You might also just see heavily juiced games, like -115 or -120 lines, terrible payout parlay cards, etc. It's probably also worth pointing out that even though the Vegas sportsbooks routinely complain about low margins, the offshore books manage to make a killing despite most offering some combination of -105 lines, offering substantial deposit bonuses and paying payment processors. The idea that a book can't make a substantial amount of money dealing -110 lines on shore is absurd. The theoretical hold on -110 lines is 4.55% per dollar wagered compared with just 2.38% for -105 lines. From what I've seen, most of the Vegas books aren't a patch on the likes of Pinnacle, Bookmaker or BetOnline as far as actually running a book goes. Even 5Dimes would put them to shame.
Online deposit bonuses are BS. If you actually reading wording sometimes you have to make 10x the deposit bonus just to cash out. You’re better off declining the deposit bonus in most cases
West Virginia passed sports gambling this last legislative session. Allows sports gambling at the five casinos and through an app while physically present in the state. Pennsylvania has already passed sports gambling, but the license fee and taxes are much higher. https://www.wvgazettemail.com/news/...cle_7031ea50-46e7-5516-8726-3701ce083e20.html
I don't see that as much of an issue at most books, at least personally. It's the books that have 18x rollover, including the deposit and the freeplay/bonus in that rollover base amount, that cut your limits shortly after depositing and still make you meet the rollover. Looking at you Betmania/Skybook. But for the likes of Bookmaker, BOL/Sportsbetting, 5Dimes, etc. they won't cut you that quick or drastically.
Just saw that NJ wont allow you to bet on games taking place within the state. There goes me taking tOSU giving only -63.5 in Piscataway.
Bet with your head, not your heart bro. Won an easy $20 off a guy who works for RU downtown last year when I told him I'd give him 50 points. He was so convinced Rutgers would score at least 14 in garbage time.
380 billion is like 4 times the highest estimates ive seen for all gambling totals and not all bookies are mafia. exaggerating ass mofos
they measure the number really stupidly. if you bet 110 to win 100 on two bets, win one and lose one, so you lose $10, they count that as $220 wagered. i probably wagered $300k last year and lost 20ish. but instead of hearing about the 20 i lost, you hear about the cumulative bets.
I seriously doubt this. They may take a hit from their "retail" customers. Thats the guy who gets the tickets from a guy who knows a guy whose cousin Giuseppe knows a guy, but the core of their business will be safe because there's no taxes. Folks in those circles aren't fond of paying taxes on anything.
Team Stu. This law repeal is for us degenerates. Not some $10 here and there by-the-book weekend bettor. My man Stu has $500 ridin on a wnba game. That's the spirit I'm talking about!
So if the Jets play the Giants does that mean you can't bet the home team but can bet the visiting team?
i've only ever heard sportsbook people talk about things in terms of handle. obviously they keep track of revenue as well. you have some strong takes about kind of trivial stuff, like whether tesla will make 5,000 cars this year or whatever
Law enforcement uses the total wagered for every press release and media report. That’s why you see insane figures reported about “gambling rings” or whatever when the reality is they actually earn about 10% of the total.
for example: http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2013/08/15/five-billion-dollar-gambling-ring-busted-in-north-texas/ i know a few of the people involved in this.
I never knew this shit occurred. I knew of rings and shit but not that the police take a cut. That’s absurd to give some old fuckers probation. To date, the U.S. Government has collected more than $10 million from the gambling ring’s illegal profits. Nearly $5 million was presented to the Plano police for the department’s role in the investigation.
this is correct. these new laws may change the way the next generation of gamblers enter the market, but at least for the next several years regular gamblers who grew up placing bets through their bookie will continue to do so. Why would they switch? Every local bookie in 2018 has state-of-the-art website and/or smartphone app that will have a more exotic spread of bets available because the web hosts are offshore. I used to have a website where I could place bets on fucking high school football games in Mobile, Alabama. They also let you know play on credit and you don't have to pay taxes or let uncle sam track your betting history.
Mississippi approved sports gambling regulations today. They go into effect in 30 days. https://www.clarionledger.com/story...-sports-betting-what-you-need-know/718650002/ Full text of the regulations: https://docs.google.com/viewerng/vi...proposed_sports_and_race_pool_regulations.pdf
Good memories of Carl leaving me voicemails in college bc guys in my fraternity were ducking him. He stopped taking college student accounts when I was in school, but I heard he was back at it not long after.
LOL welcome to legalized gambling. I’ve never seen something so funny and corrupt. Fan duel sportsbook people
