Starting a rewatch on Monday 7/23. Two episodes a week until the new episodes release. Chronological order: https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder First up: 216 Cat and Mouse 116 Hidden Enemy
I’ve never watched TCW or Rebels. Correct way would be to join in on this with you guys then watch Rebels?
Probably. Because there are several things that come up in Rebels that directly tie into things that happen in Clone Wars.
This thread will go through every episode and the movie. If folks don't want to watch certain episodes, they don't have to.
Starting up meow I don't remember anything of this episode It's like watching it for the first time again
I thought you guys were going to plow through and I wouldn't be able to keep up. 2 episodes a week is very doable. I'm in.
216: Admiral Trench's tailor must have a hell of a time. Trench was one of the most competent Separatist characters that I can remember, analyzing and anticipating the Jedi's moves at a really high level. Only Anakin's superior flying skills brought him down by his own torpedoes. 116: Fucking Slick. It was a good bit of misleading by having Chopper sitting in the shadow of the bunk bed until his questioning, lurking. I'd seen this episode before of course but still got got by the misdirection. Ventress' introduction and her overt sexual advances on Obi Wan throws you for a loop the first time. You question if they had a previous romantic interaction based on their interplay. Does Anakin know their history enough? What I'm getting at is if Anakin justifies his relationship with Padme based on Obi-Wan's relationships, or if he just does it anyway.
216 - Starting early w the theme of Anakin disregarding orders but it still always ends up working out for him. That's what creates the hubris that brings him down. 116- dont really have anything to add to PeterGriffin 's remarks.
It seems way too early in the war for clones to get jaded. Not just Slick flipping, but Chopper too. Getting so salty and jaded and feeling the need to take some droid trophies.
2/3 of the way through the movie. I remember why it took so long to start watching TCW. This is brutal. Such a childish storyline.
I did. Forgot to post. I was expecting to hate it more. I think knowing what's coming down the pipe makes it more tolerable. Ahsoka is annoying, but it makes her growth that much more of a payoff. I remember being annoyed about all this trouble for Jabba's dumb kid. And it was dumb, but considering it was a tool used to win Jabba's favor and control of important outer rim shipping lanes is a good situation. Ciro is obnoxious but him trying to unseat jabba is a cool storyline too. Id chalk this up to good idea, mediocre execution. Ive only watched TCW once so this is a different experience.
I give AoTC an undeserved pass because Natalie Portman made young Canes feel things, but woof it's a bad movie.
One thing that always jumps out at me when I watch episodes from early TCW is the lack of forsight from the makers of the show to put Ahsoka in a crop top. They had to know that 6-12 year old girls everywhere were gonna want to be her for Halloween and that crop top was gonna cause issues with parents.
The other thing that stuck out in a few scenes of the movie was how bad the animation was. Felt like it wasnt finished. They've come a long way over the years.
Due to how beloved she’s become over the years, people forget how unpopular she was initially. This annoying little padawan girl named “snips”.
301 - Great line right from the jump "stop calling me echo!" "stop repeating every order!" lol Jedi hiring soulless bounty hunters to train the clones seems anti intuitive to what the Jedi would do. 303- Oh man... Jar Jar. Sigh. Didnt really appreciate the importance of Ryloth the first go around. So much stuff comes from there with Cham, Hera and that first Vader book in the new canon (title is escaping me)
What episodes we got this week/who else is watching. I feel like we lost everyone by making it it’s own thread.
Watched at lunch... forgot ot post 101 - Ambush Yoda is a badass. Took note of how Yoda just toyed w Ventress. She gave Obi-Wan and Anakin a tough dual. 102 - Rising Malevolence Plo Koon
101: always fun seeing yoda dominate dooku. 102: at a big ion cannon bring an unstoppable secret weapon.
105: Rookies All the fan service in dropping Han lines form the ANH 106: Downfall of a Driod - Poor R3 cant do anything right Snips saw a little of Anakin's darkside this ep.
103 Shadow of Malevolence- So Padme gets a secret mission that puts her in harms way and nobody takes a second to wonder why whoever (Palpatine) sent her on this mission that was an obvious trap. 8 104 Destroy Malevolence- Pretty standard episode where Anakin does Anakin things. 9 105 Rookies- Poor cutup and hevy. So many easter egg lines.
