Real heroes of the realm are those who flagged that even after the Bran spoilers came out the odds on him were still great.
So the way the handled this problem was so fucking dumb. Drogon was so fucking sad and upset at what Jon did he decided to look past Jon and burn down the iron throne sigh whatever. However Greyworm who was just out in the streets murdering soldiers who had surrendered because they were "free men" who chose to follow Cersei and oppose Dany, however the mother fucker who made a "free man's" choice to kill Dany this mother fucker held hostage for two months until the Lord's of Westeros could come and decide a proper punishment for Jon. They also kept Tyrion alive who made a "free man's" choice to betray Dany and help his siblings and he was rewarded with getting his job back as hand. Smh these dudes were killing anyone insight that played any part in opposing Dany no matter how small, but kept the two people who did the most damage to her alive in jail for months.
I’m so glad this show is over so I can be released from my own personal hell. My last salt filled rant below. Spoiled for length. Spoiler I won’t talk much about Dany for fear of going into an apoplectic fit. Essentially, the show used her for her resources and then discarded her. Isn’t it funny how a show built on morally gray characters ends with Dany turning into a Bond villain while we get uwu Tyrion and the Starks. It’s so obvious that they wanted to keep the Starks and Tyrion’s hands clean from having to do any dirty work in disposing of Cersei. Make Dany into the mad queen so she can be the one who has to compromise her morals and sanity. Got to keep that Stark brand in tact. Don’t want them to have to do something dirty like kill someone in war. They have to be spared so the audience can feel good when they usher in a new world of... exactly the same thing. I also loved that as soon as Dany was a villain they threw in every super villain cliche there is. D&D do realize that they aren't writing Star Wars yet? That Dany isn't General Hux? I know we need perpetual shots of the men around Dany looking concerned, but when did Jon learn Dothraki or Valaryian? Why didn’t Drogon incinerate Jon? Why didn’t the Dothraki and Unsullied go nuts when Dany was killed? I’m sorry D&D, but having Drogon melt the IT loses all of its symbolism when the symbol that it represents is still in place. Literally nothing changes. Bran is still essentially a king. Also, what is the point of Bran? It’s implied that he can see the past, present, and future. So it seems to me that he let all of this happen so he could be king. I’m glad the show could parody itself by having Bronn, Master of Coin, talking about brothels in his last scene. Also glad that Sam, who has about two months worth of training, is Grand Maester. Apparently when it comes to Dany absolute power corrupts absolutely. Except when it comes to Sansa... who now has absolute power in the north. But she’s a STAAAARK. Speaking of an independent north. Why the fuck are the other houses okay with that? Why didn’t they ask for their independence? I’d think Yara might have something to say or fucking DORNE!!! I’m also questioning why everyone just seems to be okay with Bran, Sansa, and the Starks consolidating power for no justifiable reason. Like I said last week. Nothing matters. They also seemed to hamfist a shit ton of “Disney Ending!” (which everyone seemed opposed to for years) and somehow still made it incredibly awful.
I looked at my wife and was like The house who had a own rebellion to become independent and the other house that has been somewhat independent the entire time bending the knee to a cripple while his sister takes their homeland independent. That totally seems plausible.
I wouldn't say directly worse but I would say, based on the depth of the story, 100x more disappointing.
Which makes it worse, IMO. Here's the list of moments we can now enjoy people's reactions to: 1 - Ned dying 2 - Red Wedding 3 - Season 8
Dragons have killed Targaryens before. They aren’t immune to that. There’s no point in trying to decipher it though. Jon wasn’t killed for plot reasons. End of story.
Dragons kill targs all the time. Read a book. Read a book. Read a motherfucking book. My favorite meme of this debacle.
Yeah I know, dance of dragons and all that I'm just trying to explain away the shitty writing this season
The two overwhelming problems I had with the finish were 1. The whole drogon melting the throne was stupid. 2. The biggest reveal in the whole show was Jon being a targ and it plays no role in the story? What?
Now that the season and series are done, I think back to the spoilers I read like 9 months ago that I scoffed at and passed off as ridiculous fanfic. Turns out I would have enjoyed that much more and been much more satisfied than how this all actually ended up.
Ok for some reason I'd compartmentalized three past targ deaths as getting bitten/clawed at or whatever and not simply burned
my biggest disappointment in the episode was that the world isn't actually flat and Arya's ship sails off the edge
I hate that I know exactly which interviews these reactions are from. Even worse, I saw all of them before season 8 and my dumbass still had hope lol
