Italian travertine was in stock down here when we remodeled our pool. You’ve been planning this forever, how did they not have it delivered yet?
I’ll tell you guys a funny story... I’m on my OB/Gyn rotation in residency and we get a call in the middle of the night about a lady who just came in having contractions so I head down to the Labor and Delivery triage area with my chief resident George, who has dark skin and is from Cairo, Egypt. The OB floor is notorious for bitchy nurses. They hate anyone not from their area and they ESPECIALLY hate men. We walk in and immediately split up as George goes to check up on another patient. I go to speak with my patient and immediately realize I’m going to need a translator. I find the nearest OB nurse and she is already looking at me like we just went through a divorce. Me: “Hello would you be able to translate Spanish for a patient?” Nurse: “I just saw you walk in with him. Don’t think I didn’t see!” <I look over at George confused> Nurse: “You guys can’t use us out of convenience when he speaks Spanish” Me: “ma’am he’s Egyptian” Nurse: “what room is the patient in?” One more since it’s almost Xmas... Back in residency at the county hospital we delivered babies left and right so I’m flying as fast I can from room to room in and out. I come into one room where mom has a baby that is very ready to come out and I say to her... Me: “Hi! Dr lechnerd!” nodding to the patient. Bitchy OB nurse replying with attitude: “She only speaks Spanish!” Me: “Hola! Dr. lechnerd!” Everyone laughed except for the nurse.
Read the thread. We audibled at the last second and switched from “smart decking” to travertine. By the time we switched it was on back order.
Im not sure I would let them get away with those shitty cuts at the steps and some of those gaps they have in the boarder tiles. Those are either really lazy or they don't actually know what theyre doing.
The term for “boarder tiles” in the pool buiness is referred to as coping. With regards to their spacing in between the coping tiles there will be mortar placed in between them. With regards to the cuts on the travertine on the steps I agree but I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and see how the finished product looks.
I did. And we changed our minds last minute and had to wait less than a week. Tile looks same as yours.
When can I expect my Hayward equipment to fail? Also, that pump skid has 3 times as many pipes as my welfare pool does.
It is not about when the pump fails as much as it is if anything can be done with it when it does fail. Hayward makes pumps with extra pieces in it that non of the other manufactures deem necessary. That is because they are not. A simple $150 seal replacement becomes a $250 seal replacement. A $500 motor swap becomes a $700 motor swap. This is unecessary as there are other manufactures that sell the equivalent or better pump with less parts that need to be replaced. They make a really good filter. Their heaters and computer automation systems are things that nightmares are made of for technicians.
Also I fell in the pool earlier this morning while skimming leaves out. Guess that was a matter of time.
Home of a former NFL player, 3 x Super Bowl Winner, 4 × 1st team All-Pro. Most modest pro athlete's property I work on. Beautiful pool, only mistake was putting an in-floor cleaning system in. That is just a washing machine for leaves whenever the lot is surrounded by pecan and live oak trees.
The pump on the right has the floor system and water feature combined, one valve on suction and 3 on return. The pump on the left is all pool/spa. 4 valves on suction; spa drain(for spa mode), pool drain, 2 x skimmer. 7 on return; spa return (spa mode), spa feature (for circulation in spa during pool mode, down jets (assists floor system but not necessary), fixed jets (assists floor system but not necessary), pool return, 2 x skimmer Venturi (ensures skimmer suction always has water but not necessary).
Gotta say, you really missed your chance to bump this when he slipped cleaning his pool last week and broke his ass bone.
That Cowboy player’s pool is too modest to be a skill position guy. Has to be a lineman. Someone like Mark Stepnoski, Leon Lett, Nate Newton.
