shocking that Mbappe comes on and they look like a completely different squad because of the transfer saga and now being the face of the club he's going to take a ton of the blame for this season being a failure but he's been one of the VERY few consistent bright spots this year
and now his deal with the Brazilian FA is in serious jeopardy of falling apart and now maybe he's considering the Saudi league? Everything around the club is a circus at the moment.
I still maintain they'd be better off buying an actual defender and playing him as a deep lying midfielder instead but either way this is nice to see happening because reinforcements are badly needed along the backline
fielding this backline during a Clasico is the stuff of nightmares hopefully this jolts the board in to action and they make a move for another CB this summer because my fucking god this is grim
this is all so predictable. These are professional defenders, this isn’t a professional backline. do whatever it takes to get a world class center back
season has been a failure for a while now but hopefully the last 2-3 weeks shake Perez & Co out of this insane mentality that they can slowly add 1 piece at a time on a free and not have to spend real money to maintain a world class roster
Yep it’s time for a total overhaul of that back line. Also not having Kroos showed up each and every match. What a legend.
sadly the awful ending to this season is going to sour and overshadow Modric’s goodbye in a couple of weeks as anger and apathy sets in
also Rodrygo remaining on the bench while an 18 year old academy nobody gets those minutes (and A+ scoring chance) is incredibly telling. No idea what Xabi’s plans are or who he’s going to count on but if there is a shift away from 3 up front Rodrygo may very well be on the block this summer.
Carlo officially moving on to manage Brazil at the end of the month. Hopefully they do the right thing and honor him with a huge send off. Same with Luka. Xabi to be announced shortly after and sounds like he’ll coach the team at the CWC in June
one of the all time great academy/club players. Dude did everything asked of him and more and never once complained despite being unfairly played out of position for like the last half of his career. Will be sad to see him go but unfortunately he’s no longer anywhere close to the level necessary to even be a reserve player off the bench. Hope he’s given a big send off as well
Yeah truly did it all. I really liked him but it was certainly time to move on. Sunday he was all out of sorts which seems to be the norm with his age and playing out of position.
Huijsen signing already complete and officially announced. SugarShaun already hailing it is the signing of the summer.
Saturday is officially the last match for Modric and Vazquez. Will be sad to see these two walking away but it’s certainly time. Both absolute club legends (even if for slightly different reasons) and hope they get a massive send off and celebration.
I would say a nice start to the summer window. nexus what are thinking/hearing are the moves that are made?
so far so good imo. Obviously the headliner is TAA who hasn’t been formally announced yet but even despite his defensive short comings he’s a world class player and fills an on ball need thats been glaring since Kroos retired. My guess is that if Xabi sticks with the 4-3-3 he’ll play Fede on the right to help solidify that side and cover for Trent. The board must think highly of Huijsen to pay a €50M buyout for a 19 year old kid after balking at paying more than €25M for Yoro last summer but I admittedly don’t know much about him other than he’s long and tall and already advanced at progressing the ball. Sounds like Carreras is next and should hopefully get finished and announced in the next week. I’ve seen him play a handful of times and at 22 seems like he’s just starting to scratch the surface of his potential. Not sure if he’ll be expected to step in and start over Mendy (assuming he’s even still on the roster) or if he’s one for the future and will replace/take Garcia’s minutes but there clearly needs to be an upgrade and influx of talent at both fullback spots so this is a good start. There’s some talk that they might add another midfielder too but there doesn’t seem to be anything definitive yet. Angelo Stiller from Stuttgart is a popular name being tossed around but no movement on anything as of yet. it’s nice to see the club move quickly and efficiently in getting these deals done instead of dragging things out for the entire summer
sounds like they paid a little something to Liverpool to release him a month early so he can play in the CWC
nexus saw you posted this in the transfer thread. I really like this move a lot…good business being done thus far. What else are you seeing out there?!?
Would absolutely love this move and hope they get it finished quickly because he has world class talent and potential. I saw someone describe his potential as “Pogba if he gave a fuck”. He doesn’t even turn 18 until later this summer and obviously has a ton of work ahead of him to fully develop but a lot of the guys that write and scout South American prospects seem to think he’s very capable of being one of the elite midfielders in the game in 5-6 years. Maybe one of the guys that follows the SA game more closely like El_Pato can add more? The only other name I’ve really seen mentioned as a possible MF addition is Angelo Stiller from Stuttgart but there hasn’t been any sort of formal movement other than Cortegana saying that they’ve been “monitoring” him. Ceballos and Arda’s situations may have an impact on whether or not they choose to add to the midfield this summer. The only transfer in the works seems to be Carreras and it sounds like they’ve been negotiating with Benfica since earlier this week.
Masta is a beast, plays more as a RW or a 10 really. Great dribbler, great at shooting, great at almost everything really. Doesn't turn 18 until August, but reports are that River will keep him until December, like the Echeverri deal to City. Has the potential to be a top 5 player in the world. Hate that he's going to you guys, but I hope he reaches his potential because he is fun to watch
Xabi era kicks off in like 10 min. Trent and Huijsen both starting in what looks like a back 4. Excited to see what if any formation changes we might get a peak at
incredibly soft call that would have been reviewed by var if in a real competition but Asensio can't give the ball away and then grab like that, even if it was a dive
