Really good recap to the episode two on EW: https://ew.com/tv/2019/04/21/game-of-thrones-bryan-cogman-knight-seven-kingdoms-interview/ Some cliffs that stood out: -- “This episode is really a love letter to the characters” -- The episode’s title, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ refers to both Jaime and Brienne. -- One suspects the episode will dramatically feel even stronger when watched in tandem with the next episode of season 8 which chronicles the Battle of Winterfell. “There was such a breakneck pace to season 7 that I was delighted when the [showrunners] proposed an episode of just spending time with characters in this space,” Cogman says. “I think it will make episode 3 — which is spectacular — all the richer. The moment that episode 3 starts we’re in full 100 percent battle mode.”
You can't tell me they're going to wrap up this season when they burned 2 episodes just getting the band back together.
She went to Volantis. Maybe she's going to ride in with a bunch of redheads like the Rohirrim in The Two Towers
I can't get over how happy I was during the fireplace scenes. It was so much like the old Thrones. The dialogue was so REAL, like the way Jaime just gets up and says "fuggit I'll knight you right now, c'mere" It really hit home the "this is the big party on the night before graduation" feel of it.
Dany is 100% lost in the iron throne sauce at this point. I think she saves Jon somehow next week for cinematic effect but after that I think she’s a free agent with how many ever dragons make it out of the battle.
They didn't burn them. In the next four weeks, they're about to kill a bunch of characters who would have been given huge goodbyes if they died in the first 7 seasons. Once the fighting starts, they're not going to have time to give those goodbyes. These two episodes were kind of preemptive goodbyes in that way. Give those characters (and fans) that final moment. These first two episodes will be better if they do their job in the final four episodes.
Looking at it from a writer's perspective I don't see anyway Brienne lives through next week. They basically tied up every loose end with her and gave her a satisfying conclusion. > her vow to Catelyn was called-back > her training of Podrick has paid off > her bitterness over not being a Knight (which she always wanted but could never admit) was resolved > her love for Jaime, while not expressed (it could happen next week) felt thematically closed as he who once mocked her and insulted her constantly was the one to knight her. > the applause of all around her was the perfect ending, considering her sad story about a bunch of Reach Knights saying they would Knight her only to leave her hanging, laughing at her Her book is closed. Jaime still has a few loose ends to tie up, namely Bronn, getting some accomplishments put down in the book of the Great Knights, and of course, Cersei. Brienne feels done for though and because they did such a great job with her this episode, I'm not even mad.
Not bad at all. Would of dug Sam Giving it to Jon and Jon giving Longclaw to Jorah because he’s earned it. When the books never reach that point, Tyrion 100% would devise a plan to win the war from that convo. This. 1000000% this. GRRM has said multiple times he’s promised his wife Arya is the only character he won’t kill.
Jaime's arc ends with him being named the 1000th Commander of the Nights Watch imo just makes too much sense
So when GRRM never reaches this point in the books, this will be the greatest 1000ish pages of the series. His whole dream was to establish characters, drive them apart, then bring them together to face a great advisory. Honestly, if it ever happens the interactions in this episodes in his words would probably make me cry 10+ times.
I’m somewhat disappointed everything is setting up for the North to defeat the NK then going to take it to Cersei. Seems like the whole series has been set up for the opposite to happen. Like the Hobbits cleansing the shire after the war is won.
I think the NK is skipping WinterFell, we are going to get a huge battle where the good guys win, and then, they have to go south to save the rest. Cersie will be herself and get got and from there, I have no idea.
That would be pretty great. NK and a second force fly to KL and defeat Cersei’s army and Cersei rises as his queen. So then they have to match south and defeat an even greater force.
hey if he can get the giant up in a jackhammer, theres no reason to think he cant get viserion up as well
-I think Brienne dies saving Jamie. -Theon dies saving Bran or Sansa. -Grey worm dies. Melisandre sees it -The hound, Jorah, Tormumd, Beric, Davos and Night watch guy all get got. Probably one more major person unexpectedly gets clipped.
Short of the NK taking his dragon north and packing it in to fire shit back up with those he’s killed. I doubt they leave that open though,
Idk I just assumed it was whatever happened to Shireen but I guess just about everyone who gets greyscale dies; so perhaps just a burn.
