll claim you never said anything last season about things being rushed, traveling time being stupid fast, etc etc right? Fuzzy's original comment was ridiculous but these two responses make me actually agree with him. apologies I'm catching up on bc I've been unconscious since episode 1's dinner
First of all remove thyself from my penis second of all if you agree with the first sentence then the bolded shouldn’t be so confusing
Also lank you’re entire post up there is retarded. I don’t have to like your fan service dragon rides
last season rolled the ball. so fast at times people complained that the story advanced too quickly / trying to get to the final season's starting point in too few episodes.
The dragon ride looked cheap and had really meh green-screening TBH. I didn't like it. But anyone acting disappointed that the scene happened... that'd make me doubt you've watched the damn show. fan service happens in every show and that's probably the #1 scene people have asked for over the shows course. Most people probably hoping to also see them ride the dragons together while dracarys'n white walkers...that's a fact. And it would be 10000x worse if they tried to pull THAT scene without showing this one first. The bitching about "Jon's first dragon ride he hops on and rides into flame thrower mode battle" would be unbelievable
I don't think it was a joke. She was pissed off that Sansa was being ungrateful and unaccepting to her, the queen, and halfway talking down at the fact that she brought dragons (who she sees as kids) who are pretty much the only hope they've got. the show doesn't have a bunch of snarky one liners, that's the new star wars movies. The only back and forths you could describe that way are between tyrion and varys/davos and those conversations are great
if you don't give a shit about Arya altogether, then no. I'm okay with them spending 6 minutes total in 2 episodes reuniting with an old friend and showing us that she's not completely void of human emotion and still a "kid" even though she trained to become an assassin.
caught up. feels good arguing for no reason over a TV show. Lots of people gonna die next week + Dany and Co win the battle, probably some cheese-ish things happen like the Theon bodyguard Bran-Bait works One episode of people recouping south (greyjoys and whoever else is still alive join up with Dany) + Cersei and Gold Co getting lubed up 2nd Major battle in Ep5 Finale wraps up the story with aftermath of who's left / final ____ human ruler destroys _____ human ruler + Cleganebowl Long Live King Hotpie Has Gilly missed a meal since she left Castle Black or is she pregnant again? "The big woman still here" "I'm no king but if I was I'd knight you ten times over" also "lord of light gonna wonder why he brought you back 19 times just to watch you die when i chuck you over this fucking wall"
They are def gonna lose badly on Sunday Dead will have them pinned against wall until Jon kills NK I think the final battle is at Kings Landing and is a three way
Does Hodor have Waze app in the books? Bran buy a Warg Rosetta Stone? Three Eyed raven make a winterfell house call to pass the torch? Asking what’s the point of introducing the reed kids is like asking what’s the point of introducing Jaqen H’ghar
Posted this in the show thread when I probably should have posted it here. So I had it in my head that there were tunnels under Winterfell that they could use to escape from the crypts once shit goes sideways next episode. I thought they were mentioned in the Bran chapters where he talked about sneaking around Winterfell in the first couple books. Am I inventing this out of whole cloth? I just assumed that's how the survivors get away after the battle next week...
Was my original thinking when I saw this battle was so early in the season. The talk around the budget etc for this battle + the two episode build up makes me think the army of the dead goes down with the NK this week. Which killing the NK would more or less make all his white walkers which would kill all the wights they turned. The frozen rock pow wow of Jorah/Jon/Berric made it seem like when the NK dies the AotD practically dies instantly (probably saving a couple of characters at the last second). Having Dany Army + AotD + GoldCo would be a lot to put into one episode both screen time and $$$ with only 3 eps left and having to spend time building up the winners bracket GoldCo game. Also Danys reaction to Jon’s news seemed like it setup a decent amount of non-fighting drama + end game drama after all fighting is done
And a fighting retreat from the AotD doesn’t seem like an option since they have a deluxe stamina game and no boats like they had at hardhome
I am not sure how I will feel if the entire NK/white walker storyline is wrapped up in one battle on Sunday but I do agree that given how many eps are left it is hard to see any other outcome. I could see something like Jamie dying in the first battle, Cersei coming to her senses and sending her army to help in the final second battle.
I'm leaning towards Tyrion barely surviving the battle only to get murked by Bronn, someone like Brienne or Pod kills Bronn, and then Jamie finds out Cersei hired him and Jamie kills her
Agree, twenty years of building and anticipation only to have them defeated in the first major battle would be so anti-climatic. Them losing badly next week, the survivors joining the fight to help Cersei's army to finally defeat the AofD in Episode 5 would be much more gratifying ending. Then final episode will be the surviving Houses starting the game all over again.
If they defeat the night king this week that would suck. I doubt and really hope that doesn’t happen.
my thing is if they lose, they are going to lose very badly which means Cersei and her army could squash all the survivors with ease. if that's the case then they're going to have to sneak in and assassinate Cersei and Qyburn and seize control of the mercs in order to make their last stand, presumably at King's Landing (we did see that shot in show Dany's visions of the Iron Throne beset by winter).
