Acceptable half. Haven’t seemed to retreat after taking the lead. A vulnerability or two at the back could have this even. So I’m glad we are perhaps evolving from score one and park the bus.
A sub before the 73rd minute might have helped Jose. We all saw it coming though so at least it came this early. Put some attackers on now you moron.
Obviously should have finished better but we looked like garbage for the last 15 minutes before that goal. A sub was badly needed to change the teams mojo. Also might have helped if we didn't start Sissoko, Hojberg and Winks against a bottom of the table team. All those attacking options and we play Sissoko out of position against a team we should smoke.
Remember that period we had a few years ago where we would score late winners with regularity instead of giving up leads? That was nice.
Don’t care who the coach is, for as good as these players are individually, they’ve proven time and time again that they don’t have the collective mental makeup to do anything other than challenge for top 4. That’s their ceiling.
I am willing to bet we make top 4. Forget about winning the league, which was always probably a ridiculous thought.
something pretty drastic is going to have to change. i just dont see it with the congestion in the race.
Drastic is a bit extreme. To your point it is very congested. We have not been in great form lately, but the odds keep pointing to should have won, and eventually the odds work themselves out.
i hope you're right. what i'm mainly referring to is the constant capitulation after going up, which seems to be a pretty strong trait that we are going to have to figure out how to break. that's what concerns me.
Of course I don't disagree. I think the data is saying we shouldn't even be in that position though. I just think we find a way.
lol, when have the odds ever worked out for us? We’re perpetual underachievers who find new ways to drop points on a weekly basis. We’ve given up 8 goals in the 75’ minute or later causing us to drop 11 points. I think we can all agree Jose sucks, but the players are mental midgets who crumble at a slight breeze. It’s been this way for way longer than Jose has been in charge, too.
There are certainly frustrating points to Jose, but to say he sucks is just spoiled. Managers are not one dimensional in terms of tactics alone. He took a team that was in freefall and stopped the bleeding. He went out and recruited players who are, and will help us. He took a team that could not defend at all and turned us into one of the better defensive sides in the league. From open play we barely allow goals. We suck at set pieces and have been super unlucky. We are in the finals of a cup. We are within 6 points of top of the league. Perspective is a bitch. Yes, we are frustrated for sure, but to say he sucks feels spoiled and whiny, especially since he has a track record that has shown that what he is doing right now can work. Success this year is about Top 4 and possibly winning a cup. Next year is when I will be frustrated if we are not making serious moves to try to win major prizes.
I guess my worries about fixture congestion later in the season will be unlikely to come true since we have no chance at staying in all of these competitions with this form.
