I actually have no issue with it and I was an Ange supporter. Chelsea sacked many a manager who won a lot more than Ange did. I just have no idea what happened to the team once he got many back. We won a trophy but let’s be honest, it was the easiest year to win without UCL teams dropping down and it was fortunate.
Don’t feel strongly about him getting sacked, but why wasn’t this done a week or two ago? And now we’re apparently going to have a manager search? Levy is so bad at this part of his job. Great real estate developer though.
This was a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. I like that they stuck with him to get the trophy but there is no excuse for finishing 17th even with all of our injuries and you just can't reward that.
I'd say maybe the timing is indicative of discussions/knowing who they're lining up, but that'd be giving Levy too much credit still, can't argue too much with the decision - 22 Ls is hard to overlook
It's not about rewarding someone, it's about trying to establish some continuity with a club with players who were bought under 5 different systems.
I am all about continuity and have been banging that drum, but after players came back from injury he couldn't win any game. I find that inexcusable and while yes, we won a trophy and I will always appreciate him for that and really like him as a personality, I believe the form of the team overall is more predictive of future possibilities for success than winning one random trophy, because as much as we won shit over the past 20 years, I genuinely believe trophies have as much to do with luck in as anything else, and we had some pretty bad luck in tourneys up until the united game, which I think we were fortunate to win.
The league figured out Ange ball and he never adjusted. Thanks for winning us a trophy but if he was retained he would have been fired anyways if/when we struggle next season. He clearly showed he's not up to in in the prem and things likely would have gone equally poorly in the champions league. At least this way a new manager can have the summer window and champions league money to pick out new players. We might lose Romero over this, but he just would have left next summer after Ange was fired. Hopefully this extra time means they have the next manager lined up. But I'm sure we'll take another month to get that figured out since we can't ever do things quick.
like I said a few days ago, if they have a deal in place for Thomas Frank and he's the guy, fine. I think that guy is good (though let's see how good without Mbuemo and some others he had at Brentford) and is an improvement over Ange. If it's one of the other names I've seen bandied about, I think Spurs will continue to struggle. Outside of the core defenders, I don't think this team is very talented.
I put it at even money that Frank or Silva or some shit reject Levy - after a month of back and forth - spurs end up with Terzic or Southgate
extra time? bro, we are talking about a few days. You make it like we took forever and the announcement was the point in time where everything started. This was known at least a week ago. They probably were just ironing out settlement and burying it in the weekend news.
A week to hire a new manager, a few weeks for the new guy to work with the players and decide who he wants to keep and what kind of players he wants to bring in, another week to identify potential targets, a few weeks for Levy to haggle over (relative) pennies, and we’re right on schedule to finally bring players in right before the game against PSG.
Maybe so, but he’s also been at fault for a team playing relegation level football for their past 50+ league games. Going out after that win was honestly the best outcome for him, even if he wanted to keep going.
He’s been a good manager the past few years and he has a decent style of play. He seems to get more out of teams than the talent that’s there, so I’m good with it. We just need to get going at this point.
I was Ange in based on the trophy alone. With that being said, I expected him to be sacked during the season next year given his inability to adapt. I think Frank is the better manager for the PL.
Basically the same for me. I wanted to give it one more try with Ange, but I’m pretty sure it would have ended quickly.
Sad to see Ange the person gone. The coach got us a trophy and if he stayed on I wouldve been behind him but 17th with that many losses you cant throw your hands up. Cautiously optimistic for Frank. Like the staff hes bringing and from what Im reading I really like how adaptable he is to his players/system.
Looks like were getting Tel for about 35 mil. Not a bad deal. Cant imagine we bring more than 1 other winger unless Sonny leaves.
Reminder that - even when the team had a relatively fit roster - the squad was playing relegation tier football. That's not all on Ange Postecoglou.
Also, this is the first time k can remember that the schedule isn’t trying to fuck us, it looks pretty manageable for the most part
Looks tough to me. EPL is filled with tough teams now. Very few easy runs anymore especially coming from 17th spot.
