Yeah that's lame. Don't think I'll buy more, as they don't appear to resell at much profit either. I did get some nice cards in them though, including Jasson Dominguez
What new baseball prods are being released the next few weeks? I feel like I need more auto sets to obsess over and get pissed about not being able to complete.
Topps series 2 is supposed to come out end of month. Has any one heard if its still coming out and a potential checklist or list of rookies? If Mize and/or Manning are in it I would be pumped, but I dont know what they are going to do with no season up to this point for rookies to add
So torn on what to do because most my purchases have been great short term investment and market is hot and I held out for deals. Do I make some quick money or hold on to these cards for potential future value. For example I bought a PSA 10 bowman 1st Acuna for $129 few months ago, they are selling for over $200 now and one auction went over $300 (dont know why that one went so high) I bought a PSA 10 young guns Larkin for $29, one just sold in auction for $67. I paid $27 for a psa 10 young guns Mantha, last 3 sold for $73-74. I bought a PSA 10 Mize auto for $170, last 2 went for $202 and $215. I bought a PSA 10 Manning auto for $50. One sold at auction today for $109 Luckily most of those i got for my personal collection so ill probably hold onto, Acuna was only one i bought for strictly investment purposes but i think that one could keep going up. But these prices are nuts
Also finally caved and bought a Greene auto, still think its a bad investment, but im collecting Tigers Bowman 1st autos and found one that sold for less than anything I've seen since March and card looks like it would grade well so I caved.
Google has been paying attention to my search habits again. I had a random story pop up on my interests this morning and it said that PSA is hiking the fee on grading cards between the years of 2017-2020 because they are creating a huge backlog at the company.
It's only a few hundred bucks you'd make. It seems like you really like the cards and I'm too lazy to deal with selling/shipping stuff. If I had them, i'd personally hold onto them vs. selling and hoping to buy back later.
That's very interesting because I just sent in a Value Modern Bulk Order last week and it was still $9/card. Now it's $12/card (minimum 100 cards) and $15/card (min. 50). Good thing I got that order sent off before the price increase. Saved me hundreds of dollars. I remember the good ole days when it was $5/card
They've been heat so far this year from everything I've seen. Probably a good chance you'll make your money back
How does everyone store their valuable cards? Now that I have a few cards worth over $100+ each, the card box doesn't feel like a safe and secure place. Thinking of getting something water and fireproof for my top end cards. Debating between just a normal home safe I can use with my other valuable or getting something like this https://www.kardkases.com/product/fireproof-card-storage-box-display-case-graded/
I'm in the process of trying to decide on what kind of safe I want to use. That card case is really cool but I just don't really see myself traveling anywhere with my valuable cards.
Can someone with more experience explain to me Bowman 1st on cards. Because I'm trying to collect Tigers 1st round picks and top prospects Bowman 1st signed cards. Mize was first one i got with his 2018 bowman draft chrome card. Randomly on ebay today I came across an auto of his from 2019 Bowman mega box that also has 1st bowman stamp on it. How can a 1st bowman stamp be on a 2019 card when he had a 2018 card? I did some looking into it, and Riley Greene has his 1st Bowman auto in 2019 Bowman Draft, and his 2020 Bowman mega box rightly does not have a 1st bowman stamp on it. I also decided to look at other players in same 2 sets. Nick Madrigal is also 1st bowman in 2018 bowman draft, just like mize. His 2019 mega box card DOES NOT have a 1st bowman stamp on it. Does anyone know how Mize ended up with two products in two years with 1st stamp on it?
I’ve heard some players will get a 1st in Bowman draft and then in bowman. Think I saw Glenallen Hill Jr has two
To further the point how crazy prospect autos are now. I am completing my collection of Tigers 1st Rd Picks 1st Bowman (and autos if they had them in that set) and the Riley Greene Bowman first auto is going to cost about the same as a Verlander Bowman first auto.
NBA is, and has been, the strongest in terms of hobby because of the global reach basketball has vs. football and baseball. That'll never change. It also seems like a lot more NBA players hold hobby as opposed to NFL and MLB. In terms of an "investment" NBA vs. MLB/NFL - It is much safer to put money into a young player (like Morant) who has competed and had success at a young age against the best of the NBA vs. buying a baseball prospect who had success in HS or College. And unless you're buying a QB, don't even bother buying NFL stuff for upside.
NFL stuff seems pretty down which surprises me a little. Every time I run to the store the baseball and basketball cards are always sold out and the store is stocked with football. Even a year or two old products you know have been sitting there that long
You want to know why NBA is never on the shelf? Because people know when the person is stocking it comes and are buying them all. My friend just so happened to be at Meijer today shopping and saw a lady stocking the card shelves with 2 guys standing there. He started talking to them and was told they have a "team" that knows the stocking person schedule and literally the basketball cards are going straight from the stocker into their carts because they are waiting for her.
My friend said one of the guys told him that target started limiting them to 4 boxes each so he has his family come meet him so he can buy more. Its so shitty
This is what is killing the hobby for kids. It is so cutthroat now and $20 blasters can go for $100+ so people have lost their damn minds when it comes to scouring Target/Wal Mart. The only way to combat adults camping out to resell blasters is to raise the price on them - which also hurts the potential for kids to collect.
He said the stocking lady talked to him after and told him guys ask for her number so they can text her about her exact time she will be at stores and that its pretty creepy. Guys are basically waiting for her at every store because they've figured out her route. She said some even offer her money for info on what she will deliver and when.
I sold a card on ebay Thursday, shipped it same day. My mailman did not scan it when he picked it up and it still has not been scanned. But that happens a lot both buying and selling ive noticed lately sometimes it is 4-5 days before a scan shows up. Anyway, the buyer of the card is the biggest asshole ever. Multiple messages every day asking if its sent and why hasn't the tracker updated and I give him same response. I even contacted post office today and they said they'd look into. But in 4 days I've gotten 10 or more messages from him and every one he calls me lazy and I should have made my postman scan it and he's called me all sorts of other names and I've been pretty respectful in response. He sends me another message today, I tell him I spoke to the postman and he told me their system is a little messed up and he would get his supervisor on it. The buyer responded my story didn't make sense and I need to stop blaming the post office and that I'm the worst seller ever and he is giving me a negative review and is opening a claim on ebay for non delivery of his item. Keep in mind its been 3 business days since the purchase... What a fucking hassle, at this point I hope it gets lost in the mail so that fucker doesn't get it.
Did you guys see this? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cb...aluable-baseball-memorabilia-in-uncles-attic/ For generations, a treasure was kept inside the attic of a Northern New Jersey home. It was compiled by James Michioni, known to family as "Uncle Jimmy." Jeannie Michioni-Griffith and Peter Michioni are two of Uncle Jimmy's seven nieces and nephews. When the 97-year-old World War II veteran died in March, they discovered what until now had only been a family legend. "We thought it was a special collection, and he always told us: 'The attic is where all the good stuff is,'" Michioni said of his late uncle. 'The good stuff' turned out to include six Babe Ruth baseball cards from the 1930s, in pristine condition and autographed by the Great Bambino himself. The Babe Ruth cards headline Jimmy's vast collection of baseball cards and memorabilia dating back nearly 90 years. The collection also includes cards from greats like Lou Gehrig, Hank Aaron, Pete Rose and Jackie Robinson, all meticulously organized.
This is why I have 75+ people on my block list. If someone acts like that (or doesn't pay) they go straight to the block list. Somehow people can't comprehend that USPS is very overwhelmed right now and there are extreme delays that happen sometimes.
Also I ordered a bunch of cards last Thursday, a lot of them cheap with standard shipping. Basically everyone sent via standard shipping has shown up and everyone that included 1st class and tracking is still days away from getting here. Crazy how thats working right now
Pretty pumped, my mom is bringing all of my cards to my new house next weekend. I also got several packs of un-opened cards that were my father-in-laws from the 80's that my brother-in-law didn't want. Do I open them or nah? There is also an ARod Upper Deck rookie card that looks fancy. Beckett still have the values of cards? And there's also an enormous antique mart here with several card/memorabilia vendors. I plan on doing some serious damage there soon.
Searching sold prices on ebay is a lot better than looking on beckett. Some prices have doubled just in past few months.
Depends on which year those 80s packs are and the rookie cards in that year. Some unopened packs can sell for a lot, if it's the year of big rookies. Like a ripken or Henderson. Otherwise probably just have fun and open them.
