Heard the A&M pool hasn’t changed a drop of water in 20 years and has 0 CYA. Scientific conclusion is the semen is the only chemical proven to reduce CYA.

All looks commercial so some-what out of my normal experience (by choice). With that being said this is my from the hip impression.

    Pros:
    1. Schedule 80 plumbing is both badass and looks badass.
    2. Chemical chlorine and pH monitoring is kickass and the best way to go if one can afford the installation, ongoing maintenance, and has a pool operator that knows wtf they are doing.
    3. Plumbing is amazingly streamlined for how much there is, very efficient and professional job.
    4. Loads of space for activities. Most equipment areas appear to be an afterthought. Either homeowners do not have or unwilling to give up the proper amount of space to adequately be able to service their equipment.

    Cons:
    1. This might not be a negative if it is required by codes where you are or they are all actually needed. That is a shitload of valves that will require rebuilding and replacement at some point. Considering they are almost open, makes me wonder if less valves could have been used by installing them further upstream on the return plumbing before the plumbing branches out or downstream on the suction plumbing after the plumbing joins together. Also, maybe they are all required, without knowing what all of the lines do it is hard to say.
    2. Looks like a condo pool. Nothing against condo owners but I am generally charging more. Parking is mostly a bitch, hours are very restrictive and access to move tools and equipment in and out is generally time consuming and an absolute beating. If this is in a single family dwelling, this is now a positive.

Also, your surface is marcite? Not even pebble tec? Did they go back in time to the mid 90s to build your pool last year?

I am all about busting chops but from just a personal preference standpoint, I abhor pebble tec. Can’t stand the look or feel. The look is not so bad on the smaller aggregate pebbles but still not a huge fan.

Yes it lasts longer but if it makes you not enjoy your pool then what is the purpose.

Maybe, but marcite is an outdated material and technology. It’s like putting a water heater in your new home that isn’t tankless.

It is closer to saying granite or marble is outdated because quartz and solid surface are now available for countertops.

Both pebble tec and marcite have their positives and negatives.

Marcite is base material, is it not? It is considered a cheaper product than quartz and pebble, is it not?

Marcite is typical plaster and runs on average $4/sq. ft. It will last 8-12 years.

Quartz/aggregate runs on average $5/sq. ft. It will last 10-15 years.

Pebble runs on average $10/sq. ft. It will last maybe 20 years.

Cost wise, quartz is a superior performer to pebble. If just throwing money at something means it is the best, then yeah, pebble is the best.

If I like the feel of smooth plaster on my feet better and prefer the aesthetics a smooth pool finish with crystal clear water gives than I can resurface it once and my two plaster jobs will last long as or longer than your one pebble job and I will end up paying less.

Tomorrow for Father’s Day I will be installing my 65” Seura outdoor tv with built in sound bar and after burying speaker wires last week I will be installing 4 speakers in trees, an outdoor sub and one (possibly two) Sonos amps.

What does a 65” outdoor tv cost? And why wouldn’t you buy a normal tv that cost less and replace it more often?

Seura is the Pentair of outdoor TVs so they are crazy expensive. Luckily I have a friend that works for an A/V company and he got the 65” Seura with soundbar for $2k.

I’m going to put this TV real close to the pool so it almost has to be an outdoor TV. Additionally the Seuras have great picture even in full sun.

Gotta have my Aggies in HD or 4K this fall.

Just sent this to Zach but figured I’d post in here too.

I just got my new kit in and everything was in check except my CA. It was 200+ ppm. Maybe explains why I can dump chlorine in and it gets algae a few days later.

It rained 8 inches here so that added a bunch of “fresh water”. My dog swims in it a ton so it loses water a lot from that but I don’t usually have to fill it. I try not to because my water has a ton of iron in it and I don’t want it to stain the pool.

What would you suggest I do to fix it ?

Had wife do the tests again to verify. I fly to NOLA tomorrow. I’ll see if she can get the water checked. She really enjoyed helping me, don’t know if that’s gonna be a good or bad thing in the long run.
