I don’t think so. Doesn’t sound familiar. Only prescriptions for sleep I’ve ever been on are trazadone, ambien, Lunesta and dayvigo. Dayvigo being the one that’s worked.
It’s always been like this. I’ve been this way since I was a child. I’d pretend to go to sleep then get out of bed and read or play around until I heard me parents wake up then pretend to be asleep when they’d come to wake me up. Same for when I became an adult and I’d just stay up for days on end and finally pass out for a bit on the floor or something. I still do that. I’ll end up in the bathroom floor sleeping on a folded up towel after a long spell.
That stuff helped when I was having some intense psychotic episodes. Also currently getting checked in for a sleep study at the hospital. I'm thrilled.
Did it help? I do have extreme anxiety. I start my group therapy next week for it finally, but I’m on buspar and Xanax for my anxiety.
I've been through the whole gambit Rx wise, 3 sleep studies and an MSLT. Seroquel is the only thing that works for me. Surely your psychiatrist would consider it since it's cheap, been around for decades, and does the trick in lose doses. High doses is used for psychotic reasons. Worth a shot. Watch the eating habit and make sure you give yourself enough time to come off it in the morning if you can get it.
SIAP but anyone with nightmares stemming from any kind of trauma should look into Prazosin. Worked wonders for me. In my childhood and teens I used to sleepwalk a lot. Then 20s to 30s I would get sleep paralysis often. After that it morphed into super intense nightmares. Went on it in February and haven’t had a nightmare since.
Not sure. I can’t quit paying attention and thinking about everything if that makes sense. I’m hyper alert and my mind never shuts the fuck up.
Do you have a hard time moving from one task to another but are also easily distracted? Do you often start task without completing them and then move on to another while the first one is still open?
Never. I have to finish what I start before I start something else. It bugs the shit outta me. I always “zone in” on whatever I’m doing.
I actually found my some of my sleep issues were my inability to let something I enjoy wait until tomorrow so if I was in the middle of reading a good book I would push through 5-6 more chapters until I literally couldn’t keep my eyes open because I didn’t want to wait until after school/work the next day to pick it back up tldr: fomo affected my sleeping habits
This was basically me also - had to start drinking at night to ever sleep decently - it sucked. Working out constantly and diet helped dramatically but still a 4 hour sleep is a huge win. I used to go a couple days without sleep unless I got hammered and passed out - sleeping meds never worked for me. Diet change was the biggest positive move for me.
Definitely makes sense - I basically think about and write in my head every email/phone call/meeting that may potentially occur the next day when I'm trying to sleep. I move around so much that I end up heading to the couch and putting on something boring so I don't negatively impact MLS 's sleep pretty often.
Not being able to workout hard has been a huge issue. Tore my right bicep lifting back in late July and I’m just now starting to get the go ahead to get back into the gym. I’ve just been doing cardio but it’s not the same release for me as lifting and doing cardio.
For sure, had to move into a new place and lift a lot of shit and it made me realize how much of a difference it makes compared to doing just cardio when it comes to being able to sleep well - have been on a good lifting routine since and between that and healthier diet I've at least gotten towards normalcy.
i did seroquel for a while but not for sleep. ive also tried some really unhealthy shit like a bottle of nyquil or 20 benadryl which usually works but id prefer my organs keep functioning. pot can help sometimes but its inconsistent. edibles work better but thats not an option until the day that insurance starts covering it. ive tried melatonin supplements but i really dont care to take things the body produces naturally because i will just stop producing it eventually, also it doesnt help. ive tried various calming herb blends which honestly has just turned into a tobacco replacement for me; i want the satisfaction of smoking but dont care if it has nicotine. and i'll throw this one out there since ive always been incredibly open about my shit on this here message board: my most recent suicide attempt included taking a three month supply of klonopin. i slept just long enough to miss the first half of the most recent cfb ncg. ultimately, i need something to calm my mind to get to sleep and then something to keep me numb enough that my pain and hypersensitivity issues dont cause me to wake up every 15 minutes.
I hate that you're in pain - but there are a lot of amazing things to do/see in this world man and I hope you can try to focus on those as goals.
the current meds im on havent really helped the day to day pain but have minimized the worst of the worst days. thats very helpful. and theyre working somewhat as antidepressants. i always aim to do/see as much as possible when its not that bad and i have the financial means to but those days are much more seldom than in the past. things are getting better. its happening very slowly but its happening.
Yesh. I don't think strong is the correct adjective to use and you've probably heard this, I think you should hang your head high for how much you've worked through. My word means nothing outside of sharing the same mental health/sleep issues. Seroquel is used in high dosages for anti-psychotic stages. Low dosages of Seroquel are used for getting to sleep, and especially staying asleep. Food for thought if you can advocate for your own prescriptions. 100-200, half them to try 50mgs first. 100 works for me and I can't stay asleep for longer than thirty minutes off of it. Zopiclone is another Rx aimed at keeping you asleep (6-8 hours)
mostly the former. if something works im going to keep doing it regardless of how unhealthy it may be (see the bit about benadryl and nyquil).
I need to get sleeping pills. Drank way too much this weekend/slept a ton and gonna be on like 3 hours for tomorrow Melatonin and NyQuil do absolutely nothing
Unfortunately no. OTC sleep aids aren't meant for long term. Psychiatrist (usually takes a few months to get in, will likely need a referral from your primary) or request a sleep study (also likely need a referral, but a sleep study helps to pinpoint what's wrong with your sleep). A good psychiatrist goes a long way. Sorry you have to deal with that too, sleeping disorders suck the life out of you.
Trazadone and Dayvigo are the combo that knocks me out. Before I got them I would use melatonin and Zquill for OTC. The dissolvable melatonin worked the best for me. Just kicked in quicker and got me sleepy faster.
Intense and sometimes frequent episodes of sleep paralysis, severe sleep arena and pretty bad ADHD. Yea my sleep habits are shit. I sometimes wonder how many years I've taken off my life with my shitty sleep.
So my goddamn useless insurance company is once again refusing to pay for the sleeping medication I’ve been on for years and wanting me once again to go through the gambit of less expensive medicine that doesn’t work. So I have to pop ambien and lunesta and all that shit for like a month, meanwhile not sleeping, for them to go and cover my medicine that does work. They’ve done this before and can’t remember what thread I ranted about it in. I’m hoping my psych can get an override since we’ve tried this before and I about lost it. I have alcohol issues and I was having to basically knock myself out every night with a ton of whiskey, trazadone, Xanax and Zquill. Great system we have here.
Ask your psych if there’s a sleep study that you can maybe do. At least then, there would be some hard data to fight your case with.
Prior authorization from the psych with proof of previous medications tried, for how long, and the effects should do the trick.
It should but it always takes over a week somehow. I think the last time was like 10 days before they could get it sorted out. I know this is minor compared to people who are on medications that keep them alive and have to go through the same thing but it’s still a shitty system we have here.
I wouldn't recommend this for a long term solution. And with a 100 mg you are going to be groggy as shit the next day
Apparently I've began snoring the last few weeks, it isn't super loud but my wife is a light sleeper so it's been a whole thing. I started using breathe right strips but they're not consistently preventing the snoring. Anyone have a solution that worked for them?
I don’t have anything like some of you guys have, but i am a bad sleeper. I just started drinking tart cherry juice and it’s been super helpful, may be worth checking out for some of you guys.
