LOL. We'll see what happens but I wanna say the almighty Mouse seemed to be changing its tone on gambling which would make things very interesting if they wanna get a cut of the action and stop the Seminoles monopoly.
Yea my limited understanding of this goes back to amendment 3 from 2018. That whole thing was shady as shit. Made it read like it was pro-gambling but definitely wasn't.
Yea here's a good article from back in May saying the deal was unconstitutional. The Indians and Disney pushed Amendment 3 and now the Indians want sports betting, but only for them, so they tried to work around the Amendment they pushed. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/opi...7svfdhitxpzlkpocnmq-story.html?outputType=amp
Fully expecting the rollout to be a complete flop or have some stupid restrictions like no live bets or something
So what Im reading this will be going back to court. There is a possibility of them starting the App back up while it goes to court. One person said it will be right away, one person said it could be over a year.
The last three years has seen a tremendous amount of pullback and consolidation, with more antiplayer policies. The sports gambling world is different A monopoly is going to be terrible
Europe has a growing gambling addiction problem. They're a few years ahead of us on normalizing gambling
I was talking this weekend with friends and the amount they spend monthly simply because they can do it easily from their phone was insane to me
ahhh that. No argument there. It's definitely dangerous being able to bet thousands of dollars from your phone with a few clicks. Takes a lot of self control to not go nuts.
This is interesting. In what context? Are you talking amazon purchases? Uber eats, gambling, etc? I'm genuinely curious.
Does exit 69 near West Palm/Jupiter still have the sign for the dog track? Last time I was down there in 2022 it was still there lol
The track still exists, but they don't run races anymore. Most of them are just sad casinos with slot machines and a poker room now.
why would he be discussing his friend’s uber eats habits in a discussion he was having with redav about the european gambling problem
because he threw me off using the phrase "spent" rather than "lost" The normal terminology when discussing gambling is "I won/lost X amount of dollars betting on the game" Maybe it's a regional thing, but I've never heard someone say "I spent X amount of dollars betting on the game"
Yeah Europe has about a 10-20 year start on this end. I remember downloading TV Torrance and the commercial would be for a Sportsbook
What I do think is very predatory from the legalized sports books is when people hit some stupid player prop parlay and turn $5 into $10,000 or something ridiculous. They advertise all through social media. It makes all these other people think they can hit one of those and it’s virtually impossible
this is what bothers me the most about it all, but it's just par for the course in this country at this point. can't let any regulation get in the way of maximizing profits.
