hollywood has lots of crossed streams but rock hudson was a bit of a deadbeat and kurt was the dad who stepped up
I know this show is from the writers of Ted Lasso candy land, but there is probably a line between forgiveness/closure and your teenage daughter hanging out socially with the grown man who killed her mother in a drunk driving accident.
Man the dialogue and departe was elite all episode. They’re cooking this season but I wish they just drop the Louis storyline. So many more interesting things going on than an absurd plot line where a grown man is being allowed to have contact with before today a minor female.
really enjoyed the first season but they’ve taken it to another level with Season 2. This is one of best shows currently on TV imo
I know the show is a comedy in theory but it fucking breaks me every other week or so. It’s so good though.
The usage of Sean’s character has seemed a little weird to me this season. He seems to show up in a fairly intense way for a short bursts then disappears for long stretches in between.
Seeing Paul deteriorate throughout the season has been increasingly brutal, especially having seen up close my grandfather go through something similar
I may be overthinking, but kind of felt like it was purposeful as he continues to grow outside of the group but involved in the big moments?
Great episode. Big laughs throughout, some feel goods, then lots of emotion. Only one more left sucks.
Show makes me laugh out loud and almost brings me to tears in back to back scenes. Such great writing and acting. Really hoping the finale ends up beat but it will prolly be jimmy getting a dui and hitting someone after going on a date with Robin
The probably need to go the Lasso direction of wrapping this show after S3. You can't do the show without Paul and stringing out his deterioration is too much. Jimmy gets his shit together, Paul retires, Jimmy takes over the practice, and hires a new therapist - possibly Sean gets into just a counselor role specifically for vets/PTSD.
I was thinking they were setting it up for Louis to kill himself in the finale but that may be a little too dark.
I don’t think it’s a massive stretch. Him appearing happy again. Conflict between Jimmy and Alice over him. Jimmy deciding to go round to his place to forgive him but it’s too late. Could be wrong but I don’t get the feeling that the Louis character is going to be there for the long run.
overall a very good season but Spoiler jesus christ figure out the dialogue outside of "I just found out you got drunk and murdered someone so you can't come to my thanksgiving. happy thanksgiving though!"
That season was a masterpiece. The above mentioned awkward moment aside, man what a show. Ford needs Emmy consideration.
Yeah that really stood out as not only being n cruel but conpletely unrealistic. Like who talks like that?
Brett Goldberg said the plan is only three seasons. Four seasons is my borderline for all time fave series, but there isn’t a part of this show not done well. It’s gonna make my list.
To be fair, that guy came off as pretty absentminded in his other appearances. It was definitely a weak point but wasn’t totally out of line with what very little we’d gotten from his characters thus far.
Segal is an underrated comedy actor. I can’t think of any role he’s been in where he doesn’t steal scenes if he’s not the main actor. He’s obviously surrounded by great talent here but holds his own every time.
The “I’m not ok” gave off real “I’m not ready for this” vibes from HIMYM and I got the same chills. He’s got such amazing chemistry with everyone while being the straight man most of the time.
Just got caught up and I’ll definitely be rewatching. We just started developing some background for some ancillary characters that I’d like to see more of. I do hope there’s more than one season left but it’s been a ride either way.
Top 3 moves in S2 Spoiler 1. Getting rid of the Jimmy/Gabby dynamic. Maybe I’m an old head, but sleeping with your dead wife’s BF/dead BF husband. 2. Derek #1/Derrick #2. I’ve been a sucker for DWjr since Happy Endings and Ted McGinley is so good. 3. The murder backstory. I know they were heavy handed at the end to get to the point, but Brett Goldberg made you feel every scene he was in. 4. (I know I said 3) but shoutout to everything Harrison Ford. Just amazing in every scene.
Finale spoiler Spoiler To piggyback on this, my FIL just went into at home hospice care today but we knew it was coming. Ford’s speech hit real fucking hard, and he was perfect, as always
Just watched the whole season in two days. So funny and yet makes me cry more than any other show. I hope apple pushes it for some awards. Some interesting threads for next season ready to go. Oh and Derek gets season mvp.
