You gotta ride it out now. I don’t trust the football but there’s an undeniable intangible quality to him. Plus, you’d never live it down as a club sacking a guy who broke this drought.
Yes considering people still say Mourinho should have coached the Catalan championship game (which is total revisionist history), letting someone go after this is just ripe for second guessing. You bought time for him to have a chance, so if you sacked after a bad start so be it.
You can’t sack him now. And if what he said after the match is true as far as basically packing it in on the PL season and putting everything towards Europa, then he should get even more grace. Go spend some money and support the man. He got us a trophy and Champions League football in a season where damn near everything went wrong.
Bet the lads are hungover today. That Brighton game is going to be a blowout one way or the other. Probably with us losing 5-0 but who gives a damn
Chatted with a buddy back in the UK (Spurs fan for life) last night. Pretty emotional - talked about the last time Spurs won a European cup he remembers running around his flat as a child with his dad (who just passed recently)
Reports coming out that Ange is out. hope this is the new CEO decision and not Levy. Seems like Romero and Ange are tied so may lose him now.
Vinai is more corporate accountant/finance, than a football guy. Can't see him dictating this decision, if the rumors are valid
Fair. I am excited about him based on what Ive read. What are yalls thoughts? Seems like Munn is out due to the redundancy now and Paratici in. If new people Ange out makes more sense to get their guys in. Unless its a homerun hire I dont get it. Frank or Silva dont make sense.
he did a decent job here. supported the football decision's of others that have built this current era and has helped our women's team move into the Emirates.
My primary concern with Vinai leaving was due to perceived turnover (again) within the back office. He was a constant from end of Wenger era, Raul fiasco & Edu-Arteta... with Edu leaving, it was bad timing/optics Reputation of being a solid executive, but he was mostly behind the scenes - well liked & respected. If Levy exited the picture, or involvement diminishes, I'd feel confident of him at the helm. He was hands-off & let the football side to do their thing - which I assume you all would prefer
Reads like our terrible ass club made the decision but we have so many loose lips that it’s getting out before final. Hope this makes them keep him.
He just managed the worst league performance in club history. I'm fine either way if he stays or goes. But to act like firing him is crazy is ignoring 99% of the season. If he does stay I bet he's gone by the end of the calendar year anyways. He's still inflexible with his tactics and I doubt the club will let him spend big on the multiple new starters we need.
Hard to understand why any serious manager would consider the Spurs job given the history of the club under Levy. No one gets full backing and as soon as adversity strikes (mostly directly due to inadequate roster reinforcement), Levy sacks them. Rinse repeat. That said, I like Franks (would have been fine with him 2 years ago when they were replacing Conte), don't like Silva, don't like anyone from Serie A (you can bet Paratici will be calling his Italian agent buds).
Just make a decision asap. If Ange is gone then a new hire needs to be made as soon as possible so they can have a say in summer transfers. If Ange stays then it allows the current players to know so the ones we want to keep hopefully don't leave. Also would be nice to make our summer transfers early and not wait until the last second like we always do. But this is all probably asking too much, and Levy will Levy.
I'm Ange in - dude just managed the 1st trophy in almost 2 decades and the first European hardware in 4. His league results were dreadful, obviously, and if he manages to keep his job this summer (seems obvious he's getting sacked), he'll be on a short leash.
Yeah the timing is the most frustrating part. People are signing players linked with us and we cant even decide who is the coach yet. It does seem like there are some big things getting turned over high up in the club based on the news form the aggregators today. Assuming dominoes starting to fall with new CEO. A lot of redundancy too now especially if Paratici really is coming in.
Sacking the coach who won us our first European trophy in 40 years, immediately after winning it, would be classic Spurs
So the only logical reason for the delayed decision is Levy shopping for alternatives before firing Ange, right? What else could there be? Nothing else could change at this point. Frustrating he's taking so long
It just reeks of incompetence. How have they not already done all the background work to find out who they want and who is interested in the job? They had months to do all of that. Liverpool had Slot done in April 2024 for comparison.
Yeah I mean you either know or you dont. Delaying makes no sense unless theyre waiting on doing some announcement video once he gets back (makes no sense) Or waiting on a high profile name to say yes/no. Again though I dont think this is a typical off season. With new CEO i think there's going to a be a lot of changes top down.
