More likely it was Mendes pushing his client through a media report and we were never going to hire him. People just assumed it since the timing of the Fonseca news. At this point we should all know that meeting someone doesn't mean first choice or imminent hiring to come.
that was coming from Spurs sources also. Not just the romano/dimarzio types who clearly speak to a lot of agents. I think the Spurs fan revolt on the back of the super league was more than levy could handle. Sounds like your new director of football wanted gattuso at juve so it makes sense. I said this in the coaching thread but I’ve always felt that levy and southgate was a marriage that levy would love after mourinho and I wonder if he drags this out long enough to make that happen. Would southgate be looked at as poorly by Spurs fans now then if he was appointed a month ago? after fonseca and gattuso I feel like Spurs fans would be far more open to southgate.
I don't trust any sources when it comes to English soccer. Half of it is just plain made up and the other half just copies the one guy who starts it all. This very well be true but ultimately I just care about the outcome typically. In this case it has been a total and complete shit show regardless. I am still hopeful that the outcome will be better than the journey. (hard to imagine it could be worse although Gattuso would have been far worse).
I love Gareth, but coming from a guy with a crop circle on the back of his head...I guess he would know.
For those who have been, what is the best way to go about getting tickets? Just booked a trip to England so my wife’s British side of the family can meet our son and will pop over to London for the Man U match. Although I guess by that time they may be giving tickets away.
he wanted Ruben Dias or a top CB and got joe Rodan. He may have been backed by Spurs standards but he wasn’t backed at all as far as making the team better against the teams Spurs compete with.
Nobody thought that at the end of the transfer window. It’s revisionist history to think that. We missed out on one late target, Skriniar. We were never linked with Dias. He even said he was happy with the window after it ended.
Definitely revisionist history but we had some links with Dias but once City got involved we didnt have a shot. More closely linked with Skriniar like you said. Strange that Mou is diverting blame
Of course he said that. What’s he going to do? Only conte lets a shit window ruin the entire season. Spurs clearly needed a CB, he wanted Dias and fair shout that skrinier was the more realistic target but he got Roden. And your D was shit. When your number 1 need is CB and you buy joe roden, your manager wasn’t backed if you actually want to get top 4 or win something.
Mourinho tried to buy both Alderweireld and Dier when he was at United. There is no doubt in my mind Levy reminded him of that.
Again, as a Spurs fan I knew the state of play and as much as we wanted Skriniar we had no idea how bad Dier, Sanchez, and even Alderweireld would be. We knew we needed help on the outside, but thought our interior was more than good enough. Our number one need is CB now. Very few thought it was last year including Mourinho who loved Dier.
Luckily for y’all the market for starting center backs looks completely fucked as Arsenal are about to buy Ben white for 75% of the cost Liverpool paid for van djik
PEH has been incredible for Denmark tonight, and really all tournament barring the PK miss which is excusable.
We just ran Hojbjerg into the ground this past year (like we do with all our good players). As he wore down he became less effective, but he's a really good player. If/when Kane leaves hopefully we can get another competent 6 so we can actually rotate.
Anyone know why Lo a Celso is not in the squad at all today for Argentina? Can’t find anything on the web.
