why has arky not been able to reclaim their former dominance in bball -specifically recently. they have a coach that was well thought of, 2nd best facilities in SEC, yet they are 7-5 in SEC play
And their best foul shooter just happens to grab someone's arm as he runs by and it's a defensive foul
recruiting has been dogshit until recently. Arkansas actually produces a bunch of elite basketball talent in the state, and the top guys have been leaving the state lately (Archie Goodwin, Kevaughn Allen, Malik Monk, etc). Anderson has repaired a lot of those relationships and its starting to pay off in recruiting as we had a good class in 2016, 2017's is good, and 2018's is going to be a top 5 class and the best we've had in at least 10 years because that in-state class is loaded. Anderson's style doesn't really work, especially in the SEC with this officiating now with the rule changes limiting the physicality that defenders can get away with. It's also a big reason why Bruce Pearl's teams have struggled, they can't play goon ball anymore. He's not an x's and o's guy and just tries to wear the opponent down and win with depth. When you don't have depth, you have long offensive droughts like we're prone to. And Bud Walton needs some serious upgrades. We finally have a practice facility that opened last year. Before that we practiced all the time in BWA and its really aged the floor and the surrounding areas. The concourse area is really dated as well. But we got a BIG ASS TV!
Andy Kennedy has been at Ole Miss forever with only 2 tourney appearances, but never seems to be on the hot seat.
He's taken them to 2 of their 8 tournament appearances in the programs history. They still have a below .500 all time record. They aren't a basketball school, and are perfectly contempt with ~20 win seasons that Kennedy seems to be good for. It took 4 straight losing seasons from Rod Barnes before they finally decided to can him
