Wiley and Purifoy were ruled ineligible for 2017-18 after the university self reported (after their coach got popped) violations involving recruiting, extra benefits, and agents. Not just Person facilitating communication between players and agents. God damn you don’t even know what your own school admitted to doing.
SuperCam let me help you out here. This is the part where you are now supposed to say everyone cheats whats the big deal
They would have never got their eligibility back if it was proven they accepted pay for play cash out of HS, and nothing was ever said about that by the FBI. They don't even get involved in that. You're deflecting again. Chuck getting caught in some fake scheme involving FBI agents doesn't prove anything about pay for play for recruits out of HS. You made a whole bunch of claims you've yet to back up to no surprise. I would wait for the proof we paid all the others you named, but.... For the record I never said we weren't. I said the football team mostly made up of Tuberville recruits and a basketball team of unheralded basketball recruits wasn't proof we were slinging cash like these other programs loaded with 5*s, and that our recruiting has gotten better since. Football classes pre natty: 21st, 23rd, 6th Post: 5th, 11th, 10th, for the most part consistent ~ top 10 classes and most of the highest ranked recruits in school history Basketball: Chuma, Wiley, and Purifoy were the highest ranked recruits on the final 4 team. The rest weren't highly recruited. There's no way we were dropping monster bags on those players compared to now. Look at Jared Harpers offer list. There's a clear difference between our recruiting post final 4. Post final 4: Cooper(was highest ranked recruit in school history, Mcd AA), Thor(Top 10 5* prior to reclass), Chris Moore(Mr Bball in Arkansas), Jabari Smith(highest ranked in school history again), and Trey Alexander. Not to mention Jalen Green, BJ Boston, Walker Kessler, Jonathan Kumginga types weren't looking at us pre final 4.
Harper committed to Auburn in March of 2015. He was a top 90 recruit. That’s about as dumb as me saying Isaiah Joe and Daryl Macon were lightly recruited because they committed early. You want me to show you the receipts like I’m involved is just a weird stance to have. I just can’t believe there are people out there this stupid and oblivious but Auburn fans never cease to amaze me on this board.
You just landed Smith and he’s not signed, and probably won’t be by the time y’all get deep dicked by the NCAA We’ll see if Cooper sticks around or is allowed to play. Congrats though!
Smith signed last week. Cooper probably won’t be eligible to play in college, but that won’t be an Auburn issue, although it sure it won’t stop anybody from putting it on Auburn.
Harper had few D1 offers. You don't know what you're talking about. When Harper committed he was not a top 100 recruit.
Bruce pearl gets caught cheating and fired at Tennessee. Everyone: “no surprise!” Pearl gets hired at Auburn. Literally everyone: “enjoy it while you can before he gets caught cheating and Auburn is put on probation!” bruce is caught cheating and Auburn facing probation. Auburn fans: “wtf how could this happen????”
You realize that Pearl got fired because he lied about a bbq right? Let’s not act like that was an Albert Means situation.
Yeah, I've always seen the Pearl issue at Tennessee wasn't as much about the BBQ as it was the orchestrated lie to try to avoid punishment when, in actuality, the punishment probably wouldn't have been hugely significant for that incident. He made things so much worse on himself.
Boston College had point shaving scandal with Bruce Pearl on staff. In the late 80’s the Deon Thomas Illinois/Iowa scandal with Bruce Pearl at the center. Tennessee recruiting scandal resulting in firing their head coach, Bruce Pearl who was given a show cause. It is absolutely insane to think Bruce Pearl based on his history could ever be involved in scandal, especially at a place like Auburn.
Why did you leave out the UW-Milwaukee issue? He had a recruit and his parents over to his daughter's graduation party, which is a violation. There was no recruiting scandal at Tennessee. There was a recruiting violation and a lying scandal. Also, he was a student manager for BC the year of the point shaving scandal.
To quote the late great Jerry Tarkanian "Nine out of 10 schools are cheating," Tarkanian once said. "The other one is in last place."
I really don't understand why people spend so much time complaining about these minor violations that don't matter when they have a perfect reason to hate him because he's a lying snitch that secretly recorded a recruit and spliced the tape together to make it sound like he was admitting to getting paid off, all because he was mad he lost a recruiting battle
Pearl actually apologized 23 years later to the Illinois assistant he lost to... said he was young/stupid and that Deon was the victim. Rat for life, though. Anyone who splices a tape to create a lie is a scumbag. Especially when it could've fucked up an 18 year old's life
Guys he’s a good person he goes shirtless in a crowd of 500 students 1/3 his age for other games at their school
Forgot about that Boston idiot that went to Arkansas on SEC basketball coverage. That guy is so damn annoy
I’m pretty sure I could play for Mississippi valley state. The last time I played competitive basketball was in 8th grade
Really like this years team for Arkansas. Great shooting team, lots of depth, and finally have some length.
Yeah I love how they just keep running and gunning and missing, turning it over and throwing up bricks. Their big man fouled out with 18:30 left in the 2nd half.
I mean, we cheat like everyone. Chuck Pearson wasn't really good cheating to get players, he was enriching himself to steer kids to agents after Auburn. Not get them there or keep them there. It's a violation, sure. But not really an indictment of Bruce and recruiting cheating. Oklahoma State had a similar rouge and got a similar punishment Auburn self imposed, even though they are fighting it Cooper seems to have non Auburn issues. But let's not look past the real cheaters in the SEC. HOW THE FUCK DOES WILL WADE HAVE A JOB
HOOPS Important note from Bruce Pearl (11-25-20) Thread starterJay G. Tate Start dateToday at 9:59 AM He doesn't believe Auburn's self-imposed penalties will be the end of this story from a punitive perspective. "We've got to continue through the process," he said.
Correct. Similar to Oklahoma St, there’s an expectation of a loss of scholarships (OSU lost 3 over 3 years), probation (OSU got 3 years), and a fine. There might be some recruiting restrictions, although there were self-imposed restrictions a couple years ago. Bruce might be suspended under the HC Responsibility Charge. Those are some of the expectations.
