Id probably be down
I'd be down to throw in on a case if there's enough interest.
Also, DetroitNole - I found a purple Torkelson auto on facebook for $175. Not able to share the post but let me know if that's something you're interested in
I'd want to see a checklist. I'm sure I'll probably buy a couple blasters for fun if I find them, but every single player the Tigers drafted this year was in Bowman Draft so I think it'll be a weak checklist for Tigers so ill probably not spend much
Purple torkelson bowman draft auto? Those sell on eBay over $1000. That sounds like a scam
Also for any one who likes being organized. This site is amazing. I've started uploading my cards on here. Can track your cards, track prices and easily look up your collection by set, player, team, etc.
Its cut off but it doesn't look like the purple is signed
I'm a fucking moron. That's what I get for posting without actually reading/looking fully.
thought this was pretty cool. 1965 topps. entire set is graded 7 or better
I wonder who the lucky person is that I'll pass my 1991 score set on to...
That is awesome
Having a son really got me back into card collecting knowing I'd have someone to give it to. Now watch him not like sports.
Think the bowman autos and young guns of wings is fun thing to keep up with every year. I debated doing psa 10 of the bowman autos (already have Mize, Manning as psa 10) but the thought of a torkelson or Greene psa 10 has me not wanting to, as well as thought of paying $20+ to send in worthless cards to grade hoping for a 10
The last 4 Riley Greene blue autos on ebay sold for $500, $695, $738 and $799.
Saw one on ebay go up for $315 that had a manufacturer mark on it according to listing but I dont see it in picture so it must be minor (attached photo from listing). I grabbed it for my PC, I can flip the base one I have for about $200 now and thats a nice upgrade for my wall. Has some nice upside too if he pans out. Or may just immediately list it and flip if the mark is visible in person and make a little money because I think I can easily get more than that.
Normal brain, if you're looking for a bowman draft sapphire for PC and not to grade, here's one at a decent price it seems.
I sold a lindor psa 10 last week for $80. Selling for like $200 now. Insane
Yea timing is everything. Want to sell when card is released or something is putting them in the news. Arozarena chrome auto is an example. That card sold for $4 when I pulled it from a pack. Decided not worth selling a chrome rookie auto for that cheap so I held it, it peaked in $200s during playoffs, I should have sold then but decided to hold off and grade it potentially and we were in the process of moving and I didn't want to drive 3 hours to a storage locker where I had my cards at at the time during the move. Its back down to like a $100 card. Probably should have just cashed out during playoffs
Agreed , I was just selling a couple psa things I had bought previously
Id say sell everything you can right now if the prices are high, this won’t last and you can probably get the same card back in a year or so for half price of what you sell for. I mean hell I saw guys buying the Washington football team QBs rookie card for hundreds of dollars the other day. I’d say there is a .09 percent chance he turns into anything and that card will babe back to $2 in a years time.
Yea depends on the card and the player but the market has gone nuts in a lot of areas. I dont collect basketball but I casually follow the Pistons and Jerami Grant is off to a good start so I decided to see what his rookie cards were going for. $52 for his base prizm rookie. Nuts. I'm going to start listing stuff when a guy gets hot who I believe has little chance of staying a top level player
Speaking of nuts, Torkelson is about the only player I've seen whose stuff has gone for more money the further we get away from release. His base rookie auto consistently sold for $400 or so in the immediate days after release. Gradually went up to $450-500. Last one on ebay just sold for $635. $635 for a base auto of a guy who has never played even a minor league game. Its crazy
One of the cards I sent in August finally came back
What service level? I have a 20 day group submission from august still in the grading stage
I wish I spent a little more when I first got back into card collecting last year to flip now. Most the stuff I bought back then is doing really well. My very first purchase was a psa 10 acuna bowman 1st Chrome for $125. One sold today for $360. My friend who i got into it with me got way more involved than me, and he is now making a killing flipping all his Tatis, Ja Morant, and so on cards he bought last year.
Hope there aren't any running backs in that order because they might be retired by the time it gets back lol
Definitely not, nothing modern. Newest card is from 2006.
Just for shits and giggles here is the list
2x 2004 Lebron topps 2nd year
4x 2006 Lebron finest base
2006 finest Kobe retractor
2006 Kyle Lowry rookie auto
2006 Kyle Lowry blue refractor
2001 tiger woods upper deck rookie
2004 fleer tradition Lebron base
Some MJ/LB upper deck insert
Lou Williams black topps chrome rookie refractor
Kobe encore rookie
nothing of crazy value
I have mentioned my ongoing damage review with PSA in this thread before on this card. They sent it back as a 10. I noticed there was a plastic shard inside the case and the surface appeared damaged. I sent it back and they deemed it was damaged and is now a 5. 2 months after they called to see what I thought was a fair resolution (find the same card and send it to me), I got a call last night that their offer was the Declared Value amount from my original submission in December 2019 - $900.
I just laughed and said no fucking chance. Of course they made the new Customer Service rep who has been there for two months tell me that they messed up this card worth thousands and they're going to offer me $900.
The worst part is that there is nothing I can do. I have no course of action but to just take what they give me because they currently have thousands of my cards and I don't want to jeopardize anything with those. It's a shitty feeling.
Damn that is fucking shitty
Caved and got a box of bowman sapphire for $195. First time I've ever bought sapphire and the cards are very nice. I didnt pull a Torkelson but I think I easily made my money back. Oddly both my hits were the same player. I pulled the green /50 and purple /10 of Milan Tolentino. One of the greens sold on ebay at $99 obo so im not sure what it actually sold at and no purple sold yet, but I think between those two I should get a nice chunk of that $195 back.
Of the base, I pulled Kjerstad, Veen, Mitchell, Nick York, Alika Williams and Reid Detmers among others
It sold for $99.99. If a best offer was accepted the $99.99 would have a cross through it. Also you can look up best offer sell prices if you’re ever curious.
My Terapeak is showing it sold for $18
Ended up going with the prizm draft. Pulled these out of the box. Flipped a couple of the autos that werent big players, but im going to sell the remaining due to the NBA Hoops box coming out in a couple weeks
Did a break yesterday and ended up getting this. Most likely sending it in to get graded
That's a very nice pull
So a break is basically gambling on someone else opening a pack of cards and you get a certain pick at which card you want? Are these packs full of good cards or could you get screwed with some super common worthless card? Never heard of this and just did some light googling.
Usually you either buy into a box or it's a communal box(es) and you buy a team. Any card that gets pulled from the team you bought goes to you.
Basically it's an alternative to buying cards. You buy into a spot in a break(player/team/division/etc), and whatever cards get pulled for that spot, get sent to you. So Cluch got a Pirates spot in a break, and that was pulled. hobby box, muliple box, cases, and multiple cases. There's one breaker who does 100+ case player breaks
Yes it's essentially a gamble, but most of sports cards can be described that way too
got it. how do these guys get these boxes instead of one of us just buying them? connections?
Some of them are card shops that also do breaks(I believe this is what Real Breaks is/does). A lot are individuals that have been doing it for years and have connections/buy in the secondary market.
Only one I can speak on is houdini who breaks on youtube via blowoutforums. He buys all his stuff via blowout, who buy direct from the manufacturers or from the direct vendors, I believe.
Being able to plunk down thousands of dollars at a time for bulk orders.
Yeah so I did a break with Buck City Breaks on YouTube. Single jumbo hobby box. $60 per division. Got NL Central after the randomizer. You could be screwed if you don't get anything, but I was fortunate to get that
What soulfly said. Basically they pay thousands for bulk orders, sell either team spots, random spots, or division spots, then they open the box and get whatever was assigned to you
Know its hard to tell from a picture, but am I missing something obvious here?
I bought a blue Riley Greene auto that was almost half off on ebay because the description claimed it had a print line on the front. It came today and i literally don't see a print line anywhere. It almost looks good enough to me to grade but im terrified to send it in because the listing claimed a print line and think I'm missing something obvious. Anyone see a print line in this picture?
That Haliburton will go for a pretty penny although I absolutely loathe sticker autos.
There are a few live breaks on twitch twitch.tv/dacwlive, which is the channel for Dave and Adam's Card World, one of the biggest sports card retailers in the US.
Sold for $175. Recent sold on ebay were around $140. Can't complain at all
