I am not saying to not give him a move. I am saying we have no motivation to sell at a low price now because we have time to sell him and there is allegedly other interest.
I saw Man U had interest a week or so ago. It is hard to imagine that nobody has interest. he is a talented player.
Are you still questioning whether we are going to do our business this window? I have zero concerns in the world.

Those were the quickest I could find. Media is lazy though. I don't believe most of what I read, but I have seen links. Also links about using him as a makeweight for Antony.
I mostly get my United news from twitter and one of the aggregators I follow rates all the sources. If the rating isn't high enough then I usually just scroll right past it. United get used by agents and clubs so often to increase interest/value for their clients/players that it's impossible to sort through the bullshit unless the legit sources weigh in. I've seen the BergWIJN and Antony swap talk. It doesn't seem like United are going to do anything else until they finish this farcical FDJ saga so Spurs should have a free run at Antony right now unless he really wants to link up with Ten Hag again.
I haven’t wondered whether we’ll do business. I’ve wondered how well get to the £150M number that’s been thrown out since the Bastoni links have gone away.
Also seeing a lot of talk today that ETH really wants and admires Eriksen. Feels like he’s deciding between the homecoming/UCL that Spurs offer and the probably higher wages that United are offering.
What kind of role would Eriksen have at MU? Seems like he’s be a backup to Bruno which doesn’t sound all that enticing because Bruno is starting whenever he is fit, no? We have a lot of options in the midfield but none with Eriksen’s sklillset.
The 150M number is a fan fiction number in a way. It is everyone figuring out what the 150M investment will be used for and in what way. There is no clear answer there and I wouldn't wrack your brain trying to think about it with the exception of we are going to bring in players who Conte wants. . For example... Is it just on total transfer fees Is it just the total transfer fees spent in this year's cash flows Does it include purchases of Deki, Romero, and Bentancur in any way Does it include salaries for this year. Does it include agents fees for free's Does it include any other investment in the club etc.
Sounds like he wants to remain in London. Not sure how big of a factor that’ll ultimately be, but it’s been stressed multiple times from his camp.
By all accounts he could have a starting role regardless of if/when United sign Frenkie. ETH’s system actually doesn’t require a traditional CDM and he used FDJ as the deepest lying midfielder during their time at Ajax. Supposedly Frenkie prefers to be the player who receives the ball from the defense/starts the transition to attack and that’s the role being offered to him by ETH.
Seen that as well. I just assume that United are offering significantly higher wages due to it being a free transfer and that’s what is making Eriksen have to think about it.
Our insiders are saying he asked for obscene money from MU. He wanted to be around the highest paid player.
I’d want obscene money to sign up for our latest project too. With Pogba finally off the books it’s probably not unlikely that he would be one of our higher wages since it would be a free transfer. I just assume those insiders mean he wants to be among the highest paid players other than Ronaldo. Nobody else is getting even close to his wages.
Around £500k a week per reports. I could see him getting north of 200k on a free transfer. That would put him in our top 5 earners but no way he gets Ronaldo type money.
I think only De Gea, Sancho, and Varane are all above 300k. I'm sure Bruno is around that with the new contract as well. 200-250k would put Eriksen on the same wage level as Rashford/Martial. 300k might not be out of the question if ETH really pushed for him.
That would be a bad move IMO. I know Man U pays big wages, but at this stage in his career it up just feels like it sets a bad precedent, it feels like more of the same.
Absolutely. Putting him in the 300k range would be a bad look. Not just due to Eriksen’s age and health concerns but also the performance of the new signings/top earners. I think 200k is reasonable on a free transfer and he is still a highly PL experienced player. It really depends on his role. Hard to justify that if he’s not expected to start most games.
I was going to be excited just because it's Eriksen and if Conte wanted him than he saw the value...That said, I think we can find a better fit who is a lot younger and I think we have to move on. I said it when we were first linked.
If they think someone is a better fit then Eriksen and are willing to spend the money fine with me. I just want someone creative added to our current midfield group.
"Free" is not free. When Eriksen left he wanted big money, and his agent will clearly be pushing for the same when it comes to salary since there is no fee. This aligns with the MU rumors of him asking for Ronaldo type money.
Will be interesting to see if any new Paqueta links begin popping up this week in light of the Eriksen news. Not sure I’ve seen us linked to any other creative mids.
Free is free when it comes to acquiring the player. No one plays for free, obviously. He wont get top top money at this point in his career imo, especially if he wants to play CL football. However, him asking for that kinda money would explain why we'd look elsewhere, we won't want to pay huge wages for a rotation guy.
I am not sure you are understanding what I am saying in the first part of your statement. I agree with the second, but he may not. No club sits there and says the fee is X and therefore whatever the salary is will be ok, and I suspect this is the issue. Many times you pay a premium in salary and agent fees for a free, so it may wind up being some discount depending on the player, if they ask for huge salary it may not be. It is the total cash flow of the acquisition. For example, you can sign the following and it is still the same spend... - 15M fee + 3 year 100K per week (5.2M annual) = 30.6M expense - Free Fee + 3 year 200K per week (10.4M annual) = 31.2M expense Not all free's are the same. Perisic seemingly didn't ask for too much or too long. It appears Eriksen may be.
Yes I understand what you were referring to, I did not know he was asking for that kind of money, I assumed given his condition and how many clubs would not wish to deal with that, that his MV would be closer to what we got with Perisic. As far as your example numbers go, we're not going an Eriksen level player for a 15M fee on 100K a week. Just not realistic imo. Do you have an alternative target in mind for those numbers?
