TYFYS Truman I'm about 60% through my reread of Morning Star so I will start this as soon as I finish it. Looking forward to it a lot.
Just finished it while on vacation Spoiler I thought was completely fine, but all the Covid/Trump dialogue literally feels like it came from an AI program that’s dataset was only Stephen King tweets. It made laugh but it’s so over the top.
Spoiler about half way through and feels like a slog. Hopefully will pick up in the second half. agreed the trump / Covid dialogue seems so over the top. We get it.
Im just a few chapters in. It wont ruin the book for me, but I hate when authors insert current events into the novels are so on the nose about it. Even in this case where I agree what's being said.
Spoiler finished this morning. It was enjoyable. I did like how you knew who the killers were from the beginning. Adds a different sort of tension. I didn’t understand the detailed dive on Barbara aside from introducing her brother as a future character? The villains were so good, did enjoy that.
1/4th of the way through. More mentions of Jan 6th, vaccines, Fauci. I completely agree with King but it just takes me out of the book. Outside of that I’m enjoying it.
Yeah I just got to the first of the Holly chapters and it’s a bit much. I’m enjoying it but found myself thinking “ok, I get it. I hope this isn’t the whole book”
I finished it 7/10 I think. Maybe 6.5 just because of all the covid references. Spoiler I enjoyed having the POV of both the investigator (she doesn't like to be called a detective) as well as the criminals. I enjoyed the "Is this actually working or is it just placebo effect and how crazy are these people" aspect of it as well. You definitely didn't have to read the previous novels to enjoy this, but I think knowing most of the side characters (Barbara, Jerome, Bill etc...) helps add to it. Also I don't remember them talking much about Holly's severe OCD in this, you can definitely see the symptoms but they talk about it in detail in previous books. Its not King's best but still overall very enjoyable.
Finished over the weekend forgot to update. 6.5/10 I hate to admit it, but the finger wagging about real world stuff just felt obnoxious and did take away from it a bit. Not mad that I read it, although if the book was a little bit longer, I probably would have.
I saw he was trending yesterday. Clicked to see if there was a tv show or something. Nope just arguing w chuds
