Have to check prices on ebay. Most modern cards sell similar 9 v ungraded. Older cards a 9 is still going to add value. And thats a psa 9. My 03 LeBron rookie would sell about $300 more a 9 v ungraded.

Really look at the prices on ebay. Back to the beckett v psa stuff. A beckett 10 will sell the most, but there has to be absolutely nothing wrong with the card to get a beckett 10. Its almost impossible to get. Like I posted earlier their 9.5 is equivalent to a PSA 10. Psa 10 sells a decent amount more than beckett, and their 9s usually sell more too.

I dunno, seems like you're answering your own question then. If that's the case send it to PSA and wait :idk:

To me, if you think the card is in gem mint condition, I'd send it to BGS as I think the black slabs are cool, and rare enough to take the chance. If you don't get it you can always crack the case and send it to PSA?

I have been buying raw cards and just paying for 5 day bgs service to get them back quick and flipping the ones I don’t want long term. Been pretty successful so far

The card I was wondering about is a 05-06 topps chrome ray allen refractor. Definitely don’t think it’s worth it.

I have a friend in the Dallas area that I will just send my cards to and he takes them direct to BGS. Trying to build up a decent batch to send in, think I may send some of my Witt Jr chromes + the Paulino refractor auto

Some people like having their cards slabbed, but im not sure a non rookie ray allen card you'd add much value by getting a psa 9 on it.

Do any of you guys follow the hobby on twitter? It's a fucking mad world out there and it never doesn't amaze me how some people act about sports cards.

I really want to submit cards but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have two LeBron rookies I want to send in, one his topps collection which as I've mentioned has gone from a $250 card to a $650 card in recent months and sells for about $1000 as a 9. Other is a mvp rookie. Have a Duncan metal universe rookie I want to send in too, and some Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger, Barry Sanders and maybe Larry Fitzgerald topps rookies. I have other cards i want to have someone who knows get a better look at, like a couple Kobe rookies.

My plan is cards im not immediately going to flip, if they are prospects, hold off on grading until they make it. Keep them secured and send it in once they are good so I dont waste grading fees on a card that could be worthless if the prospect flames out. I really need to start selling more though. I tend to want to keep everything. I've only really been selling stuff I dont care about keeping in my personal collection and whose value i think has absolutely peaked already.

I also have a few autograph hand signed cards id like to get verified and slabbed. I have zetterberg and datsyuk hand signed young guns. Zetterberg young guns card sells $200+ and datsyuk $100+ so id like them slabbed with auto verified

Guys like Witt and Jasson are a gamble now. I see a Witt Jr chrome sold psa 10 for $76. Jasson for $226.

If they flame out those cards arent going to be worth much. But comparable Acuna card is selling for $300+ now. That Jasson price is crazy high still but if he pans out that card could still potentially go up. I think i should send a Jasson chrome in and sell one to capitalize now. I have two chromes, a paper and a mojo

I'm much more bothered by the stupid prices/demand for Jasson compared to Witt. Despite the age, I feel like baseball folks have at least seen Witt.

And hell, if everyone is caught up in the moment, Witt is apparently having a very good camp for the Royals so far...

I have a decently centered Witt mojo. I'm for sure holding on to my Witt stuff because potential value of it to me is worth holding v selling now at current prices.

And Jasson plays for Yankees, so built in inflation.

I get that, but just because he's in the Yankees minor league system doesn't mean shit in terms of talent/ability....value should be based mostly on talent

Jasson is a 5 tool guy and #1 international prospect signing so talent wise i think he is a real good prospect. He is also only 17 and hasn't played an inning over here so I too think his prices are too high. But everyone trying to invest early in next Trout. Forget Witt, because he is a prospect too, what really amazes me is how close Jasson stuff sells to Acuna stuff. Acuna is only 22 and already has a 40 hr 37 sb season in mlb

My wife actually just called me and told me about something that just happened to her.
She needed a hair tie so she stopped into target. While strolling by Xl Magnum condom section for me she looked at the card section. A target lady came up and asked what she was looking for , and she told her bowman. Target employee told her she'd have to talk to the lady behind customer service because that's where they keep it. My wife goes up there and the girl said they have to keep desirable cards behind the counter due to the amount of fist fights when being stocked. She also said she had her life threatened because she only allowed one man to purchase 5 mega boxes. Also said almost every employ has been offered $100-200 to hold boxes for them. Certain people in this community really ruin it.

I posted part of the story already, but I have a friend who happened to be at Meijer one day when it was being stocked and the cards weren't even hitting the shelf because the stocker was basically putting it right into the carts of multiple guys there who were waiting. My friend went back the next week to try and get a box of basketball cards and same guys were all there. He said they told him they have teams of people that stake out every meijer in the area because they know the stock persons schedule. It's basically impossible to get good shit at stores unless you are extremely lucky. I lucked into mega boxes last week because I think I got there shortly after they were stocked and they had a lady monitoring it to enforce limits of buying it. However someone still got around it and entire stock was sold out in an hour.

I love Bowman cards, but I am not going to pay double retail prices or spend hours a week tracking it down. I've been lucky enough to get about $160 worth of it retail between seeing original release in stores once and mega box once. Hit pretty well in those $160, mojo Jasson, two chrome Jasson, paper Jasson, mojo, chrome and multiple paper Witt, multiple autos (nothing great) and a gold /50 card. Hit some other decent things as well. I guess I should be happy I got so much from only finding them in store twice.

The first month Bowman came out, I got lucky one day at Target to be there when the employee restocking was. There also happened to be 2 others waiting, and I walk up and see no Mosaic or Bowman in the box, and one of the two waiting ask me what I was looking for, said Bowman, and he reaches into the box that's in his cart, full of both, and reluctantly shared some with me.

I get that it's a dog eat dog world, but knowing the delivery schedule/route is just too much to me. It also pissed me off saying that he was only out hunting for them to help his family member who runs a LCS in another state.....

Unfortunately the people stocking the shelves with cards in most cases dont work for the store. Its a 3rd party that stocks them, so they are stocking multiple stores in area on the same day. These guys follow them from store to store too so they know their route. It's nuts.

Also the new thing thats getting ridiculously priced is online box breaks. Its part of the reason that people are buying up all these boxes. I bought into a couple before for fun, but I need a Puason bowman, I only have paper for him. Thought about buying into an Oakland break for fun to see maybe i get lucky and hit a color of his. A 10 mega box oakland break sold for $50.

A Puason mojo refractor card sells for about $10, purple (/250) sells for $20-25, hell a gold (/50) sold for $69 today.

Odds of pulling his auto from a mega box is ridiculously low. I dont get what people are expecting

PSA >>>>>> BGS every day of the week. BGS sub-grades leads to cards being 'fake gems'. All you need to know is a Zion Prizm Silver BGS 9.5 sells for $1,500-2,000. A PSA 10 sells for double that. Personally, I'm snapping out all my BGS 9s (and some fake 9.5s) and resubmitting them to PSA in hopes of getting a 9. If you want to add value to a card, go with PSA.

BGS Pristine and Black Labels are a scam and they only started doing those so that they could try and one-up PSA. And don't even get me started on BGS Raw Card Reviews.

So cool/wild story. Decided to go to the LCS today after work and meet a buddy.

Walk in and a guy is just wrapping up opening a case of National treasures. He pulled the Ja logo
    upload_2020-7-15_18-41-15.jpeg

He then decided to get some of the new Obsidian, not sure how many. He pulled a Zion auto /75. Proceeds to tell shop owner to give me, buddy, and another guy that was hanging out a box of Obsidian. Pulled a DRuss auto /5, PBev auto /50, and a Rui Hachimura to /75.

I’m a lucky son of a bitch but it was also nice to see there’s some good folks out there in the hobby.

While we were hanging out in the shop someone called and offered $150k and the shop owner said he wasn’t close lol

Wow, the card market just blows my mind. This guy has played 2/3 of a season and a card of his with his signature and the nba logo could go for $400k. Imagine spending that and ja just ends up being a mid tier nba guy for 8-10 seasons.

I totally agree, for that type of card he better be top 3 ever in a sport. I was uncomfortable buying a couple Topps 2028 update packs for $50, but luckily I pulled an Acuna RC out of each.

What do you guys put down for value on psa submissions? It tells you to do a realistic value of your cards graded value. Hard to tell what that is before knowing the grade.

Because my LeBron card im expecting a 9 but hoping for a 10 and praying not a 8. Psa 9 sell for basically $1000. Now that's $50 submission to psa for up to $999 and $75 $1000 and over. However a psa 10 sells for over $4k. That's in the $200 per card tier.

If i put declared value at $999, im worried they think im only expecting a 9, killing my shot at 10. But if I pay $200 and get anything other than a 10, I've wasted a lot of money. I'm not going to pay $200 to get a card graded, but I'd also hate to shoot myself in the foot sending it in with 9 value if it increases my chances of getting a 9

Good Lord. Wow. I'd honestly be insulted at the $150k offer. Hell, the regular RPA /99 fetches $20-25k. I follow the basketball market closely and logomans are the holy grail among collectors. I think the shop owner's 4-500k estimate is pretty accurate. Thanks for sharing. You know you have a problem collecting when I got giddy just seeing that card lol.

You are to put down what the card is worth raw. For that card, an 8 is an average grade so write down what an 8 sells for. Always, always try to sneak cards into lower tiers. It is cheaper and the caliber of grader is likely more lenient.

Im glad you told me because it'll save me some money haha. Take it you haven't been dissatisfied with your grades. That was my worry going low on value that they would grade lower as a result.

    https://www.psacard.com/resources/faq

Q: How much do I pay, and what is a Declared Value?
A: Once you are prepared to fill out a submission form, you will need to select a Service Level, which is determined by your Declared Value. The Declared Value is your estimate of the value of the item after it has been assigned a grade by PSA. We understand you will not know the true value of the item until it has been graded, so we ask that you form a realistic, educated estimate based on your own research, keeping in mind that the Declared Value acts as a maximum value for shipping insurance purposes and in the event of a claim related to the item.

My brother and I hold the theory that the higher up you get in price levels the more stingy the grader gets. With the influx of orders, they've had to hire a lot of new workers which means they're probably handling the bulk orders. The more veteran, experienced graders are doing the higher level cards and they are pretty sharp (read: stingier). So if you've got a card that sells for $550, declare the value at $480 and get it in the lower level. You'll have to wait longer to get it back but you save money and potentially get an easier grader in the process. Worst case, they tell you it is in the wrong level, it still gets graded by a lower level grader, and you just pay the difference in price levels.

I had a nice eBay find today. A guy must have bought a Luis Robert collection and it got damaged in mail so he is selling them all off now deeply discounted.

Got both the 5x7 Topps SP and SSP numbered to 10 Luis Robert rookies for $30 each. Also bought the /49 version of both for $15 each. The /49 versions have been selling for $70 each and /10 one went for $130. And the "dinged corner" is hardly noticeable on 3/4 and wouldn't have even noticed if he didn't draw attention to it. He had a couple more for sale with very obvious dings, but ones I got were minimal.

If Robert pans out that has huge potential value. The /49 Acuna sell around $350 now. Haven't seen the /10 ones recently

Man I run into the worst people on eBay somehow.

I bought into a bowman break two nights ago advertised for tonight. Relatively cheap so figured why not for entertainment. eBay seller had 100% feedback so I didn't think it would be an issue. I log on tonight, and see the break was done yesterday (not today as listing said) and the uploaded video isn't live, it's him with a stack of already opened cards showing what was in the packs.

I requested a refund on eBay because (1) the break wasn't even the date and time advertised and (2) it wasn't a live break as advertised.

Seller responded admitting he had wrong date and time in description and that they had IT issues so he couldn't post the full video. But then he accused me of trying to scam him because I didn't like the cards in my break and threatened to report me to eBay and blast my name all over FB groups as a eBay scammer.
