The book was better. Spoiler only on episode 3 so I don’t know yet but I felt I need to give the book snob reply
Fidelio The Amma hog scene was a lot more disturbing in the book. It seemed tame in the show like a throw away scene in the book it was kinda important.
Spoiler it describes the intelligence “humanity” of pigs. How the sow is miserable being forced to nurse the piglets. It describes in detail the bloody nipples and how fuckec it is. It “shows” Amma is being cold heartless kind of a psychopath by how much she enjoys watching the Sows in pain. The show having her hold the piglet kinda humanizes her.
Now that I finished the show I can say that I am glad I read the book first. The show was good but IMO it ended too quickly. The end seemed rushed compared to the book. There would be so much I’d be confused about if I hadn’t read the book, especially the end (credit) scene. I liked it a lot and with a few exceptions it was true to the book.
Finished the show last night. One loose end I haven't seen addressed: How did they have enough evidence to charge Adora with Marian's murder 20 years after the fact?
Because there had been a great deal of hushing and effort made to hide evidence. I.e. Having her cremated, refusing the autopsy, ruining the reputation and career of the nurse, etc etc
