Good graphic to see how he improves on our current midfielders. Tackles and interceptions per 90 being the biggest improvements.
I guess it’s because he only had a year left on his contract.. but that’s a great signing for the price
If we add Bissouma and Richarlison to this group it’s clear we are trying to be the best team at winning the ball back and getting it to Kane and Son..
We wouldn’t be going for him if we felt that was a problem. He also wouldn’t be traveling to AFCON if the UK police felt he was being charged. I think we are good here. It feels like the standard talking point that people have to mention rather than a real issue.
The more I read about Bissouma the more I like him. Assuming Winks is gone then I think we really need to add a more offensive/creative midfielder to balance out Bissouma, Skipp, and Hojbjerg. Eriksen would be perfect since he'd be free and has played for Conte. Below is a graphic I saw in an article about Arsenal favoring Tielemans over Bissouma. Not saying we need to sign Tielemans but someone like him or Eriksen that is more attacking minded would really nicely balance out our midfield.
Spitballing +Eriksen (free) +Richarlison (£60m) +Spence (£20m) +Torres (£30m + GLC) -Winks (£20m) -Lo Celso (permanent) -Rodon (£6m) -Berg (£20m) -Ndombele (loan) -Reguilon (£20m) -Royal (£20m) Bank: £150m investment + £75m regular budget - Bissouma (£25m) + CCV (£6m) = £231m - £24m net above = fucking £207m depth Lloris/Foster Doherty/Spence - Romero/Sanchez - Dier/Tanganga? - Torres/Davies - Perisic/Sess Hojbjerg/Bissouma - Bentancur/Skipp Son/Eriksen? - Kane/Richarlison - Deki/Lucas those forward subs are fluid. Eriksen does find a little difficulty with me in fitting into the 3-4-3 obviously but great in a 3-5-2 with Eriksen sitting in the space between Peh/Bent and Son/Kane. Still quite a lot of funds to spend with those hypothetical transfers. If we wanna get wild, Bremer to rotate with Dier?
I am still not taking the 150M at face value in terms of that equals our transfer budget outside of net spend. I am sure some of that includes first year cash flows (salaries/signing bonuses), and other capital expenditures. I bet we don't come close to that. I am also not sure we need to if we get 70 or so for Winks, Berg, and Lo Celso. there is still other pieces to be sold too.
and resign Conte. Honestly keep going like we are with maybe Richarlison and a CB the big spends and resign Kane and Conte, and boom!
More or less my speculative incomings, and Spence. I would simply not know what to do if this was my fifa save. Do I throw in a bid for Messi? Idk, I’m rich as fuck boi
Yeah, I forgot about Conte. Hugely important, obviously. Like... trying my best to tamp down this off season optimism because a lot can go wrong, obviously, but like... it's finally looking like this club is going for it. Got the stadium, couple of superstars, fantastic run to end a season to build off of, CL football, and the best manager in football.
We all know Big Bird is essentially puppeting what the club tells him, he is almost Tier 0 despite only being perpetually 6 years old.
Man if we can get Eriksen for free that leaves a lot of money left to find an attacker and cb. And it's only middle of June.
From Gold’s latest update •Bissouma looks to be done in the next 48-72hrs, with him having a medical tomorrow (Thursday), and is expected to start at The Lodge tonight. With all add-ons triggered, upwards of a £30m fee. Has an injury from international duty but stresses that his injury is not serious. •Interest from Paratici in McKennie, had him above Bentancur for targets in January but wasn’t able to get him. However, this may be unlikely as we could look for a more creative option with the arrival of Bissouma. •Likely to see Tanguy and Lo Celso sold, Gil sent back out on loan, with Rodon, Winks, and Bergwijn also looking elsewhere for regular minutes. Spurs looking to recoup as much of the £27m fee for Bergwijn as possible. Willing to listen to offers for Reguillon, Royal, and Sanchez, who has attracted prolonged interest from Monaco. •On Sanchez to Monaco, as already reported Spurs could look to bring in Benoît Badiashile, a talented young LCB, but with Monaco in a seemingly great financial position after the sale of Tchoumeni, the likelihood of this may be low. •Eriksen a possibility. Prefers London amid interest from Man U. Some reports from Brentford’s side skeptical of their ability to keep him. News likely to heat-up soon due to National matches ending. •Djed Spence reportedly favours a move to Spurs, given the opportunity to work with Conte, CL football, and seemingly a pretty large role to play in the squad. News likely to heat-up soon due to National matches ending. Nothing agreed at this point with Middlesbrough. •Whispers that Spurs hold some interest in 23 y/o Blackburn Striker Ben Bereton Diaz. There have been no contacts, and this is more of a historic target, but interest may be re-ignited due to current situation: 1 year left on contract, 22 goals last season, home-grown. •On Richarlison, same as reported: monitoring situation, Everton interested in Winks but Everton want a large sum for him - reportedly €70m euros for what is a non-starter. •Nothing new on CBs, same old targets: Bastoni doors not entirely closed until Inter offload players for funds, but unlikely. Pau Torres, Gvardiol, Lenglet, Bremer, etc. As good as Bastoni is, Spurs likely not wanting to wait around. •As reported to death, Kane very happy at Spurs. Highlights the switch from last season with England being his happy place and Spurs less so, now the inverse is true. •Highlights the importance of having more midfield options, such as the possibility of playing with a midfield 3 in a 3-5-2. •Josh Keeley signed from St. Patrick’s Athletic. Highly rated 19 y/o goalkeeper, comes at a time with Spurs releasing 5 different keepers (Gollini + 4 academy products). Not our no.3, has only appeared in one game this season gone - one for the future. Will be involved with the U-23s. •Lots of talk on the new updated structure of recruitment at Spurs with a summary of the incomings and out-comings of staff from around 35:00 onwards. Too much to list for what I assume is pretty niche information that I believe has mostly already been reported on, but feel free to give it a listen. •Q&A from 42:00 onwards. •PMS (unfortunate abbreviation, Pape Matar Sarr) is imagined to go back out on loan - is only 19 and may need to physically bulk-up. •No update yet on Doherty. Tanganga, Skipp, and Perisic expected back before/during pre-season. •On old Belotti links, loss of interest in him due to Paratici seeing him as not quite suitable for what he is trying to build with Conte. That’s all folks! Missed a couple of less interesting bits particularly during the Q&A at the end, but overall it’s a pretty concise summary of Ali’s coverage on Spurs news.
After returning from the World Cup, we don’t travel outside of London until our trip to Leicester on 2/11. I’m not sure how much, if any, difference that’ll make but it sure is nice from a travel perspective.
It all depends on how our UCL and cup games break. Things usually seem to be worse once you factor those in.
Assuming this is another player (I’ve seen it rumored someone else is at the facilities today), it has to be Spence, right?
Interesting that all of our games against big 6 teams + WH are on the road first, save for Liverpool. We get Chelsea, Arsenal, City, WH, and MU all on the road in Aug, Sept, and Oct. if we come out of that stretch in a good spot it could set us up for a strong season.
Closest to Mousa, but the best comparison is how Conte used Brozovic at Inter. This allows Bentancur (and PEH) to play slightly more advanced while catering to Bissouma’s ability to resist pressing and receive the ball in crowded areas, drop alongside CBs, and link up play from the back.
