They got destroyed by a mid table Torino. I'm not sure they have enough talent just yet. But that Man City money will get them up for sure by 2024
I wouldn’t say that’s any certainty, probably unlikely even. Troyes isn’t seeing an influx of talent and Girona has been in the longest and they bounce up and down
I struggled with them and fiorentina for the last euro spot. Losing Koulibaly and Insigne, mainly Koulibaly, is going to be tough to overcome. They finished 3rd last season because their defense was great, now it’s not nearly as strong. Edit: forgot Mertens
They don’t have Insigne or Mertens. That’s their top 2/3 goal scorers. The team talent has taken a significant step back. Osi is a beast though
This wouldn’t receive the attention it deserves in the Bundesliga thread so spreading to other league threads Edit: Talking Musiala
Venezia tied Genoa on the final kick of the match but I think the guy was offside…..yep, VAR called in, 1-2 loss. Promotion battle off to a rough start.
Zaniolo is still allergic to passing I see. Dude could be the most entertaining player in the league(on and off the field) if he would pass the ball every once in a while.
Nah Roma had plenty of chences and Zaniolo would have had a 1st hat trick on another day. Other team had like one chance. Zaniolo is just maddening because he’s got the talent to be one of the best in the world. He just lacks a functional brain.
I used to think it was because he didn’t have faith in his teammates but now he’s got Dybala now and still playing with his head down.
He’s fun to watch. Had a beautiful pass to Dybala that barely missed the side net. Roma is going to be a problem if they can all stay healthy
obviously edited to make him look bad. He was easily the most dangerous person on the field. Like a said talented player but missing a brain. I dont want him to leave. Just learn to pass the ball sometimes.
Obviously it was all the poor touches, but still having two minutes of them in a match was funny after reading your comments earlier
Verona will be struggling in the bottom 1/4 of the league this season but credit to Napoli for handling them as they should
They’re on relegation watch list. Napoli on the other hand will need to score goals (2+) in matches to win as they will concede a lot more than they have in recent seasons
Sassuolo are trash. That roster got raided this summer. But I do love the first game hot takes from everyone. They are always the best
Napoli have a nice attacking roster. The defense is a big question mark. If Ruiz is sold i'm less bullish on this team. But defense is also a huge question mark for Roma... it's the spider man meme
Take off the blinders, Juve looked way different than past few years after the initial 10 min. That’s also without Pogba and Chiesa. Sassuolo are on par with Udinese and much better than Verona, Lecce, and Salernitana. Who looked the best in week 1? Roma’s defense have all played together for a while now and looked just fine week 1. They’re not nearly as shaky as Napoli with or without Ruiz.
Well they aren’t gonna see Pogba for quite some time. Also ADM as expected looks great now the question with him and Bonucci can they hold up long term and what’s behind them
Chiesa can easily slide into his role or stay as a left sided winger with Cuadrado dropping to the bench. Di Maria definitely brings a dynamic that complements Vlahovic extremely well so he’s a big piece to their puzzle. But if we’re going down the what if scenarios it would alter projections for pretty much every team in the league. All things being equal, Juve is going to frustrate the Juve haters this season.
What blinders? Your anointing Juve Champs after 90 minutes of football. The best two teams I watched this weekend were Milan and Juve. With that said Inter are still the favorites to win the league and nothing that happened the last 3 days changes that for me.
Quote where this happened? Inter is still managed by Simone who is an underachiever until he proves otherwise. Conte left him a well oiled machine and best team on paper by a good bit. Inter should have ran away with the scudetto last year but Simone does Simone things. I’d be interested in a friendly wager on Inter not winning the title.
So we can judge Inter based on past failures but we can't say the same for Roma... gotcha. What type of wager are we making?
Well for one Roma has hardware in Jose first year and made strong moves during the transfer market to build off of. Simone has cazzo. $50? $100
You can also look at it by being able to lesson the sting by buying a solid bottle of whiskey on my behalf…
I think the other factor is what Inters roster looks like after the market closes, decent chance they still have to sell one big player
Not really... Coppa Italia, SuperCoppa I guess are worth something. But a third division European title is about as useful as preseason friendly trophies.
LaLiga is the only league that should discount winning Europa Conference League. That’s only because they’ve dominated the other 2.
If it's something fans get excited about that's great, but it's not something to mention as an accomplishment relative to other top teams.
cant get behind that either tbh. They could only win the tournament they were in, and they did. Not the project’s fault that’s where it started. ETA that the comparison wasn’t dick measuring Inter and Roma. Obviously Inter are the more successful club. The comparison was Simone’s underachievement— blowing Scudetto to Milan— to Roma securing the ECL. I think one underachieving and one winning what was in front of them is relevant.
