Been waiting on this debate for a few years, tbh.
Excellent way for people to out themselves as IDIOTS
His dumb faced bust in Canton might be the greatest one there.
yes and first ballot and anyone that votes no bathes with their father
Clown Baby has had numerous fights in Publix parking lots with fathers, but I believe a bath would be a new experience.
How could you say he isn’t?
helmet pass/catch alone is enough for me
that gets all the shine for good reason but the manningham throw is just so much more absurd and great
Yes, lots of people get in the HOF
The primary argument against him will probably be consistency.
His career QB rating is significantly lower than peers who will be locks like Roethlisberger, Peyton, etc.
i could maayyyybee understand the “is he deserving” argument no matter how much i strongly disagree.
anyone that thinks he isn’t making it needs to chaperoned at all times
Agreed with the latter; the former is more what interests me, and what the poll question is really asking. Changed thread title to make it clearer.
Two Super Bowl MVPs and retires 7th in TDs and 7th in passing yards.
one of those mvps coming against an 18-0 pats team makes it a no brainer yes
he’s one of the most important figures to nfl history in the last 20 years. regardless of his dumb faces
Throw off between him and his brother. Winner gets the HOF
The 7th in passing yards/TDs thing doesn't mean much to me. Virtually every modern QB is rewriting the record books because of the rule changes and offensive innovations.
I don't mind seeing Eli get in. There's definitely an argument for and against but fuck it he beat the Pats twice.
I voted no because I had to use him as my fantasy football QB in 2013 and he sucked.
I feel like saying no is major recency bias because his last years were rough
its that and how dumb his face is
Depends on how you want to view the Hall.
I don't think he was ever one of the true elite QBs of his era, but he was definitely very good and had some incredible playoff runs that are hall worthy.
His face is impossibly dumb.
with the bar of entry for the NFL HOF there's no reasonable argument that he shouldn't get in
thank you nfm gbr
He kept us from Pats fans becoming even more insufferable with an undefeated season, so I'm cool with him making it for that alone
And he was a Ben McAdoo stroke away from being a comfortable second for consecutive starts.
was with a buddy and his wife watching a texans/pats playoff game. some masshole douche comes up and starts talking shit to us. i say how i am a giants fan so we can go down that route if he wants. dude immediately apologizes and offers to buy us a round
he prevented idiots like that from being able to run around unencumbered in life.
name canton after him ffs
benny mac wanted to draft mahomes but management wouldn’t let him trade up
he was literally the only one in the front office who knew eli was washed. of course he went about it like the idiot he is and started geno instead of davis webb
benny with the good hair walked so danny dimes could run
I don't even know what it takes to get into the hall of fame with the way the T.O. thing played out. Was he ever a top 5 qb in the league? He never made an all-pro team
They are all in and I know the game has changed but go back and look at Stabler and Griese’s seasons. Almost half of their career they’re less than 20 TDs a season and half of them they have more INTs than TDs.
If they are in he’s a no brainer.
Starting Geno Smith would have cost Benny his job even if they were 11-5.
Eli's career record is 117-117
joe namath sucked ass and is in because of one quote
He was a 3x league leader in interceptions
I voted no but not gonna argue it. All I gotta say is you have to be really fucking stupid to compare passing or receiving stats of this era vs any other, especially passing.
joe namath wasn’t even good and he’s in the HOF so yes
I think Bob Griese is a bad example. He was a really good QB in the 70s. Nobody was throwing 30 TDs at the time. The Eagles led the league in passing in 1973 with 2,998 yards as a team. Their 23 passing TDs was second.
Carson Palmer with a better supporting cast.
In a word: No
Phillip Rivers destroys Eli in every statistical category but super bowl wins and he'll barely get a sniff at the HOF.
He also refuses to QB sneak though so deserves it.
I chuckle when people use 2 SB wins as if he won them on his own. He won 2 SB's bc his defense played their ass off. They won while scoring 17 and 21 points. If he goes in, every single player on their defense should go in too bc they affected the game as much or more than Eli. In both playoffs that ended in SB's, the defense gave up 15ppg. They never gave up 21. In fact, he never won a playoff game where his defense gave up 21 or more. Eli didn't have to win games, he just couldn't lose them. Take out the 2 SB's that he was carried to and it's laughable to suggest he's a HOF'er.
You're onto something but didn't need the every single defensive player should go in
Ehh, making a point that they deserve it as much or more than him. I don't think he should be in, therefore they shouldn't either.
He’s getting in and all you fools can kiss his derpy white ass.
Eli's best statistical season 2015? 4,432 yards 62.6% completion, 35 TDs 14 INTs
His best season he was 6th in yards, 16th in completion % (QBs who played 12+ games) 4 way tie for second in TDs (Bortles in that tie)
Eli retiring makes me feel old as fuck.
Yep we graduated college the same here.
attending giants training camp basically every year until 2006 makes me also feel a million years old
This should come as a shock to no one, but Eli and Eathan Edwards were fraternity brothers.
I think you mean Eli was in Eathan’s fraternity
