I think that this project is supposed to be so wildly lucrative for them that the support staff and systems resources for just MDR probably rival those of the entirety of other major companies. I’d thought that Mammalians Nurturable was raising animals for companywide testing, severing to deal with cruelty, but now I’m thinking maybe they breed a thousand goats just for find one perfect sacrifice.
Thread is wild with theories. Definitely wasn't Helena and there's absolutely nothing cruel about watching your best friend/lover leave for the last time, like she thought he was doing. That's actually a very normal thing to do. Helena also wouldn't have soapboxed the marching band to start a mutiny. She has the charisma of a door knob. Team Milkshake turns in season 3 Would like to receive at least one waffle card for a birthday in the future S3 = reintegration and hopefully resolution to the Irv/Burt mystery
I don’t have much to add other than that was the best season finale I’ve ever seen definitely not Helena. helly wasn’t being cruel, that was just her realizing her innie has wants and needs and deserves love too. Poor gemma
The more I think about it the less I like it. I get Stiller wants to show off visually and just blow that budget but it just annoying how they have to make the lack of surveillance/security in order to make this make sense at all and the marching band idea is dumb as hell. And now they just need to flip a switch and the innies are gone so all of that kinda is meaningless.
I understand having issues with the lack of surveillance although I haven’t completely given up on them providing a reasonable explanation for that. Hard disagree on the marching band. Thought that entire sequence was amazing.
Don’t forget that this whole thing could have been avoided if sethypoo would have just waited to talk to Dylan g the next morning.
I mean the fucking Kier's are bizarre eccentric people. They have animatronic statues of themselves. A marching band is hardly out of line for the craziness of this world, and more importantly...amazing.
With Cold Harbor done there really isn’t a reason for them to keep Mark alive or Dylan G employed. I have complete faith that there will be an explanation that makes sense though.
They explained the lack of surveillance in episode one or two: it is Milchik’s attempt to curry favor with Mark and the rest of MDR so they would continue refining.
They still have surveillance. People watching them point blank from their computer monitors. Lack of security: Drummond could kill literally anyone in the building with his bare hands. Did they lack the security for a full scale revolution (of like 4 people) on a day where they needed Mark to complete 5 minutes of work before the entire program was done? Not really. Milichik + Drummond + the 2 other Gemma employees vs. who? MDR? The whole thing worked by strokes of incredible dumb luck. If anything the lack of surveillance would apply to the outies. Lumen had no idea that a disgruntled ex-employee had coached up Mark. There was no reason to suspect anything so they planned for a party not for a revolution. Don't really have to suspend belief for any of that
I'd disagree. I think there is very strong reasons for both to stay alive. Like you said, Gemma is out, and if she was meant to be some vessel for Jame or whatever weird shit they were doing with the goat that path is now dead. I definitely think each of the MDR refiners is doing the same thing Mark was, refining the consciousness of someone they are very close to. I would imagine there's a good chance they want the MDR team to keep refining for a new 'Gemma' from either Dylan or Helly and I don't think either will cooperate if they kill off Mark S. If anything, I think Lumon is going to try to get Mark S to stay on the severed floor indefinitely. If they let him clock out, he'll go home to Gemma and they'll expose everything going on. I think they're going to cater to him and Helly to make them happy and stay down there (make sleeping quarters or give them a home so they can 'be together' etc etc). I'm sure Gemma and Devon will try to get Mark S out from the outside but idk what that will look like. Loved the finale and excited for what's next!
tHeReS nO sUrVeIlLaNcE Meanwhile Drummond almost murdered Mark S on his way to the exports and imports elevator.
as far as the surveillance goes, I think this whole thing is viewed by Lumen as a science experiment and they want to interfere as little as possible. a big question I have is how many more MDR departments are there and what are they doing? Cold Harbor seems like it was THE project with the eyes it had on it. what are all the other offices working on?
my best guess is other pharmaceuticals, if Cold Harbor truly was a way to eradicate "pain" from one's life, I assume they've got other ideas bouncing around too
Which testing floor? Gemmas? Think the old black coworker said in her convo with Irv that they used to take stuff there regularly (the "exports hall" or whatever) until they assigned someone special to do it. Potentially when Gemma was recruited
They can't kill Mark and get away with it cleanly. Lumon knows that Mark's family is at least somewhat in the loop.
Why would they have to kill anyone on the severance floor? They just don’t let them back on the floor and there’s no memory of what happened
I think Jame "seeing Kier in Helly" is a huge part of S3 and keeping her innie alive rather than just flipping a switch. curious how Mark's reintegration goes between his innie and outie, because if he ever leaves that floor then outie mark is never going back
can almost guarantee there's a trippy scene next season of him flipping back and forth between innie/outie consciousness rapidly while making a decision about going in somewhere severed for helly
Hopefully we get some footage of him cutting a rig tonight Three years ago, Tramell Tillman hatched a long-term plan to be invited to the Met Gala. Tonight, he's arrived at the event in Thom Browne, whose designs he'd previously worn while promoting Season 2 of “Severance” in London. My wife really struggled with how frumpy Adam Scott looked in this show most likely because we binged Parks & Rec immediately before watching this series.
I only watched the first episode but I was confused and then sorta got it and enjoyed it. I will continue on.
