Question for you When Real Madrid had Ronaldo and all the talent and Barcelona had Messi and the crew, did every team play like this against both of yall?
It seems to me, not a professional watcher, every Madrid match this year, they just pack the box and Madrid does nothing for 70 minutes and than scores 2 goals late.
Oh. I figured you were talking more in terms of some sketchy play. But yes, this isn’t that uncommon as the bottom half of the table simply don’t have the players to do much of anything else. It’s a bit less effective against Madrid as they’ve always had a stout counter, whereas Barcelona typically insist on trying to short pass their way through it.
Yes, as soulfly mentioned a lot of mid and lower table teams are more than happy to sit all 11 players behind the ball and bunker for the entire match. The expectation is that they probably won’t get anything out of the match so theyre willing to just sit everyone deep in the hopes that they can keep it scoreless and steal a point.
disagree 100% but for the same reason. Those teams aren’t ever committing enough forward to ever get caught out. Barca’s general philosophy and style lend itself to breaking down deep blocks better.
Alaba reinjured himself. Again. Which means there will be 0 first team CBs available against Atletico this weekend to go along with the 0 first team RBs. as great as some of the additions have been the decisions to not reinforce some areas have been just as baffling
thats putting it unbelievably gently sounds like Rudiger's best case scenario will have him missing at least Atleti and the first leg against Man City
So dumb not to bring Taj to the Final 3 or Final 2. Nobody is going to vote for her since whose shes married to.
I’ll always love Vazquez for everything he’s done of the club and the manner in which he’s done it but dude just doesn’t have it any more. He’s never been a RB but filled in admirably over the years, unfortunately those years add up and he simply isn’t a first team quality player anymore. Yet he’s forced out there in huge matchups like this because the club is unflinchingly rigid in their transfer philosophy which is likely to cost them silverware this season
Had to listen in the truck running errands but got back for the final *checks notes* 3 goals. Congrats fellas.
thank you thank you this isnt a great Real squad and a lot of their wins this season feel somewhat undeserved but that was satisfying as hell
Injuries and what feels like the transition from the old guard to the new that’s been going on for several years coming to a head… not bad all told imo horrible Barca losses aside
Just had a chance to watch. Went from frustrating to well OK to come on to well OK to HOW WAS THAT NOT A FOUL to FUCK YES YOU ENGLISH TWATS Looking forward to next week.
should be 3 if Vini would pull his head out of his ass but once again the officiating is the headline a clear & obvious pen not given, a second possible pen not reviewed, the insane straight red to Bellingham for dissent? Just insane week after week
This is insanity. It makes no sense. There is no objective person that could watch this shit and not see it.
lol RMTV is gonna have a field day with this shit. The ball is clearly away and he had already missed wide. If he wants to call that then fine, but then the other 2 in the first half are both clear pen calls too.
I know there was talk of some insane 10-12 match ban possible because of “violent contact towards an official” so considering the way this shit has been going the last few months ill consider only 2 a significant victory
It took a little bit of time to gel (and find some balance and structure in the midfield) but he's simply too good for it not to work. He's the best player in the world when he's on.
so you almost have to play Fede at RB the rest of the way right? Or at least in the important & competitive matches? The way he's able to step in just about anywhere on the pitch and look almost world class is legit insane. Ceballos having a career season and finally building a bit of a rapport with Tchouameni definitely makes moving Valverde easier to swallow but man he's looked like a natural back there
Wasn’t able to watch yesterday but just watched the 12 minute version. I want to go to a match so bad.
as many others will attest its absolutely wild. The excitement/atmosphere/pageantry for many of the rivalries & derbies is off the charts and I would argue exceeds almost everything we have in American sports. Think '06 OSU/UM game where both were undefeated and ranked #1 & 2 levels of hype. It's great. And not that you need another reason but Madrid is an awesome city, Spain is an incredible country and basically all of the Iberian would be a perfect place to live. I havent been back in several years but its on the agenda for '25. I think closeted super fan GoodForAnother has been to the new Bernabeu
the bernabeu is amazing if you have flown your wife there for Taylor swift and learn quickly that there are very few men which means beer and men’s bathroom lines are nonexistent
