Update: they have not shown up to gunite nor responded to my texts telling them not to shoot without talking to me first.
Congrats on being the owner of a half done pool until you can find another company that will bat cleanup.
I think the contractor is just pouty because I ruined his plan to gunite in the rain. And I’m ok pissing people off. It’s actually a talent of mine. We got 2.5 inches of rain yesterday evening/night with pretty heavy thunderstorms all the way until the morning. Maybe the gunite would have been ok, maybe not. That said I’ve only paid $20k to get to pre-gunite. I’d bet a lot of money Blue Haven isn’t walking away at all. But if need be I’m sure I could find another company to come out and wrap things up for another $55-$60k.
So I was watering the gunite last night to help it cure and totally forgot to turn the hose off overnight: I think I’m going to be a really solid pool owner.
Lol I hardly have a beach Get 2 weeks in summer the rest it’s rented out Do get the whole off season so next week is the last renter Next weekend gonna clean the place, fix everything the savages broke or stole
Also have 3 individual water feature bodies, one of them in the house. Will take pics of those too if this job does not go too long.
So I did it again the other day. Actually managed to overfill the pool this time. I flooded the backyard of my neighbor down the hill in the process. Now I’ve got the world’s smallest submersible pump trying to get the water out. I got a good chunk out with my 5 gallon Home Depot bucket. Did I mention I’m going to be a terrific pool owner?
lechnerd it is too bad your Hayward equipment is not already installed. You could turn it on and that janky shit would start leaking and have your pool drained in no time haha.
Arkadin this thread is for people with adult pools, not the kiddie, above ground items you get from Wal-Mart. Move along.
This post and next post are a property I spent all morning at. Outdoor pool. Indoor spa room in the basement. This room is adjacent to their gym which is adjacent to their indoor virtual golf course thingy.
Hot tub Cold plunge with bano on the right. Shower because need to clean after activities. And yes, this is a residence and not a commercial property.
On my tombstone. He could beer with the best of them He could bbq with the best of them He truly was a pool snob
Next is him locking himself under his deck while the hose is running so he can do nothing but watch it overflow again.
Update: so my miniature submersible pump was a boss and drained half the pool in 2 days. Pool guy came by all inquisitive about the water in the pool. I told him I was religious about watering the gunite to help it cure like he recommended and also added a tidbit about a few pesky rain clouds that seemed to hover right over RRR the last few days. He seemed skeptical but still brought a crew out to pump. Yesterday they had some guys offload a bunch of flagstone which I thought was odd because we upgraded to travertine so the only flagstone should be a small amount on vertical surfaces. I brought it up yesterday and they said basically don’t worry about it they know what they’re doing. Fast forward to today and the masons are chipping away at the flagstone and placing it along the border where the coping will go. I was going to let them do the whole thing wrong in light of their attitude yesterday when I brought it up BUT I was feeling generous so I alerted them, again, they scrapped everything immediately and sent the crew home. Then the contractor calls me back and gives the world’s worst attempt to dissuade me from upgrading to travertine (which we’ve already agreed on and paid for) all because it would make his life easier if we did flagstone and smart decking. Reasons he gave: 1. Travertine comes all the way from Italy and can break (lol) 2. The travertine is on back order (I already told them I am ok with waiting) 3. Our bank likely won’t let us wait too long for the back order since we are using a bank loan to pay for the pool (we are paying in cash)
