already at 220 hours in anniversary edition... good stuff.

 

also bought the bundle of morrowind and oblivion. currently modding them out with "next gen graphics" and such, or so the youtube videos say. hoping it makes them pretty modern and playable. we will see.

 

What’s different about the anniversary edition?

 

It includes all the creation club content. I think that's it.

 

I downloaded it again last month. Rushed 100 enchanting so I can make -100% destruction cost items and unlimited magic. Ez Pz game

 

The real fun is alchemy glitching an amulet of talos to the point where you have infinite shouts (negative cooldown on them).

 

Glitching things like that takes all the fun out of the game. Becoming OP asap makes the game lose life IMO.

 

infinite shouts is way less OP but much more fun than 100% free destruction magic cost.

 

Sword combat is really garbage though. The game really pushes you into magic/destruction or sneak/archery pretty quick.

I remember seeing how hype the 2 sword fighting style looked in trailers

 

I play with a 2-handed war hammer and really enjoy the combat. Do you play in first-person?

 

Yes

 

Third-person is better for combat. Much much better. Got the ordinator mod for revamped skill trees and it makes melee combat more fun too. Nothing like charging into everything and smashing.

Vanilla is fun, but modding has given some new life to the game. The ordinator perk overhaul is awesome. Unlocks a bunch of different builds. I also use better loot, unlimited vendors, quick ore mining, graphics mods, a bunch of extra gear mods, companions can’t be killed, some combat perks that make energy AI smarter, and some standard graphics mods. Makes the grind better when it comes to unloading your inventory but doesn’t break the game. Pop it on legendary difficulty to even the playing field.

 

I mean let's be honest, combat in general in an elder scrolls game is just complete fucking trash.

 

Then you’re doing it wrong. On m/kb and in third-person, it’s not bad at all. First person console is pretty rough that’s for sure.

 

There's only so much window dressing you can apply to "wildly slashing from right to left with your weapon" in a combat system that doesn't have combos, skills or parries.

 

Ordinator gives you combos and perry abilities. Makes the combat more versatile and skill oriented.

 

Subjective question, but probably starting my first play through tonight.

Funnest class or character to run?

 

stealth archer is the only thing that isnt clunky af unless youre playing vr

I just started a new play though. I’m doing a one handed sword with one hand and flames in the other. Got a nice ebony crossbow I pull out now and then. I haven't really done any quests yet. Just running around. Up to level 15. A lot of dying and running haha.

 

...am I to understand you've never played skyrim before?

 

Unfortunately yes. RDR2, Fallout and Skyrim are on my to play list.

Fallout 3, New Vegas and 4 are all pretty awesome to me. Loved Skyrim as well. RDR2 while an amazing game was little meh for me. Just too tedious at times

 

Stealth archer or destruction magic imo for first play through. Two handed weapons are fine too, but stealth archer is extremely satisfying

 

Keep in mind that every build will become broken at some point. Stealth archer gets really broken, but it’s fun. Save a lot in the early game because you’re fucked when you break cover and there are 5 enemies running at you.

 

Evidently there are a group of mods that will turn the game into a Dark Souls-like version of Skyrim. Has anybody done this? Definitely going to check it out after I finish this play through.

 

For some reason my new play through keeps fucking up. My character just stops moving. I’ve tried everything. This sucks.

Finally doing a dedicated playthrough of the Anniversary Edition. It seems like the mod situation has been resolved and the game looks really good.

 

All the bugs still exist. It wouldn’t be Skyrim without it. I still love it.

 

Is a new fallout or ES next. I know it’s going to be awhile either way.

 

I’d guess ES6, they’ve at least got some dev details on it.

So Starfield, ES 6 then fallout 5. So probably 5 years for ES 6, and 10 away from FO5.

 

Sometimes, it feels like Skyrim is just you running errands, designed by the guy who sets up all of the still-burning candles and treasure chests in underground lairs that he stumbled across.

He and his buddies are just drunkenly enjoying the antics of some guy whom they convinced is half-dragon.

I just quit another play through because I got to that feeling again. There were several quests I couldn't finish because of bugs so on to another play through of Witcher 3.

 

Just got a SteamDeck a week ago, and Skyrim was the first game I uploaded, b/c I am very familiar with it, and it isn’t a huge game so it wouldn’t take long to upload. I am still playing it each night in bed. It sucks you in.

Fun note, I’ve never played more than 10 hours into a play through of Witcher 3, due to life responsibilities (mainly kids). Have a Switch, but it isn’t powerful enough to pull of good renditions of more demanding games, so I’m looking forward to starting The Witcher 3 up on the SteamDeck now.

 

I get my SteamDeck next week. 256. How does Skyrim run on it?

Started a new play through, since it’s been awhile. Such a well done game.. orc, two handed, heavy with berserker rage just mauls people.

also the load times on PS5 make it so much better.

 

It’s crazy how deep and replayable it is

 

I’m level 30 with 100 two hand, 75 archer and line 70 armor. Haven’t even gone to the dragon grey beards yet. Sure it’s kind of cheating getting companions and paying for training then trade them to get your gold back, but levels you up quick.
