I like how every time he calls for Jian Yang he screams it. "JIAN YANG!!" Also enjoyed this quote Erlich: Jian-Yang. Motherfuck. I gave you the ability to spin gold, and instead, you've spun pubic hair with shit in it, and gravel and corn... Then shortly after Jian-Yang: (to Monica) Erlich was right. You are a white witch. Lol
"my name is Erich Bachman and Im a liya!" "who are you yelling at? no one is here. you arent going to make me change my opinion of myself"
"I hate to invoke the name of the Nazarene, but Jesus Christ Richard. What the fuck were you thinking?!?"
What was the significance of Gavin sending the big picture of himself at the end? I'm struggling to figure that out for some reason.
my guess is that Gavin is so self absorbed that he legitimately thinks gifting a picture of himself is a grand gesture
Love the camera angle they had of Gavin when he was talking to Richard made it appear he was standing on a ledge. Nope just the steps to his private jet
the jokes have been fine. i'm just not really into it when things seem like they're going in 5 different directions every episode.
Isn't that what Richard used as a white board to prove out the math (or whatever) behind why his new internet would work?
That's how I took it - Gavin gave it to Richard because the picture is Richard's version of the "garage."
I think all of these answers are correct. Gavin is still the egomaniac billionaire who will launch a drone strike against Dinesh, but part of him is still the bright eyed kid in that garage. Working with Richard sparked something inside him, as he is the first person to be honest with Gavin in who knows how long. Denpok, advisors, lawyers, chronies - as Gavin has at times wondered, no one tells him the truth. Richard has remained steadfast since the beginning of the series, his company is Pied Piper and he wants to do something significant with his algorithm. $10M offers, legal woes, Action Jack's box, etc - he has not sold out. We will see how it unfolds, but it looks like Gavin finally sees through all of the b.s. which has clouded his judgement.
Probably right. My original question was prompted more by their jaw dropped reaction like it was a huge deal. Thought there might be something I was missing. Most of these reasons don't really warrant the reaction on the show in my mind but I'm probably reading too much into it.
yea, its pretty clear the writers are terrified of writing a show about what these guys are going to do if/when they are successful.
I seriously hope we get at least the last season being that. Even if they fail hard in the end it would still be great to see that for a season. Still standing by my prediction that Richard is going to somehow end up with 10 million dollars and we come full circle.
Mike Judge has plainly stated that if/when they become successful, they will not be nearly as interesting as characters and thus the show would be over.
thats bullshit. maybe Richard would be less interesting but the rest of the cast having money could be absolutely hilarious.
